As I mention in the vid, the pics are not quite the quality I would have preferred, but I wanted to get a video out sooner rather than later!

    About time I started to catch up on your videos.. luckily you haven't posted an over amount of them since the last one I watched! Lovely 'little' Corsair there, excellent build as always from you.. Gradually getting back in the mood for posting videos again, so may make a come back at some point in the not too distant future.. :)

    will pattison Exactly. I've been studying a lot of pics of aircraft and you can barely even see the panel lines, let alone any darkening around them. Occasionally you do and it has to be said, some kits do benefit from it, but for the most, no.

    This is by far the best corsair kit I have ever seen, and you have pushed it beyond any other kit I have seen. It's truly remarkable the work that you have done to this corsair. I love the paint job, the figure, the weathering, the diorama etc. You pushed the realistic look and succeeded. I am even more enclined to make this purchase. My father passed away this year and this was his favorite plane. I wanted to buy one because we used to build model planes together when I was a child and this is an awesome way to remember that piece of my childhood and my father. If you have any pointers or tips that would be extremely appreciated! This is truly amazing. I'm not a professional or expert at models I'd say I'm an experienced intermediate level, I try and further my knowledge on paint techniques and also brands of paint, glue etc. But this is an amazing kit and diorama you done. Really blew my mind, excellent work man ! :)

  • @MakingModelsAgain

    @MakingModelsAgain

    Paul Duplessie Well, thank you very much for those (too) kind words, Paul. If this is the kit you intend to buy, as far as pointers go, all I can say with any certainty is... 'have fun!'. This kit is so well engineered, I doubt it will through any curve balls at you. Experienced intermediate is probably the best place to be in this hobby. There's still lots to learn and you can achieve the end results that you are, for the most, happy with. Let there always be room for improvement and developing these skills is - for me - where most of the fun comes from. I never want to reach my ideal place in the hobby. As I get close to it, I want it to be like a leaf in the wind. You go to pick it up and it's blown further down the path!

    Very nice job on the Corsair bud. I really like the "scrubbed look" since it gives the illusion of being cleaned in a very salty environment especially in the South Pacific. Gorgeous! And, your accident with the dark semi-gloss paint worked out a treat to create the stressed panel look. Great diorama, the Palm Tree would have been nice and would give the plane and the Pilot some shade in those hot environs. I'm a Glenfidich guy myself, a quite smoothe and relativley cheap whisky (even though it costs like 40£ in Sweden). The famous grouse, clan mcgreggor, Tullamore Dew and so on just tastes artificial to me. Now, back to the model. Other than the engine, are there any more parts you can display opened out of the box? I love 1/32 myself, but i really only buy it if you A. can show a lot of hatches opened or B. if you can make it swedish. Also, does it have any magnets like the Mustang or Mosquito? P.S i'm glad to hear that there are at least one more other than me that don't fancy preshades. If i do it, then i do it on only some places and only on grey planes. What usually works the best for me is to prime it in black and then work from that and give it more or less shading from the start.

    Alas, the power house is the only additional thing to show. I wouldn't have thought it too difficult for Tamiya to show gun bays, but I'm sure there must be resin sets available now - if you're happy slicing and dicing... I now do virtually all my weathering post. There is so much more control over its application that way.

    oh yes, this corsair looks lovely. i agree, the model on display has to be positioned that way to make all its great details visible. i´m not really into whisky, i can not take booze very good :) i´m more the beer and vine person. at least i learned something new about the scottish way of doing things!

    Great model. Wish had the painting skills you have. However i am guilty of the same combination as you - Uisge Beatha and modelling and it does not mix - i spilt my liquid poly cement last night after a few too many and it disolved everything it touched - fortunately not the model i was building! On another whsky night i glued the hull of my Churchill tank prematurely before feeding the tracks--So no more whisky for me on modelling nights.

    Just love your talk about the whiskeys. Can one get the one you were drinking here in the States? I have had really good Low Land and Speysides. Can you spell out the one you were drinking? Oh and by the way, outstanding build of the Corsair. I like your "accidental" way of producing stressed skin look. Thank you for sharing

    +Mancave “Thomo” Creations I didn't. I was tempted, and oddly enough, it was Tamiya Corsair that took that trophy and without sounding egotistical, I might have stood a chance and I entered it, but once again, there was a lot of controversy over the decisions, so I'm glad I stayed clear of it.

    Hello.. don't even know and I apologize, your first name. the Corsair is gorgeous and I say if your panel line technique returns the results you're looking for.. go for it. since this is a bit of a general 'shoot the breeze' conversational video, a la whiskey tasting, etc. I wanted to ask you... it seems most of your models, since returning to model building, have been 1/32 scale, did you have any trepidation towards building in the larger scale? I'm in the same boat as you and thinking to myself constantly... the bigger the model, the bigger the mistakes will appear and perhaps I should do a few 1/48's first. But then again if you're a lover of WW I and WNW's offerings, you don't really have a choice and must jump in and warm up to the larger size. ~Jim

    +Séamus MacGinnus Hi Séamus.If anything, I would say I have settled more on 1/48 than anything else, occasionally delving into the scales either side. That being said, I am about to start the 1/32 Mossie and have a 1/32 Hien as well to get cracking on. I'm balancing those out with a 1/48 PR Spit I'm just putting the finishing touches to and the GWH 1/48 MiG-29 that I'll be starting in the very near future. I prefer the compromise between finished size and detail level offered by 1/48, but in truth, I haven't settled on a scale I will adhere to. Would like to try a WNW some day though.
