I met a tattoo artist, I asked them the coolest thing they did on the job. This old lady, 60-70, came in with a big request: two massive roses on each hip. She had some older navy tattoos on her back and shoulders, and she said she always wanted “rose hips”. The pun alone was legendary, but this woman was kickass.

I had a guy come in wanting a name on the side of his neck. He kept talking about his daughter and I thought the only name you should have on you is your kids so I said okay. Halfway through the tattoo he told me the whole story. It wasn’t his daughter. It wasn’t even his girlfriend. It was his ex gf. She dumped him for “smoking cigarettes” just months after he paid thousands for her breast implants. He was hoping that getting her name tattooed ON HIS NECK would impress her and win her back. I was horrified. Never saw him again so I’m not sure if it worked or if she got a restraining order.

I have two tattoos. One is a puzzle piece relating to my autism spectrum disorder. The other tattoo is a medical alert that goes around that puzzle piece that says- insulin dependent diabetic. Eventually, I'll be getting two more medical alert tattoos. One will be Dysautonomia and the other Steroid Dependent Adrenal Insufficiency. Yes, it is a bit expensive getting medical alert tattoos but my figuring is that I won't ever break or lose the medical alerts unless I lose my arm in which case I would have a bigger problem-> LOSING MY ARM!!

I know this was 4 days ago but I just want to warn you (as someone with suspected autism) that the puzzle piece is considered rude because a lot of people think it’s supposed to mean that autistics are puzzle pieces that need to be “put together”/fixed. I'm looking at a company that makes various items from traditional medical alert jewelry to things like tags on clips, smart watch band straps, and even stickers you can put on your own bracelet, card, car window, etc, and they have a qr code and password so if something happens to you first responders can just scan the qr code, b/c all smart phones have qr readers, and it will take them to the company's website where you store whatever data you want first responders to know. I've thought about the tattoo, but I have small, deep veins so I'm a hard stick if I'm not really well hydrated and I don't want to put anything that would get in the way of them finding a vein, because the true emergency option is brutal... I'm chronically awesome myself, but adding diabetes 2 in the last 2 yrs on top of my kidney vasculitis, bradycardia, POTS, vertigo...and those are just the ones that might cause me sudden or silent trouble, I decided it's time for the alert bracelet... 😩

For me the puzzle piece represents the missing piece about myself-> being able to understand society and myself at times. For me it is a bit of a positive view because I understand the piece that I'm missing and the puzzle piece, in a sense, completes me. However, courtesy of having ocd, I'm always striving to better myself. Also, as I have crap for veins (and after having two central line placements) my neurologist got me approved for a port placed so, as long as I am carrying my "crash kit" (a few huber needles in my preferred brand and needed length, an equal amount of luer lock tips, a few saline flushes and two heparin flushes along with two sterile dressing kits along with an "instruction manual" of sorts explaining the order of use for the antibacterial skin cleaners/skin prep-> chlorahexadine scrub swab, rubbing alcohol swab sticks followed by the skin prep wipe as this order is what prevents my skin from freaking out too much from the tegaderm) I'm not too worried about IV access, although I do state on the "instruction manual" that if they aren't comfortable with accessing my port then to use an IO site-> a special needle that gets drilled into the bone and yes, it is as painful as it sounds..... Plus, I did my research on IV placement and very few people have a good vein in the spot where my current two tattoos are- on the top of the wrist above the back of my hand, right where no good veins exist on me in the same spot where a watch face would sit.

During the early 90’s, my best pal got so drunk and he met a girl. The girl said she liked Bob Ross to the death. He genuinely thought that they were gonna marry even though she was his first successful relationship. He got a massive tattoo of Bob Ross with a paintbrush covering his entire chest. The tattoo artist was concerned when he saw my pal’s state (he was dead drunk.)She hesitated but my pal convinced the artist to do it. The girl my pal fell in love with broke up with him 3 weeks later. My pal was then stuck with a Bob Ross tattoo covering his entire chest. My pal eventually used high tech lasers to fade it off and eventually he recovered. Me and him still joke about it sometimes at a bar nearby, good times.

