Tamiya M-08R - Full review of the mini-sized rear-wheel-drive RC racer!

I have huge respect for the KZreadrs that are putting detailed videos out every week... I took so much footage for this, and spent so much time on the edit that my poor laptop could barely cope with the file. So I had to leave a few of the finishing touches out of it (sorry about that).
Anyway hope you enjoy this little video about the M-08R, my latest racing weapon.

I own the regular one ("Concept"), and I can agree with most of your impressions. It's a pity the regular model is not for sale anymore, as it was near as 2/3 of the price, which made it a more compeling initial purchase.

I got the m08 and upgraded, carbon shock towers, the kit rear is like over cooked pasta, yeah racing ali bolt on hex”s, m07 rear ali suspension mounts, yr shocks, yr ali steering rack. I’m really happy with it and it performs well against mostly m07”s. I do agree with you and think it’s disgusting that you have to drill out holes and dremel bits off. I’ve been running 6000mah lcg packs but have ordered the kit to use a 4000 shorty to see which is better. Overall, i love it!

Hi! Great video and great build. I have a question: Using that body (TAM51583), were the premarked post holes in exactly the right spot? I was just curious since the body came out for the m06 first and wasn't sure if the premarked holes are perfectly aligned for the m08 as well.

A dremel with a sanding drum goes a long way on those wheel arches**

Wonder why Tamiya made the spring adjuster black while all the other shock pieces are blue? Do they sell that part separately in blue and is it a different size since its big bore?

The outer diameter on these shocks is the same as the original TRF shocks, this adjuster is the one without a o-ring, I've only ever seen it in black. It lets you set a lower ride height but tends to move around in use.

I have it, but I do not like it so much. What I agree with you is understeering. I begin to think that rear-motor-mount is not a good idea because the inertia mass in the front cannot carry the rear after braking for cornering. It's considerably cheaper than XV01 because M08R has got most official upgrades in the box. I agree with this kid (or this kit) is always understeering. I don't think high-grip wheels can solve the problem completely. It's better to add some weight in front of the car. On the other hand, though "TRF" damper sets are in the box, I think they are still too short for cornering.

I've improved the cornering a lot by fitting M-07 front arm mount and c-hubs. But this car is not comparable to an XV-01.

@@fiveeight0sixsix I am thinking of stacking some 304 stainless steel fins to the front damper. Easy to cut and gain weight :D. And for M-chassis my first thought was the mini-rally class, but I know it's not after purchase. However, someone does compare it with MX-01 for off-road anyway.

@@fiveeight0sixsix good idea. I'm asking because I'm struggling with traction I race similar to your conditions. grey carpit in a old sports hall. Small track lay out like your track. I was just wondering what would be a good base setup for them conditions. Thank you.

Glue front sidewalls and reduce droop are the best ways to limit traction roll.
