It seems to me like Joe is majorly introverted. Taylor is too, but she still likes to go out and have a good time and take and share photos with loved ones. Something never really sat right with me about the rigid boundaries regarding their "privacy." Not discussing your relationship is one thing. Never turning up to be there for any of your Gf's awards and achievements just felt weird to me. That seems like more than just "keeping your relationship private" to me. It's like he didn't want to be seen publicly with her. She could never really share anything and she's the type of person who is very open about who she is.

@Kate Hewitson I think when they first started datng they were shown out together more. Then it really did change and start feeling weird. I believe that she may have a red carpet rule, but numerous people who have met him talk about him being super private and rather mysterious. I think it's sad how she's being bullied once again about the end of a relationship too. Some of the comments I've read have been downright nasty.

Thank you for saying this. It's been bugging me for awhile. She has had some career milestone awards while they have been together and he has missed every single one of them including her getting an honorary doctorate from NYU. I suppose none of us have the right to judge but I can't help it in this case. I don't know maybe he didn't want to be viewed as Taylor Swift's boyfriend which is fair enough I suppose. In my generous moments I view that as him not wanting to use her to raise his profile and in my not so generous moments it's him not taking her achievements seriously.

He was fully with her for the whole reputation tour, and that tour was also massive and he attended several shows. It's weird to me that the tour would trigger it.

Dude he was always badgered with intrusive and embarrassing questions from people about Taylor and their relationship. People are like hawks. He talks about his career and you can sense that all most people want to know is “HOW R THINGS WITH TAYLOR?” so people can jerk off to that. Who would ever leave me darling but who could stay. I feel so bad for Taylor but I SO TOTALLY understand this manifestation of the song Peace, especially as someone who’s had ONE stalker in my life before. Imagine having stalkers by the million. You become a prisoner in your own life. Feel sad for both

I think it's a combination of stuff. When they were still just dating it probably wasn't an issue. But now that they've been together for ages and were probably discussing whether they want marriage, kids etc., she's more career-focused now than ever. Like she's less than halfway through re-recordings, just dropped a studio album, going on a huge tour, deciding to make a movie. And it might be a case of them having different plans for the next few years of their life and it's too much of a difference in what they both want.

That’s also because the Reputation tour was at the beginning of their relationship when they were not as serious. Six years in, he probably needed her to prioritize more. Not give up her career, but maybe do less shows like she was planning for Loverfest (only 5 shows in the Us). No relationship could possibly last with someone choosing to be a workaholic and not only be gone for 6 months on tour, but probably also be “gone” for 6 months before the tour to practice and prepare.

If the whole "her fame is too much to handle" is true, I feel so sad for Taylor. She sacrificed so much to be able to make things work with that guy. The way she purposely not attending music award shows just to accompany him filming his movies, attending his screening backstage, always travelling incognito (even with boxes and suitcase), limit her exposure on social media and public etc just to keep things low-key. Six years together and then he suddenly chose to quit, I'd feel betrayed tbh. You can't decide who you falling in love with but finding a partner who is financially on you level AND 100% irrelevant from entertainment industry might help her future relationship to work forever.

If that's the case, I think it's sad too. Her level of fame and her fan base is huge compared to Joe. If he wanted constant privacy, that would have meant a huge sacrifice on her part.

Taylor either needs someone on her level fame/talent wise or someone completely unknown. The problem with Joe was that he was somewhere in the middle and is a very subpar actor. He couldn't carve out his own identity outside of being Mr Taylor Swift. I'm sure that built up some resentment and/or frustration, even though it's not Taylor's fault and I'm sure he didn't blame her but it doesn't change the reality.

I don’t think this is it. I think after lover Taylor expected her career to slow down and she was ready to settle down and this was the plan all along but then after the success of her albums after lover that even she didn’t expect she wanted to enjoy her success and didn’t want to settle down which is not what Joe wants and the differences in their goals is what broke them up

Maybe they were able to focus on each other during the pandemic since nothing was happening in the world. Now that’s she busy again, they must not have time for each other. ☹️

Joe seems like a confident and cool guy who was not threatened by Taylor and her career. Only issue I see is Taylor is very chaotic, as she said consistently in her songs about being afraid her drama would push him away. If anything, she also lost him because she chose her career over her personal life. When she was going to do the Lover tour, she only chose to do 5 shows in the US so she could focus on her relationships. Now she is doing more than 50 shows in the US. Being a workaholic is never good and if she wants a stable and normal guy like Joe who won’t use her, she can’t be fully in the spotlight like before.

It’s like I said, I feel like they decided to take a break almost a year ago, so around July 2022. That gave her time to write midnights and to process her feelings. And us just finding out this weekend, has been hard for us. But it’s been some time for her to deal with it.

i think it's problematic that a lot of people romantice romantic love in general a little too much. yes, they probably loved/love each other very much. but love (most of the time) doesn't last forever and it doesn't have to to be real. also, love isn't enough. you need a lot of communication, emotional intellegence, etc. to make a relationship work. and even so, it can happen that at some point it doesn't work anymore bc people grow apart, life and people change, etc. you can still love the other person even if you're not together anymore. so i don't really understand the "love isn't real" type of thinking just bc a relationship that you liked ended. love is real and people can love very much, but it's usually not eternal, and that's okay.

I'm sure Joe is trying to be a movie star for the 'art' of it and definitely not the fame and definitely sitting somewhere listening to an indie record that's much cooler than hers.
