For fuel delivery, we use the bulkhead one. Have 5 or 6 different compartments. Good for delivering different products to a gas station. Maybe 4 compartments regular, 1 compartment premium and one diesel. It's also good to be able to load a bit heavier in the front and loading a bit lighter in the back, if it's winter driving conditions. Extra traction for the tractor.
I'm studying for my tankers endorsement, this was real simple and real easy to understand and I appreciate the visualization that it gives me. Thank you very much for posting this

The video is wrong, Bulkheads can be sanitized. In Germany they are frequently used for food, especially for milk. It is just a little more work because you have more surfaces.

You know, we don't all drink beer in Germany. Also, a tanker is pretty much the worst way to transport beer I can think of. With all the sloshing around and the pressure building up due to CO2.

Maybe there is a solution but it would increase the time needed to unload?
@ToastedFanArt

KhataarFelMataar Surely they could just put some baffles down the length of it as well as from side to side. Then the unloading time would be unaffected.
@KhataarFelMataar

Toasted Fan Art I wouldn't know I'm not knowledgeable on this subject. I just figured that it would result in bigger costs.. why else wouldn't they have made a solution for it? Hehe
@ToastedFanArt
6 жыл бұрын
KhataarFelMataar The dude in the video says how none of the examples have side to side sloshing protection, and that's it's dangerous. So I simply stated the obvious that if it's dangerous then they should make a solution. Adding baffles down the centre wouldn't cost much extra compared to the overall cost and also it's much cheaper than the cost of the truck tipping cos it didn't have the baffles.
I made $2,200 last week driving Tankers , this the best video i seen by far

Hi Sir, Can I Know For Diesel Fuel Load For Transport For Industries And Mining, Which Is Suitable??
I love how I was thinking about this on my drive to work, and what you know. Few later, it’s recommended on my KZread
This is the most American educational video I've ever seen.
Damn, what a learning experience and sobering at that! Smooth bores are scary AF! Thank you!
I love that aggresive fluid physics
Used to drive a smooth bore milk tanker though never knew it by that name. The worst was if you had only half a load of cream or something on as there was more room for the liquid to flow. Sure felt that at a roundabout or junction!
I learnt to drive trucks in a rigid smoth bore tanker. I think i got thrown in the deep end from get go and just told not to roll it over and never did but had it on the lean a couple of times. Very strange feeling to drive and getting gear changes timed in with the surge took some getting used to.

that was surprisingly interesting and thought provoking. thanks, youtube.

one of my favorite videos on the internet

Excellent! Thanks for this brief and very interesting video! :o)
I don’t know why but I found this fascinating actually
I use to love driving tankers. Kinda miss it
KZread just decided we need to know more about tankers
Why did i watch this... and why did i find it entertaining? What am i doning with my life? This video really made me think....
Thanks, this is great information to know in case I need to fill a bulkhead
Something most people don’t think about! But it’s actually quite logical to have those chambers to mitigate sudden changes in CoG during acceleration changes.
Solution would be to fill it up all the way? OR A device inside, or rather a sturdy balloon that inflates and covers the top side and "compresses" the water down slightly. I'm a genius! You may steal my idea, but I demand 95% of the profits!
I needed this information. Thank you
Wow. I never even considered this when I see them. I never questioned that they weren’t just static like a semi
I didn't exactly want to watch this but it was far to interesting to just close... Now I want to see more!
I even had serious problems with "liquid surge" when using a forklift to move partially filled drums and 330 gal. IBC totes. I lost one of my partial drum loads, which was filled with extremely expensive masking agent. I was lucky, to say the least! Where I was working, we were also moving drums of high strength hydrogen peroxide with the forklift. The masking agent incident totally changed my perception on forklift operating as relating to safety and materials transport/movement. Liquid surge can be deadly regardless of the transport scale!! I've had lots of forklift training/safety, but I don't recall any ever dealing with this liquid surge and related, on forklift.

Liquid surge also happens when you're driving and have to pee really bad and you have to slam on your brakes. All that pee skids into your underpants

Question: why not add a pair of longitudinal baffles to handle the sideways tipover issues?
The water animation is hilarious.
I got a liquid surge from watching this video... god I love trucks.
I didnt know that stuff until now. I appreciate more now the term "keep distance" sign on every tankers
And that's why firefighters must have either empty or full tank before going anywhere, so the liquid don't move at all.
Liquid surge can occur even with van trainers hauling barrels or totes of liquid. It is a weird feeling to come to a stop then lunge forward 3 feet then get shoved back again.
Isn't it hilarious that the makers of this educational video felt it necessary to include a rockin' music bed?
On straight road, sloshing is no problem. The real problem of breaking out sideways becomes a problem when strong braking happens while driving through a curve. If we prevent the liquid too strongly from coming to the front, the truck would literally "rail off" with its tailside. So this is a matter of proper balance between sloshing displacement and trailing stability.
Why this is on my recommended? Am I a tanker?Yes a goddamn game tanker.....daym man
Whoa recommendations are the best
I am baffled by this.

Crash course on tankers. Thanks.
Why not a version with some kind of a cover that automatically lowers to the amount of liquid in the vehicle? Wouldn't this eliminate liquid surge?
What about baffles but the compartments also go horizontally so same sort of idea but for side to side motion.
I like it to know this even if I would never need this information in my life.
how DO you ID which with which just from looking???
I think that YT already knows that with all this procrastination and lazing around I'm gonna be a Tanker Driver
Thank u for this video need more
So that's why it's usually tankers flipping over and blocking lanes on the freeway.
Why do i have the striking feeling that this will turn into a meme
Excuse my lack of knowledge, but couldn't these tanks be pressurized in some way, or filled fully, so that the liquid can't swash around?
You haven't lived until you've pulled a smooth bore trailer.
Didn’t think I’d ever need to know this, but thanks youtube!
This maybe a stupid question, but, by filling the tankers to the full, would that eliminate sloshing? And if so, why not just carry full loads?
@HealthySkepticism1775
Жыл бұрын
Yes and yes. I drive large smoothbore tankers to haul milk. We try to take a full load as often as possible but if the dairy farm only has 8,000 gallons of milk and my tanker holds 10,000 there's nothing I can do. It's just gonna be a jerky ride all the way to the cheese plant.
Sad, the last Tanker animation in the recommendation list
Why aren't there vertical baffles to keep the liquid from sloshing?
I don’t even look at trucks yet i don’t own one either and this is recommended to me
in what way can the others not be sanitized?? or you mean it can't be sanitized as quick or efficiently?
Was in my youtube recommended vids.. now I'm in class to drive tankers... thanks yt
