    My story: my boyfriend was surprisingly into it. He was always...concerned about me taking something every day and what it was doing to my body, more so than I was! And I should have been more concerned. I'm two months in on the lady comp and it's incredible. My body feels totally different. Sex is totally different. I feel like a veil was lifted, and my boyfriend has been so cool with it. Overall the highlight of my year so far!

    I'm so pleased you read my comment! My husband is the guy who paid half for my Daysy and is super involved. Michael asked how these conversations came up with his guy friends - the answer is because I blog openly about periods and have worked with Daysy and blogged about them! so I guess they saw that on social media... one guy asked if my husband was ok with me talking about periods online. He was like 'hell Yeah!'. You guys are so great!

    This method is NOT New. my husband and I used it 30 years ago before having kids and it wirks GREAT both for prevention AND for conceiving. Worked great for us. They called it NFP (Natural Family Plannin) back then. Great video . Thanks for educating people.

    Nfp triditionally doesn't believe in the use of condoms. FAM is inclusive of condoms and similar methods during and around ovulation.

    But the foundations of the methods are the same....determination of fertility based on basal body temperature, cervical mucus viscosity and cervical position.

    she has other videos that discuss FAM vs nfp, she is open about how she developed fam and its roots in nfp. This method is for a new generation that is inclusive of other birth control means during ovulation which "the church" and NFP look down upon.

    Aw, this was awesome! I love seeing Michael in a video. I have tried to be mindful of the goings-on in my body from quite a young age. I have never used any form of hormonal birth control, and I prefer to stick to good old condoms and I guess a form of FAM. When I first met my partner, he was pretty nervous about this, and pleaded with me to consider the pill. I told him that if he went and did his own research on the effects of the OCP on the body, and could come back and confidently tell me that he wanted me to start taking it then I would consider it. He couldn't. Now, 3.5 years later he told me last night that he wants to go in 50/50 on the Daysy! He even promotes it to my friends and urges women he knows to do their research on all birth control methods, so that they can have an understanding and pick the right method for them. Knowledge is power! xx

    Just found your channel and subscribed! After reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility I was sooo frustrated that I wasn’t taught this information about my body in high school or even college. It’s so sad how we aren’t taught to be in touch with our bodies we are prescribed a birth control pill instead. My friends in their mid twenties call me and ask how they know when they are ovulating, so sad! I stopped taking the birth control pill when I started taking a more holistic approach to health and my husband was very supportive. I’m so happy to find this channel, great content! Btw your husband is such a keeper to do this video with you! ❤️

Had used hormonal birth control before we had decided to conceive, coming off of it I was CRAZY, we knew then that I was never taking it again, still breast feeding the baby so it is making ovulation difficult to predict, after we conceive again we will be using FAM! Great video! I'm wanting to slowly phase into the FAM method, but I do not want to have my IUD taken out until I know more about my cycle and am confident that I understand the signs properly before I rely on the FAM method alone. I was wondering if it is possible to start tracking your cycle while on hormonal birth control, or if the hormones will yield inaccurate results? How did you phase out birth control, and what birth control methods did you use while learning to identify and chart your signs of fertility? Also, how many cycles should be charted before the FAM method is reliable?

    I've just discovered FAM thanks to your different videos. I've been on hormonal treatment for 3 years (to cure a level of male hormones too hight that caused my acne) and I stopped in january 2017. Now it's been 3 months that I stopped and my body is still trying to go back to a normal cycle. I am on small period every single day (hopefully not huge, more like spottings) and acne appeared on my back and reappeared on my face (but not as much as before the treatment). I see how it has distrubed my body and now I have a boyfriend I'm considering to take the pills but I wish I could avoid it. But because me period are not regular at all I can't do the FAM. But one day I'll try it because I don't want to leave on pills forever

    I started tracking my cycle when I was on the Nuva Ring. Some symptoms may be a bit "muted" when using birth control or taking other medications (like allergy meds). For me specifically, my cervical fluid wasn't very present. It wasn't until I felt comfortable and learned fully about FAM that I stopped the Nuva Ring. I think it's great to start tracking your cycle when you're on birth control and then transitioning off if you want. :)

    I love how people think FAM is a "new" method of birth control. Women have been using FAM methods for so much longer than condoms, the BCP, etc have been available, it's just not as convenient and requires people and partners to confront their own biology and discuss sex outside of the bedroom which our culture doesn't really celebrate.

  • @FemmeHead

    I know he said "new" but he didn't mean that it's actually new. I think he meant gaining popularity. We both know that it's been around longer than modern forms of birth control. Just another reason to love it so much!

    Oh I didn't mean Michael, I meant people in the comments or those who are untrusting of FAM because they view it as "new" and also that it's not as discussed in our culture or given as an option by doctors. It's one of those things where it's easier to pop a pill every day than to make a lifestyle change.

