Taylor Fagins Sings Original Song About The Killing Of Black People In America - American Idol 2022
Ойын-сауық
Taylor's original song "We Need More" is about the deaths of Black people like Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. Everyone is moved to tears during his performance on the piano, and Lionel Richie says it's disgusting that Taylor's song is relevant in 2022.

I'm a 43 year old white male, living in the deep south. I'll be honest, I've lived most of my life completely oblivious to what was going on around me. I'll never know what it's like to be black in a America and I won't pretend too. But I'll spend the rest of my days making sure everyone around me knows that we must do better if we desire to live in unity and in peace. We need more.... ✌️

Maybe a song about the whole world coming together regardless of the color of our skin would be a better song choice instead of telling black kids they need to be scared of all white people and cops, when it reality only a small number are bad, just like how not all blacks are bad. The song he sang, yet sad, just seems to further divide.
Can someone please talk about the amount of courage he took to take this original song to American idol? And what would’ve happened if this is the song (or these kind of songs) played in mainstream radio? This is Grammy level award level. In a day and age where there could still be a possibility these stories can get gas lit by a segment of the population… yet he took the courage to take his most personal work to show the world in the hopes of changing hearts and minds so we can see, feel in someone else’s shoe. I haven’t been a cryer normally but I was wiping my tears with this song. I don’t want him to just win American idol… I want the mainstream industry and Hollywood give him a prime spotlight for him to create his own work.

It’s just that could really empathize and relate … and ask myself how I can do better so black boys and girls don’t die or at least feel safe in the country we live in. Or… are you saying their experience made you feel uncomfortable and therefore it’s easier to label it as divisive propaganda so you get a get out of jail free card from needing to examine what we can do better for ALL people in this country? That discomfort is real for a segment of this country and I acknowledge that. Damn! This song put a rock in my throat! It was so emotional, so raw, and such a reality check to listen to. We need more from this crazy talented artist. He is truly inspiring! ❤️

@Nick Ford you totally missed the broad piece of the spectrum. You focused your attention to one piece of it. Focus on the basis of why it happens in the first place.
I'm crying my eyes out... that was the most powerful audition I have ever witnessed. He's so talented. This song should go on a movie. He definitely talented and will succeed further now that the world has heard him. Someone will be calling for work....
Wow!!! This is what music is about. Expressing the inert most thoughts across the world with a meaningful message and a beautiful voice.
I started getting chills at the beginning of the first verse and started crying by the end of the first verse. What a powerful, heavy, beautiful work of art this is.
That was such a powerful and moving piece. His delivery is so grounded and so low key. I’m very excited that American Idol will afford him this opportunity to share his prodigious gifts with the world.
Absolutely amazing! So powerful and it’s all from this man’s heart! Bravo!👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾✊🏾🙏🏾❤️
His message made me smile that he had the confidence and determination to spread a message on a platform so big and it wasn’t filled with hate or anger but with love and pain and not just for us but for everyone we all need more and we all need love and understanding in this world if we open our hearts and open our minds the sky is the limit for the world and all people we all have had a battle some can still tell it and some can’t and that speaks volumes I’m a instant fan and I hope Americans everywhere are to

TAYLOR FAGIN'S song was much needed! It was uplifting, creative, artistic, and hopefully unifying! As a black man, this hit too close to home! I teared up instantly. My own mom didn't know why I was gonna walk to the store and it was only 9:45PM at night. The store is literally a 15 minute walk there and back. And it's sad that my mom and so many black parents and children have to worry about walking outside as soon as it gets dark or even before the sunrise. HIM and NICOLINA should've gotten that PLATINUM TICKET!

a puddle of tears. This spoke to my soul..
stunned & speechless. so powerful. re-listened to this many times with just a critical ear towards the songwriting and performance and it's just a work of genius art on top of it. if this song doesn't become something memoralized for all time it's a crime. this man reminds me of the genius of tyler perry but 10x's more talented. i want to see him go far - not particularly in this competition but in life and that his message in all forms of his art are widely public. he has things to say we all need to hear and as katie put it so well - the best activism has always come from art.
I need some record label to sign Taylor and make this a real song. This needs to be blared on every radio station, streaming platform, internet channel - EVERYWHERE. This is the definition of an ARTIST. The fact that he articulated this into musical form, with a real message - this is music.
I really hope this wasn’t just a performative inclusion on American idols part, we need to hear his story. Please don’t just cut him in the next phase. This was powerful & more of what we need to hear, what society needs to hear. More of this.
I’m on my 5th time watching. I can’t get enough. This man is absolutely impeccable and beautiful 🥰
