i had the chace to meet just briefly Mr. Ashworth thru a former employer of mine. really seemed to be a geniune person. not like a lot of the stars i met in my time with this company

Please remember the family of my good friend Ernie Ashworth, he passed away Monday 3/2/09 from a heart attack, his son Mark said he did not suffer. He will now be with the love of his life Bettye Rose, He became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in March 1964..45 years ago this month. not only was he a great singer but a great songwriter also, He will be missed..

this song went to #1 on the country charts in 1963!!!

I just love classic country. I grew up listening to these songs. This is just great music, so real, so emotional, so fun to listen to.

Who ever the 5 where that didn't like this song cannot have a very good music sense, if they like what they do today, its all rubbish...the 50's and 60's where the best era of all, there will be no icons of today in 50 yrs time, be lucky to last a couple of years.

Classic Country hits the spot every time. Keep it alive!

Here in Northeast Missouri where I live there's a station that plays some of the great classics such as this one. It's KMEM 105.5 fm. Might be able to find them on the web.

I was two years younger

Way back in the day I was a disc jockey for WAGF, a small radio station in Dothan, Alabama. Best job I ever had. Since that time I've been self employed. I enjoy my work a great deal..but that radio job was more fun than a man should be allowed to have. 12 years and I enjoyed every minute.

It's a great oldie. Now I prefer Johnny Tillotson's recording, it's a more refined, deeper production. Surprisingly the Tillotson version has always been preferred on stations playing country oldies.

@@timothythorne9464 I also like Johnny's version, but Ernie's was the first and best to me and I did not think much of it when the country stations switched to prefer Johnnys. He had more than enough air play on rock and pop stations, and country should have kept Ernie as their main play. In my humble opinion

Thanks for the nice things you are saying about Ernie. in Feb. he was added to other greats in the Alabama Hall of Fame.. he has lost the love of his life Bettye Rose, but a few weeks ago he did appear on the Grand Ole Opry Again.. in mid October 2008.. you are right they don't make them like this anymore. He is a wonderful guy in person and Bettye was the best..

I have always loved this song and maybe even more today..Thanks for posting it. Country singers today do not come close to the the country music stars of the 50’s 60’s 70’s and even into the 80’s and 90’s and then it all seemed to change to what I call Twit country music and yes there are a few who may still sing like the old Country music legends even so it just don’t sound the same anymore to my ears..

My Mom played the guitar, heard all of the best songs, all through my life! Love this!

One of my fav all-time country hits. Ernest brought us some of the greatest country tunes.

Talk Back Tremlin' Lips was first recorded by Ernest Ashworth in 1963, that October it was a #1 hit for Ernie and stayed on the charts for 35 weeks.. BTW if you can find a recording with Ernest Ashworth it will be the original cut. He told Roy Acuff he thought Ernie Ashworth was better to say on the air.from then on he was Ernie..He Joined the Opry in March 1964. In 1964 Johnny Tillotson recorded it & was last top ten in the USA that year.John D Laudermilk wrote this & many great hits.

thank you so much for putting these clips up about ernie ashworth.me and my wife had the privilege of meeting ernie through charlie louvin who i met in franklin tennessee my home town where charlie decided to move to and open a record shop in franklin tennessee.in1968 and as i was walking downtown i saw help wanted as i had just got out of the army .talked to charlie. he knew that i had been the music buzsiness before and. That the jorndanaires. elvises background singers were the background singers for charlie.so iwas very blessed to play lead guitar fore charlie on different shows and his son sonny luvin i knew too he was a nice guy and itried to be a friend to him.i really likedthe waysonny played.unfortianly sunny died one night i heard that it might have been caused by things that happened in vietnam.very much regreted sonnys death.i will allways carry his memorei in my life.charlie helped me a lot and i was lucky to that day.next day charlie louvin asked me to go with him to mcminville tennessee to work a show with ernie ashworth at erniashworths silo opry thereand charlie introduced me to ernie ashworth.ernie said hello and shook my hand and asked charlie was i the guy he had talking about to charlie ernie ashworth asked me if i would like to do a set i said yes so did about 30 minites people seemed to like me kept them dancing.from then on ernie used me a lot there and some other shows worked one show there with ronnie stoneman.great entertainern.had met ronnie and her family first come to nashville at a club in nashville called the derby club.met her mother and family at time also donna and vanand some more.will write somemore later.incidently readers all this that i am putting on u tube.i also am including more info about my life in the music bussinness.as a book publisher in new york called me and said people had called him as he has made known that he was wantimg info from people that were involved with old nashville and somebody that would have good info to share to the public and interisting storys fore the fans.so he said that he asked some people that could bring goodinfo. to the public and to the people inside the bussinness.all these posts will be the basic makeups plus some more from other people too.all of this when i am through.as my book and biography .stay tuned..title will be cowincidents.more coming a little more later.god bless.

That's such a sad sad story, but Thank you for sharing. I'm certain they're all together singing. I'm 44 now, but when I was a little "Lass", I couldn't, for the life of me understand what he was singing. I'm a night owl, so one late late night, or early early morning, they were playing one of those album/C.D. music compilation commercials with my much older Husband. He grew up on country like me, and they played this song. So now, I finally got to Google this artist and get the lyrics. I have to admit, I like this song, although I turned into a rock & roller. If it's noise with a melody, I'm all for it! Take care of yourself!

Got to play a show in Bristol, Tn. birthplace of country music with Ernie 40 years ago, Tommy Rose the resident Opry piano player and myself on the drums, he had the suit with the sequined lips, my claim to fame, time of my life. Still have a picture somewhere. Love ya' Ernie.

Too many memories

I remember Ernie had a theatre in Pigeon Forge, TN in 1978. That was back when there was actually space between Sevierville and Pigeon Forge. The theme park was known as "Silver Dollar City" before Dolly bought it and changed the name to "Dollywood". Whew - where did the time go? Thanks for posting Alan!! Nice,

I am watching a show on rftv with Bill Anderson... it is listed as it is new tonight and they have Ernie Ashworth singing this song... :- ( it is really him, I just hate the way they put this show on as new ... and they r not new. I to loved the Johnny Tillotson rendention of this the best... he was a fav of mine in the sixties.