Oh man my time to shine, I didn't end up doing this tattoo but it's my go to anytime anyone asks this kinda question. This happened early on in my tattoo career, I was fresh out of high school, had been apprenticing at the shop for almost a year at this point, was pretty much thrown into the meat grinder and expected to hold my own and I did with relative success. At the time I was putting up ads on both Facebook market place and Craigslist, with that being said that tends to bring in very questionable people and tattoos. One day I'm going through my emails and messages to see if I had any bites and I find someone who was interested in getting a back piece, I had yet to tackle a back so I was pretty excited at this next possible venture. We get to chatting, and it gets to the point where I'm trying to weasel some details out of this man because he decided to keep his answers vague. Eventually he relents and says I want a black and grey demon on my back, and I was like fuck ya! Let's do it. And this is where It got weird real fucking fast. He than sends several explicit pictures and details about said demon. This fucking guy not only wanted a demon on his back, but wanted it to have it with a giant horse cock (I shit you not) with it jizzing on his back. It goes from that to another picture of someone's asshole with a bullseye tattooed around it (so his master had somewhere to aim) his words, not mine. than wants leather straps tattooed around both his wrists and ankles and he wants all this done while his master watches. Turns out home boy was into some weird shit. I didn't respond right away and after a few days of him blowing up my email I eventually responded and turned down the tattoo and money he was offering. I'm leaving out some details because it got real fucking explicit.

He told me that it was going to hurt and to tell him if I needed a break. I told him I knew it was gonna hurt, and that it was all good because any other tattoos I get won’t hurt as much in comparison lol. It did, in fact, really fucking hurt. Absolutely worth it though! Sat the whole tat with full color, took about three hours. The worst part was the healing process. My foot looked like a balloon for a few days, so full of fluid you wouldn’t believe. About Jeffery who can't spell his name.. I spent a good portion, perhaps most of my life not entirely sure how to properly spell my middle name. :-P In my defense.. My mother chose my Middle to be the same as the Last name of a comedian she liked. Comedian's last name is also a common first name that happens to have multiple common spelling variations. I almost never had to use my middle name for anything throughout my life. I'm a First/Last guy except for those rare occasions where I'm presented with official paperwork that demands a middle name. Oh.. and it didn't help that my mother didn't know how the Comedian spelled his last name when she filled out the paperwork to register mine after my birth. There is a period in my childhood where I consistently misspelled my middle name because I was using the correct spelling for that Comedian's name... other times I just used whatever spelling came to mind at that moment. I always wondered if there's some document in my grammar and high school records that lists all the aliases I had inadvertently used over the course of my Education to that point. But first name? How do you make it to adulthood like that?

My aunt does not know ANY Japanese, and her 20 something butt trusted the shady ass tat shop guy doing the design to translate it for her. She gets the tattoo but as time goes on gets nervous as she realizes she has no idea what is actually tattooed on her arm. Eventually makes friends with someone who speaks and reads Japanese and asks for the translation. The following exchange happens. Friend: (intently stares at tattoo for 10 seconds silently) "what did you think this said?" Aunt: "to live for today" Friend:".........it's close" Aunt: "what does it say?" Friend: "needs help living". Aunt still has the tattoo unaltered 20 years later and continuously makes jokes about its supposed accuracy.

One's cutie mark shows your destiny or special talent in life. So it should be a personalized thing not copying someone. Though I think they make more sense on ponies that live in a magical land, then on a human. Especially since ponies don't have to wear pants so others can actually see it.

  • @Just1Nora

    @Just1Nora

    Жыл бұрын

Tattoos should always be for the individual first. If it brings him joy that he knows that he has his own cutie marks then more power to him! As long as he is happy with it then it doesn't really matter if other people see it, unless his objective was to get a tattoo to be seen. Then we better hope he works in a non traditional strip club! I have a trail of small black footprints across my shoulders. I should have had the artist redo the stencil because I wanted them higher up, but he was in training and it was my first tattoo and I was still a human doormat, but not the point. The prints were inked from the feet of my favorite pet rat, so he'll run across my shoulders for the rest of my life, as will my other babies in spirit. The thing is, without being shirtless or wearing a low cut shirt and standing in front of a mirror I can't see it, but I know his little feet are with me coming up on 14 years now. I got it over a year before he passed. The point is that I can basically only see it with my shirt off, but it doesn't make me any less happy that I got it where I did. It still has significance, and anyone who owns rats will tell you about how they love to run across and just chill on your shoulders. I fell asleep during my tattoo, and was jarred awake when this huge dude was squealing like a 13 year old girl! Me and my tattoo artist were trying so hard not to laugh too loud.

