Chad Channing seems like such a genuinely top dude.. Cool, calm, collected & yet with great emotion as he recounts his experiences with Kurt.. His drumming on 'Bleach' is just fabulous.. Dave may have gone in to the history books as 'THE' Nirvana drummer - but that first album was Chad's - 'all the way down the line' .. A great drummer & all round splendid geezer.. Peace !! Rx

Kurt was totally traumatised and as every person with trauma had a fragmented personality - with different parts of his psyche wanting different thing. One part wanted to be left alone, the other part to be famous and well known. Another part being a massive hypochondriac, another one shooting up heroin and making himself sick. One part being interested in anatomy, another part ignoring medical anatomy and destroying his veins and internal organs and brains. One wanting to be all outspoken and punk rock, the other one a total people pleaser. Too many contradictions, totally fragmented personality. He would have needed long-term healing and integration work.

Just read that this guy had a dog "Buster' that'd lay at the kick drum. Buster died so chad had him placed in a casket and brought him to each show. At each show right there in front of the kick was the casket, Chad thought Busters spirit would help him drum a little better.

  • @DiruMede

It has been years since the whole "he had relatives who commited suicides" thing got disproven. One accidentally trigger his gun in a bar killing himself (he was a cop) and the other one fell (i think, i don't remember clearly). So for the "official" biographer to say such stuff it kinda says a lot about his work.

I was 6 nearly 7 when Kurt died. So I was too young to know or appreciate Nirvana. But now I LOVE them! I listen to all their albums, I have a huge canvas of Kurt in my room and I wear Nirvana T Shirts. So for Charles Cross to take the piss put of younger people liking Nirvana is a dickhead move. I think that's why Nirvana are so loved and are still sought after to an extent, because their music and interviews etc are still so brilliant and so relevant. Nirvana spoke to people and they still do.

    1. No fingerprints were found on the gun or "suicide" note. 2. Only the last 3 lines of the note imply suicide and those are the 3 lines experts claim were added and was not his handwriting. 3. Kurt was ready to retire and divorce Courtney days before "suicide". 4. Out of all of Kurt's close friends and family, Courtney is the only person to consider him suicidal. Everyone else claims nearly the opposite saying he was extremely happy in the time leading up to his death. She was also the only one to claim the March 1994 incident in Rome (about one month before "suicide") was separate suicide attempt. Courtney, Kurt, and Dr. Osvaldo Galletta concluded this to be an accident at the time. Courtney suddenly claims this a "suicide attempt" after his actual death. 4. Toxicology reports show over 3 times the "lethal dose" of herion injected at once (Contradicting how he had time to not only shoot himself but put all of his herion related objects neatly back into a small box. You would be unconscious within about 5 seconds after injection 5. Seattle Police show very little evidence of a suicide, yet publicly announce this case closed as such the very same day. (Even claiming Kurt locked himself inside the greenhouse and later admitted this was false). They made several false reports and won't release pictures of his body besides one of his left arm they just released in 2014. 6. Courtney love had somewhat close relationships with at least two Seattle police department detectives as well as the Medical Examiner who conducted Kurt's official autopsy. That's very suspicious. 7. She was also the only one to claim the March 1994 incident in Rome (about one month before his ("suicide") was a separate suicide attempt. Courtney, Dr. Osvaldo Galletta, and Kurt himself concluded this to be an accident at the time. Courtney claims this a "suicide attempt" after his actual death. She also has several different accounts of what actually happened. 7. Courtney hires a Private Investigator (Tom Grant) April 3, 1994 to find Kurt but already knows where he is according to her and Kurt's friends. She even leads Tom on what he calls a "goose chase" to find him elsewhere. I believe she did this to decrease suspicion of her involvement in Kurt's disappearance. 8. Kurt arrived at Sea-Tac airport around 12:47pm April 2nd, 1994, where he was seen signing autographs. After leaving he mentioned to his taxi driver that he feared for his life while on the way to his home where his death occurred. 9. Kurt and Courtney's close friend Michael "Cali" Dewitt was their "male nanny" at Kurt's home where his death occurred. Kurt arrived on April 2, 1994 meeting "Cali" there. He claims not to be at the house at the exact time of death, then leaves Seattle as soon as Kurt is found refusing any interviews to this day. Courtney also told her private investigator she gave "Cali" $30,000 for "rehab" right after Kurt was found. He never checked in to any rehab that we know of. 10. Courtney's own father says she was involved along with her private investigator and numerous others. You must be uninformed or just gullible to believe Kurt's official cause of death because I have only "scratched the surface" of evidence in this comment. It would be a lot to read. The ignorance and lack of thought I see, shock me on a daily basis though.

