Talib Kweli And Godfrey Talk Rappers vs. Comics, Studying Bernie Mac, Snoop Dogg | People's Party
Музыка
On the 12th episode of People's Party, Talib Kweli and Jasmin Leigh chop it up with comedian, actor, and personal friend Godfrey. They discuss the similarities of what it is to be a rapper versus a comedian. Godfrey talks about valuable lessons learned from Jerry Seinfeld and studying under Bernie Mac when he was getting started in Chicago. They go into Instagram comics possibly being the mumble rappers of comedy, and we get to hear some of his favorite impressions.
The convo gets especially hilarious as he recounts moments working with Snoop Dogg as his role of co-pilot in the movie "Soul Plane." Other topics include A.D.O.S., Talib's beliefs on why People's Party is such an important platform, ASAP Rocky getting released, Robert Downey Jr. playing a black man in "Tropic Thunder," women of color in the comedy world not getting enough recognition, and much more.

Godfrey brings a style of comedy thats like no other. He's natural and VERY intelligent. He speaks the truth about comedy.
Don’t know if Talib and staff ever read these comments, but I am personally overjoyed to have access to Talib’s show, thoughts, interviews, etc... and the guests.... OMG, love Godfrey, grew up watching Godfrey, followed his career for a long time, and then kind of lost sight of him until he appeared on VladTV with another God-Fav, none other than Lord Jamar, who I had the same experience with growing up respecting but losing track of at some point.... and many others who are now reappearing as guests on these different platforms. Amazing! Point being, it is awesome to see the return of mindful thought. We’re here for it.
Godfrey is one of the best to EVER do it, it just comes too naturally for him. The mix of intellect, comedy, history, life lessons all wrapped in one is exactly what we need and he delivers so effortlessly it's admirable. Hes just special. I could listen to him all day. Can't wait to see him in Boston in January!
So much knowledge being dropped about art forms here. I love how two masters of different forms can come together and show how different yet similar their crafts are. Those jewels can be applied to so many other things. Thanks for the wisdom, guys.

He is name dropping all of my faves. Dean Edwards is so slept on. They did not knwo what to do with him on SNL. Saw him with my mom and died laughing. The room only had about 15 people in it and he went around and talked to and clowned with all of us. It was so awesome. One of the best memories I have with my mom as an adult - taking her to NY and going to a comedy club and having the show be about us.
