Gender neutral needs to stop being sad beige. I'm putting my kids in fun clothing that shows I'm not a depressing parent so that when you inevitably misgender my child I can go "OKAY BUT THEY'RE WEARING A SWEET SHARK ONESIE, RIGHT?" And I'm not washing children stains off of beige. There's so much wrong with it. Why all that impossible laundry, why make a miserable choice in clothing for a child, and then getting mad about your life choices? You could pick FUN gender neutral but you went with miserable. It's not our fault.

When I was a teen, my group of friends were making fun of each other's nicknames when we were kids. This girl made fun of my nickname and said I should be called thick lips instead. Thick Lips during that time was considered weird or funny. She even gestured a kissy lips to mock me. We all laughed and I didn't get offended but I thought of something to get back at her. Her nickname was Babe so I said "Isn't that the movie with a cute baby pig." She huffed and walked out saying I offended her. She isn't fat and that time that movie was very popular. After that she started to bully me and always yelling thick lips whenever I walk pass by her house. We did became friends again years later but she used me, borrowed money from me and whenever I asked her if I can have some of the money she borrowed since I do needed it that time she told me I am a narrow minded, heartless friend. I cut her off in my life and up to now, she is trying to contact me on Facebook but I kept on ignoring her. She never bothered me again.

As disabled/neurodivergent, god I hate it when people tell others to stop using words like 'crazy' and 'lame'. I'm lame and it's a completely accurate word to describe something crappy and frustrating! And yeah, I've done strange and crazy things -- that's why they call it mental illness. FFS, people, we're not china dolls you have to wrap in cotton wool -- we're individuals with the ability to process things like conversational nuance and context. It's actually more tiring to me than actual lack of accessibility -- tbh, being disabled is better understood and easier to practically assist with than other marginalisations, and things are a LOT better than they used to be thanks to both awareness of rights and support for where we do need practical and financial assistance (which is where we diverge from other groups in that even if everyone was perfectly understanding and everything was completely accessible, we'd still be routinely in pain or struggling with a fight between body and mind and that is the hardest part of living with disability). However in most of these situations, if people put as much effort into making a practical difference as they do fingerwagging other people, mostly people who basically agree with them on the main things anyway, life for genuinely marginalised people would be so much better across the board. Most of these examples are of people trying to use paracetamol to cure a brain tumour -- they're treating the symptoms, not the cause. Self-righteousness can strike at any time and let this be a warning to you if you start off down these kinds of paths -- you'll only end up doing more damage to the cause if you piss all your energy down the drain on Twitter or wherever. Get off the internet and DO SOMETHING TO HELP.

I was unsure if I had or not at first as I am a sailor. But no other adult could remember me saying anything "bad". So we asked the kid what it was, but they refused to say it as it was a "bad" word. It took a few minutes for one of the others to figure out we were talking about the roads and i had said asphalt. All of us combined could not convince that kid it was not a bad word.

Me and my best friend were in maths. She went up to get a whiteboard pen so we could write down the answers to our maths questions on the big whiteboard behind us. As she was coming back with the pen she bumped into another girl (this girl had bullied me quite a bit) and my friend made a sort of face where she looked like she just ate a lemon and was trying not to laugh because it was an awkward situation. This made me laugh at her face, but the other girl looked at me and went, 'Why are you laughing at me?' and stormed off. She didn't realise I wasn't laughing at her. She and her equally bratty friend proceed to draw a picture of me and list all the things wrong with me to make me feel awful. Now, whenever we're in the same class and I laugh at something, she looks at me immediately to check if I am laughing at her when I could not care less about what she does.

8:30 Even if it was a "Honda is a Japanese company so they can't do anything Christmas-y" is weird because Christmas is celebrated in Japan, just not the traditional way Westerners do. Christmas in Japan is basically their version of Valentines Day and is a Holliday spent with a lover eating fried chicken that takes place on Christmas Day. It's still dumb even if you remove the aspect that the cars are made in the US, Jesus existed long before the US, and that Holliday doesn't necessarily mean Christmas.

