Trio the Punch: Never Forget Me... (トリオ・ザ・パンチ) is a rather bizarre beat em' up developed by Data East for the arcades. It later saw a port to the PlayStation 2 as part of an arcade compilation called Oretachi Gēsen Zoku. From what can be discerned, there doesn't appear to be any sort of coherent throughline connecting all the levels beyond jumping from one setting to another. You choose a character, go through a level, get some words on the screen, then move on to the next level. These levels often don't follow standard gameplay conventions, with bosses appearing at the start of some levels and certain levels having only a few enemies before the end-level boss.
For this run, Pepper-Color ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/P... ) chooses to play as tough guy Santos and uses his solid fist to ram through many unsavory things in order to beat the game as fast as possible.

My favorite speedrunning memory is, after spending about 30 hours awake, sitting in the front row for AGDQ 2019's Awful Games block, watching this masterpiece get played, and all of us doing the weird end-of-level arm pose every time.

Love how the fist level is just 2 enemies and a boss
Imagine my bewilderment when I saw Colonel Sanders would appear as a boss in this game.
If you have no idea what is going on, neither do I. Also, there's some recognizable motifs in the song that plays continuously throughout the game.
Truly incomprehensible and unforgetable!

To be fair, the roulette system makes it hard to stay on W-fist, while kamakura (ninja) keeps their speed all game. It's just that W-fist is so amazing.

6:28 The big head is a hoodoo doll in StarTropics 1 and a mashing mallet enemy is in StarTropics 2, though these games were published after this one. Is there some cultural significance to these enemies?

It's a dogu head the dogu are part of japanese mythology look them up on Google they are super interesting the date all the way back to 14000 b.c. so super old stuff
