Okay, I haven’t heard much Taylor. I’ll put in my two cents worth anyway. What I’ve heard has been pleasantly hummable, but also forgettable. It’s musical peppermint ice cream, and I can’t hate anyone for liking an occasional dose of peppermint ice cream. What I find so depressing about the Taylor phenomenon is that her fans apparently have nothing more substantial to fill their bourgeois lives. So she’s … well … a symptom. So I guess I’ll just have to hope that the Swifties discover Esperanza Spalding and Gary Clark Jr. in their KZread recommendations and work their way back from there.

It's really sad... not that she is untalented but the hype around her and her music is incredibly out of any reality for quality. Next week she will have two concerts here in Zurich, all in all about 100-150k fans who want to see her in and around the stadium. The neighbourhoods will be shut off from the rest of the city, traffic stopped, and even for to hear her from outside of the arena you have to pay. I don't even have the slightest clue who are these "fans" - who does she attract? It is the same venue where Bruce, the Stones, AC/DC, U2, Bon Jovi, Macca and other big rockers were playing and it was always a big party in and around the arena but not like that. She is hyped up like no one else before. I don't even know a single song she sang - and don't know anyone who does actually.
