The whole family's in the room, grandma, aunties, siblings, parents, they have been praying for this pretty little girl to have a miracle of hearing since she was born. The Mom must be filming, the sniffles are kind of a giveaway. This is a set-up testing session hooked up to a tone signal maker, she can't hear the room so she's still getting instructions by sign. The emotional response you always see is when it's connected for external hearing, and they the voices of their family and themselves. We don't see that part here. But it's emotional for them when it happens because deafness is so painfully isolating and limiting, so this technology is a miracle. She's got a whole life of opportunity in front of her now, the family clearly knows it.

I am happy for you to receive a CI. I got mine 20 years ago. I have a video on my CI activation on my page from 1995.

I have a cochlear implant and I love it but I also know sign so I can switch between the hearing community and deaf community. I've had mine for 14 years

Sign language is the most beautiful thing to watch. Dunno why but I can watch it all day even if I don't understand it.

Well..that "hot-ness" someone is talking about is quite a rough way to describe the increased level of awareness experienced by all other human senses when one of them is missing..This girl has trained her eyes, her smile, all her facial muscles to convey emotions, ideas...feelings, That´s something absolutely and deeply connected to beauty...Deaf people smile more and better and have an enriched facial arsenal of gestures...

@@rubentrevino4742 My dad was a Union Printer and evidently many deaf guys became printers. One of his best friends was deaf and dad learned how to sign one and two handed. When I was a kid we went on vacation to Canada with his friend and his wife who was also deaf.

She said there would only be between 3 and 5 beeps, but then gave her a 6 beeps, lol

Why's there no sound? (ooops! I forgot! I'm deaf)

I have significant hearing loss….I was born this way…unless you go through this…you have no idea

It's not like they killed your mother or something :P Not everyone is supposed to like that video. Especially that it is quite boring, because they just stand there and watch, they don't even make any sounds nor talk to her. I'm the Herring bag of the two so he's become very familiar with Navy terms of navigation. Often we get some Karen that says she is offended but that's where he signs back to me, she should take a long walk off a short plank

Then do research. Though I didn't downvote it, and honestly a lot of people probably just disliked it because she doesn't seem to care. This is exactly how I think a family should react to a deaf child. Wait until the child is older, if they want it then get it. Most people are just upset about really little kids getting it.

Cause she doesn't understand jackshit :D she doesn't know how to "hear" english. She can read it, notices the voices, but doesn't get the word. Meanwhile the woman is explaining everything to her Family, a translator is translating everything into sign language so she knows whats going on but has to focus. Simple as that.
