The reason why Yaddle didn't run back to the temple to report anything, because she wanted to give Dooku, a friend or colleague, the chance to come back instead of 'backstabbing' him. She actually cared about all the things he had said, so it was very kind of her to, again, hear him out. Reach out in kindness instead of giving him off to the council she also lost trust in. She is so very sweet and I can't believe we lost her the same day she got a bigger role :''')

This kind of feels like doubling down on the idea that Qui-Gon’s death sealed the Duel of the Fates in the favour of the Dark Side. It wasn’t just that Anakin lost the mentor he needed but Qui-Gon was the one Jedi who could perhaps have pulled Dooku back from the brink.

Qui Gon really was the Mufasa figure for Star Wars. When Scar killed Mufasa, the Pride Lands became a barren wasteland full of death. When Maul killed Qui Gon, the dark side became strong enough to nearly wipe out the Jedi and the light. Like Mufasa, Qui Gon was full of wisdom, compassion and understanding and meant so much to so many people. When both died, the people who loved them changed; for better or for worse.

“I used to bring Qui-Gon here as a boy.” “I’m afraid…I’m afraid it’s too late.” I think Qui-Gon’s death sealed the deal for Dooku. Qui-Gon died so the Sith could win. Dooku couldn’t stop now. Yes, even before these episodes Ep II Dooku talks warmly about Qui-Gon and even attempts to convince Mace Windu to surrender and avoid Jedi deaths and calls him "old firiend." Dooku was certainly kind of unique in his behavior as far as Sith Lords usually go. He clearly loved Qui-Gon as a son, and his death was the final push to the Dark Side under, I guess, a version of the sunk cost fallacy. If Dooku didn't go full Sith now, Qui-Gon's death would have been in vain from his p.o.v.

Qui-Gon death make Sith win double times. 1 for Dooku to become Sidious apprentice. 2 Anakin become Obi-Wan apprentice. Obi Wan is not suitable to become a master yet when he is still padawan at that time. Losing Qui-Gon was a big hit to the Jedi.
@MasteringJohn

Except it seems like he was already working for Sidious at that point (even going to the extent of planting the seeds for the Clone Wars, by erasing the existence of Kamino). While I liked these overall, this was the one thing I disliked, as in the Expanded Universe, Dooku doesn't join the Sith until after Qui-gon dies, severing the last link between him and the Jedi.
"Your devotion to rules is sometimes inspiring and sometimes maddening" Love that line
Whilst I think Dooku first considered that Mace was complicit in corruption in order to elevate him to the council, I believe he did ultimately believe Mace was honest when he said he didn't know. But that made it no better, because it meant Mace got the position despite the way their mission panned out. From Dooku's perspective, Mace wanted to clear out quickly and not investigate further, while Dooku's intuition ultimately uncovered a deeper problem. Yet Mace got the council seat because he followed the letter of the law. It proved to Dooku that the Jedi didn't care about what was right, but only what was in the rulebook and rewarded only that. He knew, at that point, he'd always be on the outside, never allowed to fight the corruption he saw poisoning the Republic.

Exactly. Palpatine doesn't just wear that hood to try and look sexy. I imagine that he does all of these meetings, and all of his hologram calls, with just enough light to see where he is and where he's going. I think Yaddle must be the only Jedi to have seen Palpatine in his Sidious persona (bar any visions), though she obviously didn't live to tell about it.
Not only was Palpatine sharing his plan with Jedi Dooku, but given Maul’s reaction in the Clone Wars finale, he hadn’t even told Apprentice Maul about the plan. Maul didn’t know about Order 66 until it happened.
@mitchellhayward6492

He knew about the Clone Wars though, 10 years before it happened. We know this because of his reaction when Savage tells him. "Ah, yes... And so it began... without me..." We don't know *when* Palpatine told Maul about his plan. He could have told him years before the Battle of Naboo even happened. And if so, it's likely he hadn't yet decided on using the clones to eradicate the Jedi. He may have, at that time, been entertaining other options.
"I will do what I must" is also Obi-Wan's line as he challenges Anakin on Mustafar. It's like poetry.

The scene in AOTC between Dooku and Kenobi hits a lot harder now. In the original scene you could already feel his sadness wishing Qui Gon was still alive. It hurts even more now knowing Qui Gon was like a son to him. It’s always painful knowing a character is fated to fall to darkness, but wishing they would turn back to the light all the same. Just one of those things you consider with every villain that has seemingly pure intentions at first, but then become the very thing they opposed from the start.