I was confused, so she explained it was rude because they were paying for their meal and you only say 'enjoy your meal' if you're *giving* it to someone. I was very confused and worried that I'd been rude to customers, so I asked my other coworkers if this was a thing, and they were all equally flabbergasted. When the first coworker noticed me asking our shift manager, she got really upset and called me a snitch.

Personal real life examples... In 4th Grade I had a teacher pull me out of class and give me a detention for speaking in what she called "a racist Irish accent" I'm actually of Irish decent and there's nothing racist about it. One time while I was working in theater, there was a kid who was in this show I was working on. The kid liked to climb on things and I actually had to tell him a few times not to climb up on the sprinkler pipes. This was an emergency sprinkler system in case of fires and the building we were in had actually already burned down and been rebuilt about three different times so not really safe to be hanging from those pipes like monkey bars. Anyway I started referring to this kid as "Monkey" and one of the ladies who worked in the prop shop heard this and got offended telling me "He has a name, use it!" I ended up talking to him after asking him if it bothered him when I called him Monkey, he was perfectly fine, did not care one bit. His older sister also worked with us and I spoke to their parents to see if anyone in their family actually had a problem, it seemed the only person who had an issue with it was this one woman who is not even related to them and couldn't mind her own business when it doesn't involve her in the slightest. I can understand she probably thought she was standing up for this kid but maybe actually talk to the kid first and find out if they have an issue before assuming it's a problem. Some examples I've seen online... Christians complaining about red cups at Starbucks. In general the whole "War on Christmas" thing seems to be entirely made up in their own heads cause literally no one is telling them they can't celebrate Christmas but I think getting upset because of red cups is the absolute dumbest thing I've ever seen them get offended by. On the opposite end of that spectrum, people getting offended by "Cultural Appropriation" is really dumb. See back when I was a kid growing up we called that Cultural Appreciation not Appropriation. The whole point was to learn about other cultures but all this gate keeping who can and can't eat a gawd damn taco, all that does is keeps our cultures separated from each other. It's also really hypocritical when most of the people complaining about cultural appropriation are guilty of it themselves. They aren't trying to learn about where they came from or embracing their heritage, they're just claiming it as their own and gate keeping it from others. Cultures are meant to be shared not segregated. Speaking of segregation and stupid things to be offended by. I also saw a video where a white woman was getting offended because a white man was baby sitting a friend's child who happened to be black. This woman accused the man of being racist because he had a black child in his house and then she proceeded to claim that segregation needed to be brought back to school to keep white children and black children from intermixing with each other. She was accusing someone of being racist who actually wasn't while making the most racist statements a person could possibly claim without saying the N word. How this white woman can claim she isn't racist while being offended by the mere existence of a black child is a complete mystery to me. Another stupid thing I've seen people get offended by... gay people exist. People literally sent death threats to a FOUR YEAR OLD because a lesbian couple appeared in an episode of a TV show she was on. The mere existence of a child having 2 moms, they didn't even kiss or anything, they were on screen for less than 5 minutes and weren't even the main focus of the episode but just them existing sparked enough outrage for people to threaten a 4 year old child. I don't know why they thought she had any control what so ever over who got to be on this Disney show but people actually addressed the complaints to the child actress. The lesbian couple never appeared in the series again after that one episode and the series as a whole was cancelled soon after out of fear for the safety of the 4 year old. I'm more offended that anyone thought it was OK to threaten a child. Gay people exist, get over it.

