How do you find boulder fields without sonar?

The shore line tells you a lot. If you look at the shore in this video, the beach area is littered with huge rocks. If you see this, it is very likely this terrain extends into the water. I just use my sink as well to feel around for rocks too.

Yeah, white belly, and the long gills give it away.