    It’s good to see the comments that some women do have the right partner. It’s kind of alarming that people are having sex with someone that doesn’t even want to talk about women fertility. If you can’t even have a conversation why are you jumping into bed with them? If pregnancy happened this would be the person you have in your life for as long as your children live.

    Ashley Gendron - There's a FB group called Daysy Fertility Monitor where we answer questions like yours! Highly encourage you to join. With the Daysy you can take your temp at any time during the day where you've slept at least 3 hours previous. With Daysy specifically, it doesn't need to be at the same time daily. However if you're charting with a regular BBT such as with Kindara, then that info does need to be taken at a more consistent time daily.

  • @FemmeHead

    Your basal body temperature (BBT) will only confirm that you've ovulated (after the fact). You need to chart your cervical fluid to know when you're approaching your fertile phase. I highly recommend learning the Sympto-Thermal Method or another combined method that uses both your basal body temperature and cervical fluid.

  • @FemmeHead

    @FemmeHead

    A few questions :) Have you just recently come off of hormonal birth control? This can really through your body for a loop, when it comes to reestablishing it's own hormone levels after being overpowered by synthetic ones for so long. And then I'd be curious to see if there is any sort of pattern emerging, even if it's not super obvious. At first glance my temperatures look all over the place, but as you start to look closer you can see the pattern is there. In amongst the temperatures seeming to spike up and down you can see the shift up in temperature and that it stays elevated until the start of the next cycle. Don't be disheartened. It sounds like you are taking your temperature correctly. It's just a matter of finding your unique pattern now!

    I have been thinking of going on FAM rather than normal birth control, my worry is that every woman ovulates at different times, how accurate is the increase of temperature to tell you that you are ovulating? I am scared of using this method as I feel it wont be as reliable as others, I am not saying this to be ignorant, but to learn, thank you!

  • @merel6851

    I have the same worries, Jessica! I've been reading up on FAM and am so excited about is, as I stopped using any form of birth control (with exception of always using condoms) 4 years ago. I never thought there was a way for me to have natural birth control, untill I stumbled upon these videos yesterday evening!! But just like you said, my worry is that I can't see well enough when I'm ovulating and that I will make a mistake. What I think happens however, is that you take quite a bit of time getting to know your body and how your cycle is, until you're really be able to use the method as birth control. That's what I get from it at least! Since it's been a while since you posted this comment, have you been trying out the method from that point on?

    My boyfriend is on board in the sense it's my body and he wants me to feel my best, but he's dissappointed and scared and wants to use condoms 24/7. I'm staying on the patch for 1 more month as I wait for my lady comp to arrive but I want him to be able to trust me. We've been together 3 years. I get as much as it is my right to not use hormones, its his right to use condoms but I just think its so unnessary if I'm not fertile. He's done research, and he's not convinced. What would you suggest to make him more comfortable?

  • @svrarararrrr

    @svrarararrrr

    Jessica Weinhart Your partner is right. FAM is only about a birth control, while condoms should be used to avoid invections. It's super important even if you and your partner both look healthy. The easiest way is to visit a doctor and to ask these questions together, and to make tests, of course.

    This may be tmi and I doubt anyone will answer but I've been with my bf for 10 years and we have always just done the pull out method, even when I was on birth control pills for 6 months. The thought of him not pulling out scares the crap out of me. So my question is does your partner pull out even when you're not fertile or ovulating? What do you do on days when you're fertile/ovulating? Do you just do foreplay and oral sex and everything else except regular sex? I'm new to all this and need help!

  • @user-yp3yj4ig7g

    ccap3211 Hi! I hope I can help a little bit. I suggest watching Laci Green's video called "The Truth About Pulling Out." This video gives tips about how to do the pull out method properly! Also, if you are wanting to have sex on fertile days you can use a condom and spermicide, as well as using the pull out method for added security. If you are not comfortable with using condoms, and spermicide, and are not willing to risk pregnancy using the pull out method alone on days you are fertile, then it is extremely recommended that you stick to oral sex and foreplay only.

    ccap3211 I suppose if you were very confident with your cycle tracking then theoretically you could let your partner finish inside of you, but you have to be willing to accept the increased risk of pregnancy. I haven't started using the FAM method yet, but I know that if I were to use the FAM method, that I would also practice the pull out method for added safety. It all depends on the risk of pregnancy you're willing to take.

    Victoria M yes I think I agree with you and I would use both together as well. I just wonder how confident Victoria (femmehead, not you! Lol) is with fam and if she lets her husband not pull out on non fertile days. I didn't think she'd answer as it's a pretty personal question.

    ccap3211 outside my fertile window he finishes inside. while I'm fertile we've done withdrawal, but it makes me uncomfortable, so usually for those 5 days we do everything else and use a condom for vaginal intercourse.