My artist said it's always the big guys that suffer the most. I'm skinny and was even skinnier when I got the inside of my upper arm done. Yeah, near the armpit isn't nice and shading with 10 needles simultaneously sucks, but apparently many tough guys either tap out or pass out in that area.

Wow, inner arm was probably THE most pain I ever had in a range where I could barely stay cool without breaking down. If I ever put more in that place I'll use strong painkillers for sure. But the artist really put the needle too deep and too often into that one spot, the skin there literally fell out and needed to heal for months and the color was totally mixed up because of this.

15:12 about tattoos in you’re mouth, my older sister, a vegan, got the word “veggies” tattooed either under her tongue or the inside of her lower lip, I forget. So yes, it is possible to get a mouth tattoo. With a very uneducated guess with no research done at all, I’d assume the main risk of getting a tattoo in your mouth like that would be infection during the recovery process due to bacteria in our saliva.

My buddy dated this girl that had "C*NT" tattooed to the inside of her lip and she wore it with pride. One night she came home drunk after the bars closed wanting to get laid but my buddy was trying to sleep cuz he had to work in the morning. She got all pissed off and started wailing on him to the point that he called the cops. Cops show up and she bursts into tears saying she was afraid for her life. It was her apartment so the cops took her side and arrested my buddy. On the way out the door, she says wait i don't want him to get cold and comes up to wrap him up in a jacket since he was wearing nothing but pajama bottoms and it was winter. Nice gesture right? Nah. She slipped a pipe and a bag of weed into the pocket of the jacket before sending him off with the cops. I guess that's what he gets. The girl literally came with a warning label.

I only have one tattoo and getting an artist to do it was a challenge. Wanted someone who was really good with colors, had a few people who tried convincing me not to do it cause it was too big and part of it covers the back of my hand, but I was determined. After one artist rejected me with bogus reasons (I'm not white trash, I'm Hispanic, and I'm older than 21), I found an artist that was highly requested who accepted me. It took months because of the detail and the amount of pain I could resist per appointment. I was picky too. But the end result was beautiful. I still have it to this day and I love it. Tattoos are for life, so you should be picky.

Not a tattoo story, but one time we were learning how to give fractions common denominators with a hook-shaped method. We got to chose to potential names, so we chose candy-cane method or fish hook method. Keep in mind, it was around Christmas time. Me and a few other guys chose fishing hook method, I mostly chose it because it wouldn’t be season reliant, but somehow candy cane method won. The Christmas themed Christmas present mention reminded me of that, bad times. Bad times.

i'm not a tattoo artist but from what i've heard, getting a tattoo on the inside of your mouth is ultimately pointless. it's super painful, hard to do, and it fades super quick. probably a super expensive tattoo if you actually want it to last since you'd most likely have to make constant appointments to touch it up once it starts to fade, also, literally no one but you and the artist will know it's there.

After working in hospitals for a half-century, I've seen a lot of tattoos. One funny story from many years ago involves a prison inmate who was in surgery for a cystoscopy. He had the stereotypical crude tattoos of hinges at his elbows and 'love' and 'hate' on his knuckles. After he was anesthetized, I put him up in stirrups and started to prep. There was a black widow spider tattooed on his meatus. The urologist dilated his urethra, put in the cystoscope, and said "Hey! There's a tattoo in here!" Oh yeah, what is it? "It's a sign with an arrow that says THIS WAY OUT."

15:30 it can be done; the inside of your lip is just a soft layer of skin that is constantly lubricated by your own saliva, but it isn't where the saliva is secreted and there is no specialized organ there. Unlike your tongue, it isn't a muscle either. It'd be really uncomfortable to get though probably, and due to the way you'd have to stretch your lip the proportion would be inconsistent. Biggest concern is infection, human saliva is *very* toxic, lots of bacteria and the food debris is an inflammatory, and I don't see a person performing reasonable aftercare on their inner lip; if they manage to keep it clean though, at least that section heals fast. Pretty much, you can do it, it'll work if you manage to keep it clean; you really shouldn't, not worth the effort.