I've been skeptical of Charles Cross's accuracy -- he's been labeled as a shill for Courtney -- but what he says here echoes my thoughts after doing a lot of research on Kurt Cobain. I think the ‘genetic predisposition to depression’ explanation is as valid as any other. I’m so glad he points out that Kurt worked hard on his plan to become a ‘rock star’ and was fairly sober and sane until the last few years of his life when he used heroin [the ‘gentle, warm, caressing arms’ of heroin, says Russell Brand]. He compares Nirvana’s music to JD Salinger’s writings, lasting, as a ‘stop you make in adolescence,’ youthful rite of passage for generational groups to explain and find truth and meaning in their lives. Which is funny to me because I’m just discovering Nirvana way past my puberty but am feeling like 16 again, CD’s, DVD’s, posters, photo folders, books, interviews. Completely obsessed, no explanation at all why Kurt has struck such a deep chord in me, but I find it quite cathartic to scream along with Kurt on my drive in to work. And he makes me laugh, a lot. I'm glad to hear some sanity in the logical explanations for what happened to Kurt on his journey. Is there more footage of this doc? I feel like Tracy Marander is the godmother of Nirvana, her support helped make it possible for Kurt to blossom, but she gets little credit. [Is it possible to correct the spelling for Tracy Marander's name?] Thanks for posting, Ilse. :>) #nirvanainterview #nirvanadocumentary #talkingaboutkurtcobain

***** Charles Cross is tricky because he writes and speaks well and is thus convincing in whatever he says. I'm finding the same complaint with Brett Morgen's Montage of Heck. Morgen has painted an insightful, detailed portrait of Kurt Cobain - and yet comes to some wrong conclusions, in my opinion. An obvious one is he flashes on the screen 3 times that Frances Bean Cobain was born addicted. Her non-addiction has been proven by the doctors' reports, is my understanding. So wtf is going on?? Now the novice Cobainer thinks Courtney addicted her baby! To date, these two respected reporters seem too close to Courtney, denials notwithstanding, and they have swallowed the Queen of Lies revisionist history. Geez, she contradicts herself on what the "truth" is regarding her husband. He slept under the bridge, really?! Wait, he swallowed 50 -- no, 68? -- rohypnol tablets. :>)

My dad was a heroin addict in and out of rehab for the 20 0dd years that I knew him. He once told me that heroin is a drop in the bucket compared to methadone. So I think that the danger of methadone goes way beyond the misconceptions that its safer, I believe that the danger lies in the idea that these people are used to heroin and the dosage strength you can expect from a given amount. the danger occurs when taking the same amount of methadone as one would heroin expecting heroin results.

duff mckagan, g n r's bassist beat heroin and alcoholism and was going thru it about the same time kurt was, courtney had sent kurt back to rehab again and he broke out, went on a heroin binge and killed himself about 2 weeks later. but mckagan had some real interesting thoughts about what kurt was going thru, like many rock musicians kurt came from a dirt poor upbringing, he eked out a living and then bam he's wealthy, duff said he new a number of musicians like this who didn't know what to do with the money, they'd buy a big house and then live in one room for months because it was all they knew, and all of the sudden no one knows how to say no to you, you get drugs supplied, you get anything you want... kurt was just 27 and not prepared for this life, he could barely manage the meager existence he had always known.

if your speaking about the incident that happened in Rome, March of 1994, that was already planned out. Kurt knocked out from a combination of alcohol and prescribed drugs. Which by the way he claim he did not place inside his drink. the same pills were found in COURTNEY LOVE's purse. But the police and kurt just overlooked it and ignored it. Also, yes kurt took drugs in 1993 and so on, but he was getting over his addiction by late 1993. He said so himself in december of 1993.

Look at the case, watch the film called Kurt Cobain: About A Son. Kurt explains how he WAS suicidal and depressed all the time. But after having Frances, his daughter, and realizing how lucky he had it with being a huge Rock star, he was happy and wanted to make changes with his life. By 1993 and early 1994, he wanted no more drama from the media and wanted to quit the music industry. But of course, someone that huge can not simply quit the music industry, so Kurt Cobain was murdered.

i dont think the three Times the lethal dose of heroin theory works. I've been using heroin for years and my tolerance is thru the roof. my lethal dose is different from your lethal dose. i had my best friend die in my arms after doing a fraction of what i did. when you nod out sometimes you wake up with a bit of energy and can smoke and talk and easily pick a gun up and then nod back out for hours. its all so sad but in a weird way it seems like this is how its supposed to be. i kicked heroin a year ago and everyday is misery. he probably felt the same
