Bet you didn't expect to see this in your notifications :) NOTE: DETAILED HOW-NOT-TO-BE-A-NOOB BELOW. CLICK "SHOW MORE." Recently I have come across an increasing number of noobs doing noob things in game. Some of those things can ruin your team's chances of victory, which is quite annoying.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few things that were suggested I mention, after I had put together the video:
You hold V to give gems to you team mates.
At the end of the game, you only need to destroy the two gem depots, and the two hangers. The station will self-destruct once those four modules are destroyed. You do NOT need to destroy the entire base! You haven't had to now for almost two years! (Ever since the September 18, 2018 update).
This should be obvious, but with healing lasers enabled, your shots will not hurt enemy players. (your secondary weapons or attack pods still will, however)
And finally, if there is a guy with +15k score who spams to follow him, he might know what he is doing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you noticed things shown in this video that you do, do better.
You will not get the next tier faster by waiting for other people to upgrade the base. Put in gems yourself. Not only will the station upgrade faster, but you will then be able to buy mining pods which will help you get your new ship operational quicker.
If your cargo is almost full and there is a giant gem sitting out in the open, try to get the last few gems you need and then upgrade before you pick up the giant gem. Otherwise most of it will be wasted. If nothing else, you may as well buy some upgrades on your current ship before picking it up, because if the gem is large it will sill fill your cargo, and if you get downgraded you’ll have a few extra upgrades.
If you see a team mate giving gems to another team mate, they are trying to give gems to that person. Not you. Don’t be annoying and follow them around trying to get gems. Sometimes, there will be a healer following around a heavy ship so they can powermine, and once they are both upgraded (for that happens quickly in a healer/powerming duo) they will then help others upgrade. But when that happens, they will give the gems to you. Trying to steal them when the miner is trying to feed the healer will NOT help.
When there is a large pile of enemy mines by your base, DO NOT JUST SHOOT THE MINES AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!!! This will heavily damage your base and bleed out the gems in its storage. Enable healing lasers, and repair any damage on the base. More than likely someone else will show up and shoot the mines anyway, and you will need to heal the damage they are causing - otherwise, you could then switch back to offensive lasers, shoot a few mines, then switch back to heal that damage, etc.
Tier 7s can not enter the depot. If you were playing as a healer, switch back to offensive lasers before you upgrade, unless you are sure you want to be a healing T7. As a side note, a healing X-3 is mostly worthless and I got stuck in my ACW video having to downgrade myself just to be able to switch back to offensive lasers after upgraded to an X-3 forgetting that I was a healer.) If you have mined a lot during the game and are about to go T7 (unless you plan on losing that T7 and having to fight as a T6 again) use up your credits by buying weapons before you upgrade. Spamming torps at an enemy base is always fun!
In terms of ramming your team into an enemy base, the ONLY time this is ok to do is if the “team member” you are killing was actively trying to hurt your team - example: trying to ram others into the base, trying to steal people’s gems the whole game, literally going out and giving gems to enemy players, etc. There are plenty of ways people troll that makes them deserve being squished into the base. HOWEVER, if you just go around ramming team mates into the enemy bases for fun, you are part of the problem with Starblast, on par with the trolls who parade around as maxed T3s at the start of a game, spawn-camping and making new players think the game is completely unplayable.
And finally, when you see your team dying, drive towards the fight - not away. Unless you know that you are not upgraded enough to be remotely useful, and attacking would just be throwing away a life. In that case, run to safety and mine as fast as you can. Otherwise, help defend your team. Two or three partially upgraded ships can easily overpower one maxed ship if they all focus fire at once.
