Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I am doing some chores around the shop. Putting some handles on knives and applying tanning solution to an otter hide. #tanning #trapping #knifemaking

That bodock is as tough as it comes, if you can find some good straight grain thats not prone to split it is awesome and burns extremely hot too. Gonna look good

Nothing wrong with the Orange bottle solution. Bad results are the fault of the pelt or tanner and it don't hurt your hands, your a prime example.😂

@@SpiritoftheOutdoors I was asking another youtuber about tanning and he said we are not actually tanning ... Skillcult is his channel and he is a wealth of knowledge as you are!! thanks.... I actually found you thru hide tanning...

I have seen his channel and he does know what hes doing. Tanning is actually using tannins from plants. As in tree bark and a few other things but anyone who buys buckskin wants to know if its brain tanned and if you start telling them its not actually tanned you just lose a sell so it is better to just call it all tanned . Its like getting upset over someone calling a snake poisonous. Its actually venomous but we know what they mean and if you start correcting everyone it just makes you a buthole

Hey Justin: NOW you're in MY area of interest, knife making. I use Osage Orange on occasion and it's beautiful wood. Very waxy and hard. It's great for knives used in high moisture areas, like skinning and fish work, BUT, I'll tell you what, it's some of the dirtiest wood I've ever worked with! For a month after I finish a project, EVERY machine in my shop is Yellow! I can't get rid of the dust. No matter how much I clean, it just keeps coming out of the cracks and crevices. Nice job on those knives by the way. What type/style of rasp is that? I can;'t tell if it's a farriers rasp or a body rasp? Thanks. God bless: Two Feathers

Hey Justin! A hair on rabbit hide makes an excellent "Cow's Knee" for a Muzzleloader. (Possum hides were used as well, back in the day!) The neatest thing about them for that purpose is that generally, one hide on the large(ish) side will do! It just needs to cover the lock area... and some more fore & aft of the lock to keep the moisture out. Attach a buckskin thong to it, oil it well on the skin side, tie the thong to the trigger guard, wrap the thong around it and tie it off so it can be quickly removed, and you're ready to go in any kind of weather - even that cloud burst you showed at the end! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! If all else fails... they also make great "bullet bags", as well! If THAT fails... don't stress out too much... the rabbits will make more! Reminds me of the old Red Skelton joke. "Two hunted rabbits took cover behind a woodpile to catch their breath. One rabbit says to the other one. 'What do you think?! Should we make a run for it?! Or stay here and outnumber them?!!'". It was good to see Ol' Roscoe trotting around in the background! I noticed that he (still?) had no collar on... and he didn't appear to miss it all that much! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
