    As an experienced 400 meter runner....he exerted too much energy just to catch him on the backstretch....lactic acid took over his legs in the homestretch. A dam good run in my opinion. Its more strategic to run a flat 400m but when it comes to 4x4 relay you hold nothing back...Give it all you got.#Phenomenal

    I disagree. He panicked. Once He saw how fast he was closing on the back stretch he should have started cruising while maintaining flow. Instead he pushed all the way and gassed out. Yes he had to do too much at the end but he did it too early and too fast. Had he done it gradually he would have had a better chance.

    Other than being pushed out of his lane which was unfair but *technically* allowed, Taylor literally ran out of all energy reserves at the end. All the energy he had in his cells were literally diminished, he was at the peak of his lactic system, which is why he almost passed out at the end. So much respect for that guy, he is one to watch for the next Usain Bolt.

    John Way it’s a 4x400m relay. After the first leg and part of the second leg have been run you are free to run in any lane you choose. The runner moving lanes to push Chris further outside to run around him is basic running tactics. Once he doesn’t touch him he’s allowed to do what he wants until he gets to the finish.

    I think the main things Taylor did slightly wrong here was trying to pass him on the bend, he should've stayed right with him and waited to pass him on the straight, because he ran a greater distance than the Trinidad anchor runner after he went out to lane 2 on the second bend

  • @lesterorie6137

    @lesterorie6137

    It's true. I appreciate the fact that people are looking and really scrutinising every aspect of the race. If Taylor had kept trailing Kashief King and waited until they were both well into the home straight it may have been possible to then accelerate with every last atom of strength humanely possible merge to lane two and dash past King for a narrow win. It was possible............................

    Yeah, he went out a bit too fast for the first 200, but also that big guy cut him off in the last 80 which didn't help, but damn he is fast.

    Thats not what cost him the race tho... The Trini dude ran over from lane 1 to lane 3 and bumped into him... He had enough to win the race.

    all the runners after the first leg, can use the first lane. the one who maintains that lane would have advantage of covering the minimum 400m. in 4x400, 800m races etc, the strategy runners employ to avoid being overtaken, is to maintain the inner lane. those who determine to overtake are usually forced to run outside. that is the nature of these races. athletes even bump into each other while juggling the lanes. the race officials can determine if/ when athletes contact each other during the race, that contact was unavoidable or unsportsmanlike. Taylor was being forced to take the longer route to victory, if he maintain the mental strength/physical stamina.

    As a lot of people would say, very gutsy by the last leg of the Jamacian team. Too bad he basically had his body quit because of his monumental effort to catch up. Nothing to be ashamed about Jamaca Team, with the exception of the first baton pass, which was atrocious, and was the cause for your team losing. Still a really great race.

    That anchor Taylor, wow! Had he had just 10 meters shorter to catch up! What a run, he gave his all like a real patriot. Sadly a human is only capable of just that much, his tank ran absolutely empty. Great run, great patriot.
