Jesse Ventura was my childhood hero. I always listened to what he had to say, every month I faithfully read his columns. I learned from Jesse as a little boy. That no matter how, "unpopular," it makes you. "Always tell it like it is." Which consequently was the name of Jesse's monthly column. Thank you so much Jesse for the lessons you taught me when I was younger. Your advice made me the man I am today.

Jesse Ventura has been way ahead of his time on this, and his seasoned status has given him the opportunity to push such issues to the front without being silenced.

@@Savage-sr6lh On getting out of WWF and keeping the Name Ultimate Warrior. Vince is a lawyer and went to law school. Even though he hates lawyers he's a pretty good 1 and almost never lost. He either won or settled out of court. But it was never a Flat out "L". Never Lost, especially to rookies. Now I don't know who he lost to 1st? If it was Jesse or Ultimate. My guess is Warrior. Warrior got out of WWE with a bad taste in his mouth but it was at the same time a legit way out with almost no consequences. Other people would pay back the contract or so. Warrior got kicked out Scott free. He did it like 2 or 3 times. No 1 has done that neither without paying a major consequence. I'm pretty sure Vince doesn't like someone to leave without taking a hit or knowing they'll be crawling back. Which usually happens. I think Warrior beat him like a couple of times but I'm pretty sure Vince down played the situations because of his ego to lose at anything. He's very competitive. When Warrior got kicked out the 1st time before Wrestle Mania 6 Vince told Warrior how much would he want to get paid to do Wrestle Mania. Warrior didn't know how much to charge and didn't know about pricing and charging. So he asked Ahmed Johnson for some advice. Johnson told Warrior "Well, you should get paid what Hogan is going to get paid, you're going to take his spot so it makes sense." That amount was $1million. Warrior told Vince the price. Vince agreed, but the Warrior made him sign a hand written paper that he agreed with his signature. After the match Vince payed Hogan but never paid Warrior the million for the match. I think Vince gave him a raise but it was not the million he sign off to. So time went on and on and Warrior was asking for the money over Wrestle Mania. Vince never wanted to pay him and that's when the Warrior said he wasn't going to go out the ring unless he paid the money Vinced agreed to. Vince said okay and when he came back in Vince fired Warrior and I think Jake the Snake couldn't get his title shot because he needed Warrior in it. But ... it was Vince's fault for not paying Warrior. And if Vince wanted to make Jake the Champion he could have done it with or without the Warrior. He's the CEO for goodness sake.

@@Savage-sr6lh Warrior got kicked out. Everyone was waiting for him to come crawling back because everyone usually does. But Warrior never did and didn't depend on just wrestling to survive. This guy was really poor back then and could live off of the money he already earned in WWF. I think they went to court and Warrior showed the paper with Vince's signature in it. I can't remember if they settled or something but I think the judge was on Warrior's side. The 2nd time they kicked Warrior out was for steroid usage. The government was pressing WWF hard over steroid usage. That's when Vince made Shawn Michaels and Brett hart world champions to show the audience that steroid bodies didn't = Wrestling champions. Out of the whole rooster that used steroids they only kicked out the British bulldog and Warrior 😐??? Shoot even Vince was using the roads when he wrestled. Lol 😂! Warrior felt they did this on purpose to him because he he was charging generously the 2nd time around and this was a good way to show the world WWF was kicking out steroid users out and didn't agree with it 😐...? Also they didn't have to pay him that much am cut his contract legitimately. But Warrior still got out without any consequences, again.

@@Savage-sr6lh I think the 3rd time was when Warrior's father passed away and he didn't attend the shows. its been a while but The problem with this 1 was that I think WWF use to go to convention centers to do samples of merchandise ideas they had to sell later on. And warrior had this phrase "Always Believe" and he registered it. I think all the wrestlers would go to it to help promote the merchandise WWF would want to sell to buyers to make more money. And they told Warrior especially not to go that day. I think when he use to wrestle back then he would always see the conventional sells and knew how they worked. He surprisingly showed up and they stole his phrase and used it without his permission. When he did this 3rd contract with Vince Warrior in the contract said he would work for the WWF if they paid him X amount of dollars and they let him plug his merchandise and his comic book. And he'll cut the contract if they miss used anything of Warrior's intellectual property or him. And since they used his phrase without his permission, and it was copyrighted? Uff....😥! That was an automatic win for Warrior. Since Warrior yelled and screamed in promos and did steroids, i think they thought he wasn't that sharp. Also they never thought he would put up a fight. But he did. And won this 1. I think he got out of wrestling Scott free and they payed him the rest of the contract. I think they also payed for using his phrase.

