Coming from someone that never comments on tutorials.I want to show support to your videos. Very well done. I knew nothing about fur-bearing until your series and now I cant wait to put your teaching into practice. So coming from someone who had no one to learn from thank you for your hard work posting these tutorials. Looking forward to more videos (would love to see how you make garments) keep up the good work man.

I bought a tanned fox pelt over the internet, and it’s been so interesting to see the sheer amount of work that went into making it so lovely. I’m not using it for garments or a wall hanger, but rather to cuddle because it’s incredibly fluffy. I’ve absolutely loved it and now I get to see and appreciate all of the hard work that went into making it so cuddle-able. Thank you so much for these videos!

Great instructions, this information is very hard to come by. You did an excellent job of describing all the minor details which is required for someone starting out. Maybe you could do a video on breaking a large hide. My friend has a cow hide which was tanned but not broke and is like a sheet of plywood. I'm sure you would have some good tips for doing a hide like that.

First time I tanned a hide I was 13 and had a bear. Unfortunately I didn't know I wasn't supposed to use iodized salt. It did have dont slippage. I also used borax to. It wasn't very soft, but was a great learning experience. I'm fixing to get back to trapping and tanning. Glad you made these videos for a refresher and improvement on my end.

Thank you for the education, I have a nice whitetail currently stretching that I want to turn into hunting mittens (Maybe) and this series was just what I needed to get through the tanning process. Thank you for the tips and tricks, especially the wire wheel on the die grinder trick. My thoughts for the mittens was to make them with the fur inside like insulation with a liner of some sort like lamb with the wool facing the hollow deer hair so I could easily slip a gloved hand in and out along the smooth leather for a fast shot. I am thinking that this way I could also water proof the leather like my boots with some mink oil or Sno Proof.

Excellent series of videos and all very detailed and informative. I've been trapping in Northern Ontario for 18 years. I agree fur prices are terrible and have been searching for a good video on tanning my pelts. We have the same tanning solution up here. I have one question regarding this video. Once you wash the fur in Dawn liquid soap, you mention wringing them and hanging them to partially dry before applying the tanning solution. Do you rinse the soap out of the furs before hanging them to dry or you don't have to? Thanks again, you're a successful trapper who makes us all proud.
