DAMN BRUH WHY DID YOU HAVE TO TAKE MY SHINE?!🤣😂No but on the real I was right thurr witchu it wasn't a waterfall but I did tear up the number one and two MOST influential women in my life were My Maternal GRANDMAMA which is literally everyday sadly no longer with us (25 year anniversary) in December she would have been 100 and My MAMA when he started talking about his Mother my mind immediately switched to whenever the day may come that mine is no longer here, it's definitely going to be a premeditated outer body experience just like he said wait a minute WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?, I JUST SPOKE TO HER!

I can relate bruh. Christmas 2021 was the first time my entire immediate family had all been together at the same time, due to different beefs...and my Grandmom was there. She had been sick and had her oxygen tank there, but she was there. We took pics. I hugged her before i left and told her i loved her....when she left, she became unresponsive on the ride home and never woke up. So what u said, and what he said is the realest talk ever. God bless 👍🏾

I started grief therapy 4 weeks after my mom passed away on 8-12-22 because I knew, immediately, that otherwise my mind was going to take me into a really dark place. It wasn't weird for me, it was just different. I feel deeply for this great brother. When your mom is your best friend, there is just no explanation of the pain you feel.

31:30 I understand everything Deon is talking about. When My mother passed, I'd start tearing up randomly, even at work. Thinking of the memories, all that she taught me. being 50 and all of my aunts and uncles are gone. Its a whole new generation of people and kids. "in the world alone" we aren't really, but thats how you feel when you lose a parent I feel bad about people leaving Deon. That didn't happen to me The idea of losing your parents is always there, but you must cherish them while you're here. Spend time. After a health scare, I realized how quickly she could be taken away. I'm so glad I spent the time going out to lunch and talking. I have no regrets. well thats not true, but none about spending

Baby, this interview touched me for real. Grief is a B. I lost my best friends (my mom and brother) in 2020, four months apart from each other. All through the beginning of COVID with all the restrictions etc. My mom was in and out of assisted living and hospitals battling dementia and the complications thereof. My older brother was battling a rare disease, amblyodosis, in and out of hospitals. I was my moms main caregiver while also trying to keep an eye on my brother. Worst time of my life, yall. Im just now grasping it all with the help of God and a supportive husband. I feel EVERYTHING D says in this interview. Prayers for all those grieving loved ones.🙏🏽❤️

Powerful - the part about grief and friendship - happens way more often than not. Grief is an extremely difficult emotion to sit with and lots of people cannot do it. It’s sad but it’s true. Which is why I encourage everyone who is grieving to go to counseling so there can be at least one person who will be with you

My momma passed in November 2017 of brain cancer. And I was her caretaker for a year. And it still is fresh. But he's definitely on point about friendship. I went out to a club maybe 6mos after my momma passed away and was crying in the bathroom, told by someone to " get over it", and just became reclusive. Stayed to myself. Many didn't understand and I lost some people just for the reasons he said. And a year to the date of her passing, I had to attend a New Employee Job Orientation for 8 hours. Hardest day of my life.

I just love Deon! I must say as a person who has lose a lot of family within the last 4 years. The one thing you can do for a friend or family member that’s grieving is show up. Be a presence in their life. It’s not about a bunch of words but being there in person, call or text. Listening to them even if they repeat themselves. Just do not taking anything personal., just find moments or ways to support. I promise they will never forget. But what’s sad is that some people will not truly understand until they experience. someone very close to them pass away. Then when you see anyone go through that pain , your heart instantly goes out to them. You get it, and want to be there, do something for them.. Because you know how that feels.. SMH..

I completely agree. I lost my dad, grandma and great grandma back to back 1 year apart from each other. I also was going through some other personal stuff and had to spend a lot of time by myself. Certain close people around me still wanted me to be there for them but I couldn’t.

I am an only child too and lost both of my parents within the last 6 yrs. I still feel the same way as you described in this interview. As the old folks say, it will get better in the by and by. I am living a witness.

I got to see Deon on NYE in person for the first time and when i tell u this man is one of THEEE NATURALLY funniest human beings on the planet. But what makes him so great and puts him in the category of like DL Hughley & Dave Chappelle is his ability to unapologetically get serious and deep. This was an OUTSTANDING interview and i so appreciate what he had to say esp about grief, losing friends and all of that. There's nothing more impressive than someone with a platform & voice who chooses to be completely transparent & human. God bless that man!!! 👏🏾

Lost my mother unexpectedly to Covid on February 1, 2021 and I will never be the same. Never. I’m an only child. No father. It was just me and Mommy. I’m physically here but never present. I find myself honestly, just waiting for my day to be with her again. Really. If you have a friend who lost a parent…just call them..and listen. That’s all. Listen. Nothing can make it better but sometimes we just need to get it out.