I tend to write for fun, and I've seen more than a few interesting reactions. One guy I encountered hated any story where a dragon lost, claiming it to be unrealistic. Turns out, lots of folk hate him, and he's been blocked on several writing sites. Not too long ago, I was talking to another guy, on another writing site, about terrible reviews we'd gotten. I mentioned the one review I'd gotten from this particular reviewer, only for the guy I was talking to to go - "Wait, that dude sounds familiar!" When I namedropped the reviewer's username, this guy was like, "Yeah - I've come across that guy - dude even made a revenge-fic involving some of my characters, without getting my permission!" Funny how that sort of thing sticks in your mind. Then there's the case involving a group of writers/illustrators that have a series, where, to be fair, I *am* a Jerk, but the others involved are also Jerks, as they like to make humans overly submissive pets/slaves to creatures that only see humans as lunch. Now, it's not that the creatures see humans as lunch that bothers me - as that writing site is known for such things - but when they discuss a resistance group in one of the stories, said resistance group is so ineffective, your stereotypical street gang might make for a better resistance group, as this group gets wiped out by a group of wolves - not werewolves that can only be seriously harmed by silver - but by ordinary grey wolves. Worse than that, not one of these resistance guys had a weapon - not even a basic spear or wooden club - to defend themselves from said wolves, beyond their fists and feet. Needless to say, while I politely pointed out these issues, this group decided to respond with such vulgarity, I have to wonder if they talk like that in daily life, or if they never learned that polite speaking is the way to go. Needless to say, they don't like my criticism, and I don't much care for their language.

Just recently a friend of mine who has quite a few tattoos on his arms had some Karen come up to him and tell him I am highly offended by tattoos you have to cover them up. For the record there was nothing obscene about any of his tattoos. One is a design of something that looks like Thor's hammer, another is the assassin's creed symbol and another is a tattoo of a bird called a Tui native to New Zealand and is also the name of his son. She once again repeated that she found tattoos offensive and that he needed to cover them up he just looked her in the face and said oh I'm sorry was this the part where I'm supposed to give a shit?

At my old job, I was standing at the register talking to my coworker about babysitting for a pastor and I made a joke about how if I do a bad job, I receive eternal damnation. A customer approached my register at the same time and angrily asked what I was saying about eternal damnation. I told him it was nothing, I was just making a joke to my coworker. He yelled at me that hell is nothing to joke about. I let out an awkward sorry and the rest of the transaction was in total silence while he glared at me the entire time. Another time at the same job, I asked a customer if he had membership with our store, as we're supposed to do with everyone. He said he didn't and he's not interested. The thing is, if there's an item on sale, you need membership to get the sale price. Membership is free and takes less than a minute to enroll. The guy got furious his items weren't at the sale price, so I explained all of that to him, but he wasn't having any of it. The woman behind him even said that he can use her account number to get the discount, which is allowed and I agreed that I was willing to do that so he could get the sale price. But instead he screamed at both of us and stomped out of the store, leaving all of his items behind. The lady was so sweet tho and apologized on behalf even tho they didn't know each other and she did nothing wrong. ANOTHER guy, same job, came in asking for a specific brand of dog food. I told him the aisle number, what side of the aisle, and which shelf he could find it on. He found it within 30 seconds, but was furious I didn't accompany him over there. I was training a new hire on the register and wasn't allowed to leave her by herself. I tried explaining that to him but he wouldn't stop yelling at me about what a bad employee I am. So tldr, customers got mad at me for making a mild joke about Hell, asking if they wanna use someone else's store membership, and not holding someone's hand to walk a few feet to find something.

I met a super cute, nice guy at a bar. We took a while to introduce ourselves. When we finally did, we shook hands. Next thing I know, he says, "Are you SERIOUS right now?" I asked him what he meant. He then said, "I saw you wipe your hand on your skirt. You think I'm too gross to shake hands with, yet you waste my time talking to me?" He then turned and stomped away like a child throwing a tantrum. In short, he got offended because I absentmindedly touched my skirt after we shook hands. ETA: Some black people (such as mysel) actually prefer to be called "black" over "African American" and REALLY wish that people would stop getting offended on our behalf. When I was a kid, there was a half Catholic half Public school called St Cecilia and Westervelts. We lived on the wrong side of the street for the public school boundaries and because my mother was baptised as a child we were permitted to go to the Catholic school. I got an in-school suspension for saying there was no god and laughing at my teacher when she said to the other students that God would punish me at the end of the day. When I was in the office I was told that my class was going to gym class which was my favorite class, so I left the office and attempted to join my fellow classmates for physical education. The principal came storming down. The hall grabbed me by the hair and the left wrist and dragged me kicking and screaming down the hall to the office. She pulled a big chunk of my hair out and left these scars that I can still see to this day when I look at my left wrist. I was then given a full suspension for 2 weeks. Nothing was done about the physical assault, I was given a Happy meal. Even at the time I knew that was fucking bullshit. This was 2003 middle school Brampton Ontario Canada.