It was really a load of work to finally get my tattooist to agree to make my tattoo, and that after we spent days on changing and twisting everything so he was able to do it in the first place. For one he didn't want to do it in the size I wanted, then he didn't want to put it where I wanted it (wrist) because he said it would get bleak over time (which I am aware of and wouldn't mind, it's a small exchange for my dream tattoo), then he tried talking me out of or making me feel bad about how I wanted it "upside down" to be upright for my view instead of that of others. Because apparently he had never done it and never seen it and it would look wrong to everyone because apparently I'd walk around with my arms down and outside all the time. He basically is a quack with no clue what's he's talking about. Has lots of extremely stupid and obviously wrong opinions on everything (basically a combination of nazi, illegal biker gang member, conspiracy nutjob, dumb, line-drawing non-artist. But at least in the end I got a somewhat nice looking version of a tattoo version of my ideas that I'm fine with, without him asking too many questions about the meaning, when the meaning is THAT intimate that most wouldn't have done it or would have tried to fight me.

So no an artist and not at a tattoo place but about 13 years ago I worked at a grocery store as a bagger slash cart gatherer and there were several. The first was a woman who claimed she had her children's names in Japanese on her neck and shoulders. I doubted it so I was hoping I could see if this Japanese guy who shopped there could translate and he was there about that same time every day and he was right behind her so I asked him if he could translate what the words actually said. So really funny fact is it was a menu for McDonalds. She screamed and said he does not know Japanese and how she is smarter than him. The stupid women did not know that the guy literally moved from Japan to America only about 3 years before so he could be closer to his daughter who was pregnant at the time. The guy literally lived in Japan for 60 years and was a new found grandpa and English was his second language in which he barely could speak English and could not write nearly anything at all in English. If there was a better person to know Japanese it would be a guy who literally worked as a Japanese linguist who translated different types of Japanese into other types of Japanese because really screwed up fact is there are over 500 completely different actively spoken and written forms of Japanese and what she had on her shoulders and neck was literally from his home town. Someone had basically taken a picture of a Japanese McDonalds Menu and this dumb woman put that on her body. HAHAHAHA that one was funny. The second one however pissed me off. There was a different women who called herself a Wiccan which is a witch that some morons believe is not a witch but a woman who has the power to use earth and nature magic and is good while witches are bad. In truth the actual reality is its a change in words. The work wiccan means female witch while the turn warlock was male witch. Some people called warlocks wizards but that turn did not come into existence until around the 1890s. The turn witch just meant being able to use magic or magical power or spiritual energy it had no gender assigned to it until really stupid fact but around the 1940s. The turn witch just meant someone with magical power and had no connection to gender. The turn wiccan was used by woman to mean someone who could use magic but was good but that was to well be used to act like using magic was different in the way women could use it when in reality it has no real function. The turn wiccan fell out of fashion because people did not care to allow these crazies to use a different word for witch and just called them a witch anyway. So however this crazy bitch had a tattoo of a bull skull inside of an upside down 5 point star with a circle around it which is literally the sign of the devil and not a wiccan sign. Wiccan signs were actually quite stupid because when the term was used they well often used the signs of dicks or mushrooms or leaves. Now you can do what ever stupid shit you want to your own body but she ended up saying she was going to give her new born baby that same tattoo. So she went to tattoo places and 100% of them refused and she did it herself. A few days later she was pissed off because she now had to go to court to try and get her child back because her child got taken away and turns out she lost full custody and I did find out she had a court case and ended up being kicked out of the court room when she tried to attack the judge. Her child had been forever taken away and I did find out that child had that tattoo removed by the best surgeons in America for free. That child was instantly adopted by a loving family and the parent who harmed her child is dying in prison. Yea they locked her up and well the woman was over weight as hell and well the judge threw the entire library at her not just a single book. I even heard that her own lawyer got pissed off at her and left so she had to represent herself because no defense lawyer wanted to go anywhere near her case at all.

It could have been worse than the MacDonalds menu. Someone could have posted a fake Japanese menu for a high end restaurant on social media which she thought 'cool' to make a tattoo of. But it could have been the price list for a brothel's services. (BTW - I don't have any personal experience - but imagine they might have them - rather like salons.) My Japanese teacher made sure to have us learn several specific Kanji based on tattoos she had seen around town, figuring if we saw them, we could get a laugh. Most were unaware of what their tattoos meant, thinking they meant the typical strength, honor, sword etc. One guy I saw, big burly biker guy thought he had warrior and honor, when they actually meant pretty (or beautiful, but pretty is funnier in this case) princess. Another guy, also pretty big and burly, was the reason why we have to use the word most since he was aware that he had naked on one arm and beauty on the other.
