I read the same comment under a Death album recently and under almost every album here on youtube. There must be thousands and thousands of masterpieces^^
One of the greatest albums of all time. Mark Hollis was a genius.
The sound production and instrumentation on this album will never be replicated again. Pure brilliance. I'll never forget the first time I heard the first bars of Happiness is Easy and forever reassessed my standards for musical fulfillment forever. Thank you Talk Talk, MH, I'll never stop playing your music and this album is the pinnacle of musical perfection!!

I was around in the 80's and dismissed this lot as synth pop and only picked up Hollis's genius later. There is not a bad track on this album and the more you listen to it the more you find. His voice is exquisite. Can I suggest you listen to his interviews-it makes his music even better when you see what a lovely "reluctant front man" he was. His solo album is a gem. You walk through the notes. He says nothing he doesn't have to.

Hollis is a true great, an artist who refused to play record company politics. When the money men at the label insisted they needed hit singles he gave them back to back jazz fusion album masterpieces (Eden and Laughing Stock) We won't see that level of artistic bravery again. Rest in power brother Hollis. A one off in a world stuffed full of fakes.

@@richardrickford3028 lovely to hear how great Art finds you and affects you. Oddly I missed both these masterpieces and picked up on them late in life. Was and still am huge a Miles Davis fan so I instantly clicked with Eden and Laughing Stock. To me they stand as equals to Miles in his fusion era. Both he and Mark were perfectionists and utterly uncompromising musically. We won't see either's like ever again imho.

Happiness Is Easy need to be listened to with headphones All those sounds and notes that never repeat. So many bands take a riff and use it over and over. It boggles my mind how Mark could imagine such a song and make it work. The other members of Talk Talk deserve some credit also. In my opinion all of their music need to be listened to with headphones at least once. With each listen you discover something new.

The reason I got into Talk Talk in the first place was because I was weighing up buying a pair of pricey headphones and had asked for recommendations for tracks to put them through their paces. Been a fan since hearing HIE ever since (at least 30 years after it was released - and I was born in '79, for shame).
Talk talk were in my opinion another top rated band of the 80s I loved them...
Every so often, you'll find music that touches your soul. Thank so much Talk Talk, and Mark Hollis!!! 🎶❤️🎵

Mark Hollis' voice certainly touches your soul. Had this album in the 80s, but it means a whole lot more to me now than back then. As does Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock, they are like hymns.

Still think it sounds best on Vinyl even compared with some expensive digital kit
Ho 57 anni e ho conosciuto questo album del tutto casualmente in questi giorni. Era veramente molto tempo che non ascoltavo della musica di questo livello. Disarmante nella sua pura bellezza.
I remember sitting on the floor of a room of a person I adored, listening to the album, when the main door opened and her mother came home with the dog, a Dobermann. The dog saw me and came running straight towards me, just stopping one cemtimeter before my face. My relief instantly mixed with the line “life’s what you make it”.
This is the soundtrack to my life at the moment - I just can't get enough of this album. Pure genius and such a beautiful sound! Absolute perfection!
Talk Talk is still on the list as one of the best bands of the 80s.

Capolavoro assoluto. Una voce fantastica, una band eccezionale, un suono sublime.

You’ve done a brilliant job cleaning & fine tuning the sound off this recording from the mid 80s my friend. Thank you for your time, effort & sharing this masterpiece of an album with us all. Mark Hollis (RIP) & the band members of Talk Talk would’ve loved the care & dedication to their work. Well done👍🏼😎👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Came back to this today after many years and it's one of those rarities that sounds even better 30+ years later. It has what for me is the mark of true class - the songs are never predictable. I mean this in the sense that, if you listen as though you're hearing this for the first time, you're not usually able to predict what chord, key or tempo comes next within the song. More often that not the music goes off on wonderful tangents. The other thing that I'm struck by is how well these guys could play (and compose). Not for the first time, I wish I'd paid more attention when I saw this band in the flesh, as a support act.
