Yup, before I started watching his videos I didn't care about learning more about wine, only drink it, but now I've been going down a rabbit hole.
I appreciate André's favorable assessment of the Virginia wine industry. Not only is there a lot of favorable terroir (something's got to replace that tobacco!), there are a lot of both old-money and new-money rich people who have the finances to bring in both the right tools and the right brains to grow the grapes and make the wines. It's also been around long enough and is organized enough at the state level to have plenty of local winemakers who can share knowledge about local best practices. 🙂
I've been impressed by how far Texas wineries have come in just the past decade or so. At my last job, I regularly had to attend the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association show and every year, there's more and more good stuff that doesn't have to be qualified with "for a Texas vineyard". I attribute it to a younger generation starting to take over that is more interested in the pursuit of excellence in winemaking than the previous generation which was a lot of vanity projects for retired lawyers and dentists or touristy sidelines for wedding venues.
Can we get some likes to redo the North Carolina tasting? There are so many excellent wineries, just in the Yadkin Valley alone. Also, 2 out of the 10 new winery winners of 2022 were in the Greater Asheville area!

There are a lot of de-alcoholized wines on the market now. I would be VERY interested in your opinions. Ive been sober almost 12 years and recently discovered them and have been very excited to be able to have a red wine without alcohol that wasnt just juice. Maybe visibility on youtube will encourage more places to stock them. Also i want to know if all the other brands are yummy!!

North Carolina here. There are reasonable wines made in NC. They're not all yokel wine like what was featured here. I suspect the same is true for all the other states that had yokel wines, too. Who chose these wines? What was the selection process? Also, "Duplin" is "DUPE-lin" and "scuppernong" is "SKUPP-er-nong", not "SCOOP-er-nong".
Great Video My Brother 😎✌️
Intriguing that you could almost draw a straight line (or more like a triangle) through most of the states in this round that presented wines Andre enjoyed: Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia are all part of that Upper Mid-Atlantic/Lower New England swathe. Plus Oklahoma-Texas seems to be producing a great mid-country offering. Then, of course, the better known west coast CA/WA/OR.
Love this dude man
How were the wines chosen? I would have been able to help select better wines for both Minnesota and Wisconsin.
I worked summers in a winery in the Lehigh Valley and I learned that that area all the way down to the Susquehanna valley is really know for German style wines not only for the immigrants but also because the soil and climate is very similar to Germany.