  • @oscarvillarreal8951

@@Savage-sr6lh after this I think Vince wanted to run the Warrior out and made sure he never got to Use the name Ultimate Warrior to shut him out of buisness. Vince tried to copyright the name Ultimate Warrior to strip him of money and Vince can keep all of Warrior's properties as his own to be the complete owner. Ultimate Warrior during this battle with Vince registered his name permanently to Warrior so he can use the name for buisness $$$. That way U.W. can use the name Warrior because it's his now government name. Vince and Warrior fought over who was the originator of the Ultimate Warrior name and again Warrior won. So every time the WWE used the Ultimate Warrior's merchandise they had to talk to him 1st, negotiate, and cut him a check. Warrior usually got away with branching out of the WWF without a consequence. He basically got dismissed but didn't have to pay anything the back to the WWF. WWF would usually mess up in the contract, tried to fire him, he would take them to court, the court would be on his side, Warrior would cut his contract short, but he would still get paid extra.

Chris your podcasts are brilliant! Truly brilliant! Vince McMahon lies is commonplace, but what Jessie did was he took Vince's greed, his lies and brought it back to him. This was incredibly beautiful to see Vince losing! Sorry but I LOST EVERY SINGLE OUNCE of respect, and love for the wwe. I can't watch it, I just am disgusted by him. To me the wwe is already done! After Owen Hart, the Pat Patterson allegations, and the constant lies, I just can't be a fan of a man who runs any sport, or and company like this.

Wrestlers really do get screwed alot by promoters. They are called private contractors so they don't get retirement and health benefits (in the USA) but management still orders them what they can do what they can't do who they can talk to what outside projects they can take. Also they don't get paid royalties on the network or VHS/DVDs back in the day. IMO I think wwe should give a 1 time bonus payment when guys sign their contract this bonus would be payment to use any of there footage without having to pay royalties in the future. It would cost WWE money up front but save them money in the long run from lawsuits like Jesses. It would also be more fair that the wrestlers got something for their footage.

@Salem Al Maskari In terms of the whole Cody Rhodes situation that was because WWE had the trademark to Cody Rhodes’s name at the time since Cody Rhodes real name is actually “Cody Runnels” he didn’t start using Cody Rhodes until he joined WWE the first time in 2007 because of this WWE had the trademark rights to the name. Had it been his birth name then yes he would be right but it not. However as of mid 2020 Cody Rhodes was able to obtain the trademark rights to The Cody Rhodes name is WWE let it expire and didn’t renew it the next day Cody Rhodes immediately filed for trademark of it and after a couple of skirmishes Cody Rhodes was able to get it within the next couple of months as from mid 2020 until his departure from AEW in early 2021 he was using the Cody Rhodes name on AEW television and not “Cody” as that’s what he had been using on AEW television prior to 2020 as well as the other promotions that he was in. Obviously now that he’s back in WWE he’s going to use the name again however if he ever leaves WWE again this time the Cody Rhodes name will go with him because Cody Rhodes owns the trademark to the name now WWE only has the licensing agreement to the name while he’s under contract with WWE now.

@Salem Al Maskari As for the Jesse Ventura situation he actually has a court order so I’m not exactly sure how NBC Universal can get around that because he is right WWE isn’t using the network in the United States anymore it’s not in House anymore there they licensed it out to NBC Universal for the peacock so I can’t see how Jesse wouldn’t have a claim for this he really should seek out legal advice if he hasn’t already I’m assuming he has but he would be going up against NBC so that’s a lot of money he’d probably have to shell out.
