In this video I talk about and taste the two most iconic styles of Port wines: Ruby and Tawny. Port wine is a fortified wine made in Portugal from grapes sourced in the Douro valley.

Best Port ❤ Video Ever. You out did yourself once again Agnese 🎉🎉🎉
I recently discovered a "forgotten" 2007 Taylor´s LBV in my cellar. I believe that it had gained nicely from the cellaring when we enjoyed it with friends. Thank you for another excellent presentation. Keep rocking😁

Thank You for the comment! 2007 was a great, great vintage, and Taylor’s is a good and trustworthy house! 🙌🙌🙌
This was great, thank you! Really looking forward to the Port making episode!

I hope You had a better weather, me as someone coming from North was really looking forward to kickstart the spring, but ended up wearing jackets and raincoats a lot. :)
Thank you for an informative video as usual! Looking forward to the detailed guide.

It will take some time to prepare it. But hopefully soon! 🙏🏻 thank You for Your support. ✨
Port, like other special wines, is both a treat to all wine drinkers, AND a big source of lore to winegeek about!

Indeed it is. True! 😊
Great video again. One of my favorites the Port wine. Interesting about ageing and so forth. If one want to try a heavenly combo, try Port wine, stilton, of course very well known but to that add a swedish cockie called "pepparkaka" that we have for christmas. Thoose three together is not to be missed if You get the chance. :) Thanks for an educational and interseting video. As always cant wait for the niext one. Niclas Sweden.

Thank You! Indeed stilton and port is a marriage made in heaven. I wonder if the Christmas cookie “pepparkaka” is similar to our pumpernickel… and if yes, they do go well together as well. 😊☺️ Cheers! 🥂
Thanks for a great video about one of my favorite types of wine! We visited Gaia and the Douro last October and I'm ready for another trip!

Thank you, another great video! Can you once make a video on your tasting notes? What do you write down, do you follow the WSET-system or do you have your own way? By the way: you once recommended the Fonterutoli Chianti Classico Riserva. I bought 6 bottles and in a blind degustation it was number one of 9 italian wines 😃 i love it!

Thank You! 🙏🏻 sure, however my tasting notes have changed over the time. ☺️ and I am very happy to read that that wine was appreciated. 🥰
Hi Agnese. Yes please do a separate video just on vintage Ports. So from what you said it sounds like vintage or LBV ports specifically are the most age-worthy correct? Does the filtering make a difference as far as ageing potential?
@NoSediment
Ай бұрын
No, not exactly. Vintage ports will be those that You can age for decades. LBV are usually made for more immediate consumption, with few exceptions. And as I understand from the winemakers - yes, filtering/or not- wine is one of the factors that contribute in the wines ability to develop further over the years in the bottle

@@NoSediment ok thank you! I never really knew the difference between vintage ports and LBV ports, but you clarified it.

Great video. I love port…but a lot of civilians just don’t. My spouse among them. So I limit my port buys to 375ml bottles. Ports are ageable, but once opened, a clock ticking, correct? Once opened, finish within a couple of weeks, right?
@NoSediment
Ай бұрын
Yes, I would definitely finish an opened bottle relatively soon, especially if it is ruby style. The tawny can sometimes take more time, as it already has gone through that oxidation process. 🙏🏻