I have to wonder about the door one. How soon did he open the door for her? In the story, it stated that he waited for her. If someone opens a door when I am more than a couple of steps away from the door, it pisses me off. Then, when I don't hurry myself to get to the door within his imaginary time-frame, it pisses him off. Just because you decided that you needed to open a door for me when I'm over ten feet away from the door does NOT mean that I am going to rush myself to make you feel better. Don't want to wait? Don't open the door for me then. Also, it makes me extremely uncomfortable to have someone staring at me as if I owe them for something I didn't ask them to do. Should the dad have to do a 2-day course on it? No. However, maybe only keep the door open for someone if they are literally right behind you. Problem solved.

"Don't Use the Lord's Name in Vain"... That one always amuses me, because the people who typically say that are just broadcasting their own ignorance of their own faith, lol. Had they ever read the Bible, they would know what that means. It means (paraphrasing), "don't attempt to put words in God's mouth"... i.e. Don't invoke the name of God (Jesus, The Church, etc.) to further your own agenda. Examples: Exclaiming "Jesus Christ!" is NOT taking the lord's name in vain. However (quoting the Westborough Baptists) saying "God hates Jews" IS taking the Lord's name in vain, and is painfully ironic on multiple levels. Had they actually read the Bible, and weren't simply cherry-picking the more quotable phrases, devoid of context, they would find that the meaning is spelled out rather explicitly, leaving no room for ambiguity. But the ones who use that phrase in such a context have clearly never even read their own bible, or at least didn't have the 3rd grade reading comprehension needed to understand it. And so here I am, again... an Atheist explaining their own book to them, lol. But they really should understand this, as it's one of the sins they are most often guilty of, so it's worth taking the time to explain it. My good intentions aside, I'm sure someone will take offense to that. As they are fond of saying "The road to hell is paved in good intentions". Well, then I guess that's where I'm going, lol. But more and more it seems the road to heaven is just a short-bus plodding along in the slow lane with its blinker on the whole way, lol. Just read your book, it's not a lot of homework for something that you intend to model your whole life after.

This is correct. The nuns who taught me said "Goddamn" is a particularly bad one. To break it down, that's "God condemn" this thing. (oooh I learned so much fun grammar and history of words) We usually just scream this when we stub our toe but when you say that consciously (which was the point) that you have no idea what God's intentions are and stop pretending you know. This is a great way to get yourself an Old Testament frying or, when you die, a nasty reckoning because you decided to act like you knew God's personal business when you don't. Plenty of passages on "don't trust these types of people" and yet... we have these types of people walking around. That's it. That's taking the Lord's name in vain. You cannot do these things. This had an added bonus of making "swear" words a lot less appealing to children. Suddenly they were not forbidden words and after a single day of a few f bombs there was nothing else said. Great way to teach kids. Hats off to these women, they knew what they were doing and I'm taking that trick with me! Just don't do it in front of the grandmas, you don't wanna kill them. The more you read of the Bible, the more likely you're to become an atheist. Or you just don't know what you align yourself with but since you read this book you make it everyone else's problem and you troll fundies on Instagram cause fundie moms get so offended... Yeah I'm the latter. Hope those nuns are real proud of me. Probably not but I gotta troll the fundies.

@@jamie1602 That's an awesome way of explaining it. Don't presume to know God's intentions. I wish more people were taught that. Even as an atheist, I find religion to be a remarkable thing. It's inspired so much art and literature, and at it's core there is a fairly sound system of morality (The bigger rules at least, like the 10 commandments are pretty solid for the most part). And it teaches ethics and philosophy in a very accessible and compelling way. I have no hatred of religion. But there are those who leverage it for their own gain, or to assert their own moral superiority. And the ones who do so are usually such incredulous people that they need to rely on the "unerring word of God" to defend PERSONAL beliefs that rationally have no foundation. And they'll twist their own religion to those ends, and believe that by invoking God, they are beyond reproach. They take something which could be a benefit to humanity and pervert in service of their own desires, or to defend that which they lack the mental faculties or character to defend on their own. That is incredibly sad. We atheists don't "convert" people. We don't have missionaries, we're not out to save souls because we have no such literal concept. If people want to believe in Christianity, Judaism, Islam etc... great. Good for them. I truly hope that enriches their lives. I want people to be happy. But it always infuriates me when I see people hide behind their faith to escape accountability for their actions. And it's even worse when they devalue the faith of others by twisting it, often into something completely contradictory to it's actual teachings, and then presenting themselves "Holier then thou" for doing so, lol. These faiths used to emphasize humility, but lately, I don't think people have been taking those lessons to heart. The texts are quite clear, their followers are to worship God humbly and give thanks for what they have, but in recent years, it's been more about brow-beating others. I view faith as one might view art, a beautiful form of expression, and what those people do is like wiping their ass with a Mona Lisa, lol. It's truly a sad state of affairs when a non-believer such as myself is more concerned with preserving the integrity of those faiths than are the self-proclaimed "righteous men of God". There are of course people who take their respective faiths seriously, and conduct themselves in accordance with their beliefs. I respect that. But it seems they are a dwindling minority these days.

We were in a discord server and I got to see that some of the members were talking about the Silmarilion and the rest of Tolkiens works and since TLOTR was really important to me, a link that I have with my father and a big part of my childhood I also wanted to share a few words (wich I couldnt because I got banned before I could, also for another dumb reason) and so I told my then "friend". He at first critized my for it, but the thing came months later when from no where he attacked me for it and acussed of having the intention to screw others by talking about the book at that moment and other things, not only I tried to defend myself because obviously I didn't have those intentions nor the idea that it could be offensive for others crossed my mind (I was understandably very confused when he said so) but to this day I still can't understand how that could be offensive for others, and I tried asking friends in case I missed something. The worst thing is that I came back to the server a time ago and after remembering said thing because of a friend in common and because others reasons I searched said conversation and it turned out that he too was talking about the Silmarilion at the time with them, so, if they talk about it it is fine, but if it's me who wants to talk about it and the relation me and my father have because of it I want to screw others.... To this day I have more reasons to believe he just wanted a excuse to attack me (it wasn't the only ridiculous attack he did againts me nor the las time he was a hipocrite) because it dosen't make sense, if he says so, dosen't it mean that he is the one who wanted to screw others? You can guess how our relationship ended or the type of guy he was

A couple of days ago a now ex friend (his choice not mine) got all upset at me because i said that western dragons are beasteral and are not intelagent like eastern dragons and started to show him that all of his examples of dragons where not dragons at all but snakes or where not European dragons. Really ending a friendship over animals that dont actualy exist. I'm a guy and I wont hold a door open for any girl that is not at least over 60 or that I personally know who would be greatful of me being a gentleman, but I will hold it open for another guy.

Story 9: I can actually relate to it because I used to hate loud noises, so I would’ve done the same if I didn’t overcame it.

Story 15 and 16 remind me of a relative of mine. Her son has very long hair and he’s prepubescent, so he’s not old enough to otherwise tell the difference. His name may also be a factor, since it’s a masculine name with a weird spelling. She gets upset that people think he’s a girl, and he doesn’t like it either. Cut his hair then!

I think I misgendered a toddler boy yesterday because he had long hair, when his clothes clearly indicated boy. I felt bad, but at least the dad didn't get mad or say anything. I didn't say anything more after my mistake, I guess I was just too embarrassed. It happens, we move on.

some crazy karen yelled at my neighbor and we (me and my friend) say something about her being a karen she hears us and threatens to call the cops because we were on her property. We were on the neighbors property across the street. Later she sees us and chases us down the street, we hid in my friend's music producer's house and she tried to get in. Jimmy didn't let her in. we were 10

I mean, Negro, in Spanish means black, right, I guess you could say it’s offensive to a extent, but, if it means the color black, so well, I don’t know that situation is mixed for me

My name is Alex, and its technically a gender neutral name. For me, it's short for Alexander. Since I'm a dude that's always gone by he/him. But it could also be short for Alexandra or Alexa/Alexis.