That's has always been painful with star wars because of the release order of a lot of the media, when we meet Anakin we know he's doomed to become vader, because we already saw the original trilogy.
After the young Qui-Gon stopped Dooku from killing the Senator it became clear that it was Dooku who needed Qui-Gon's counsel and reminder to stay the path of the light side. In Ep. II Dooku's lament about missing Qui-Gon and that he could really use his help seemed more of an admission that he was struggling to know what to do - all he had left was following Sidious come what may, just so long as the Senate was toppled. I don't think Dooku really wanted Sidious to become some kind of dictator, and needed someone to help him to overthrow Sidious. Qui-Gon's absence meant Sidious gets first Dooku, then Anakin, to his side, and Sidious' foresight meant he had to know killing Qui-Gon would make all the difference.

This is the Dooku I wish we had gotten in The Clone Wars. Think of how interesting the Ventress arc could have been, with Dooku and Sidious' having a conflict of interests regarding her teachings and what she had to fight for. It would also have given the Seperatists a much needed humanization instead of turning (most) them into generic villains that were just pawns in Sidious' plan.
So I guess the crystal Dooku bled for his red blade was either his own or Yaddle's...
"Disappeared, Yaddle has." "Search for her, I will." "A class of younglings, I will teach." "The Clone Wars, I will start." "Forgot to do something, I have."

Watching The Sith Lord back to back with Practice Makes Perfect was a double whammy for Prequel and Clone Wars fans alike.
At first, I laughed at Palpatine recoiling when Yaddle lifts the door because it immediately reminded me of when your mother opens the curtains in your room and blinds you. But then I realized, he's probably hiding his face just in case Yaddle escapes and reports to the council. That's really the only reason I can think of for him doing it since he's obviously not doing it because it's bright since Dooku's perfectly fine. And it's cool that this is a rare moment where we see Palpatine acting out of fear or worry that something might go wrong
The sound and Ian coming back as the Emperor is epic in the final part Genious
Yaddle is about 450 years younger than Yoda.
18:31 THIS was what I always wanted to see: how Count Dooku, Darth Tyrannus, TRULY felt when he learned of Qui-Gon Jinn's death. My only criticism of Dooku's story is that he still hovers around the Temple quite a bit, even when he left the Order nearly 10 years earlier. Even author Cavan Scott answered WHY Dooku was hanging around after the events of his DOOKU: JEDI LOST on the official SW Twitter account. It makes sense, but the way they set Dooku up in the Prequels seemed to imply he wasn't on the best terms with the Order when he left & didn't want anything to do with them.

There's still 10 years between this short and AOTC. Plenty of time for Dooku to grow even more disdain for the Jedi, but not enough (or at least not obvious enough) for members of the Jedi Council to consider Dooku a suspect in Padme's assassination attempt.
Not gonna lie, I REALLY really loved Dooku's story arc. I want more stuff like this.
At the tree, Dooku says "it is time to let him go" and Yaddle asks "And you can do this?" Dooku says the thing that tells us everything about how he has fallen this far and why he will continue to fall with the line "What choice have I!" He feels he has been forced into this alliance with Palpatine, he sees the corruption both in the senate and the jedi, the council doesn't listen to him about the coming darkness, and because of this he lost Qui-Gon. It is just a perfect line to sum up his entire character, he feels forced into choices he does not like, to do things he knows he will regret, which is also why he tries to convince Kenobi to join him, it's his last hope to change the direction of the choices he has made, in his eyes.

25:33 Qui-Gonn was the only thing keeping Dooku tethered to the light side of the Force. Once Qui-Gonn was gone, so was Dooku. I love the two parallel's put before us in Star Wars Dooku/Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan/Anakin. Dooku and Anakin were both headed down the same path in the same way Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan were. Dooku and Anakin were both willing to do whatever it took to fix what was wrong with the galaxy, and once they both lost the attachments that tethered them to the light did they full fall in darkness. Had Qui-Gonn lived, would Dooku have fully committed himself to Palpatine? Qui-Gonn was Dooku's man on the inside, still doing the right things, while not necessarily the Jedi thing. Ahsoka was Anakin's moral compass, once she was out of the picture he was lost fog of war. All Anakin had left was his desire to save those he deeply cared for, no matter what. Had Anakin had someone he fully trusted to push him back on, he likely would have come to his senses. Mace, clearly wasn't that guy, as he was too deeply rooted in the old ways. Had Obi-Wan or Ahsoka been there, Anakin would have taken what they had to say to heart and very likely wouldn't have done what we see him do in RotS. Anakin needed a peer who saw the faults in the Jedi beliefs as he did, not someone who believed everything was fine. These animated works from Disney are really making the Prequels an amazing story. I never hated the prequels like many did before Clone Wars started, but it wasn't my favorite either, save for RotS. I'm so grateful that we were able to be given more context to Anakin's fall, and now Dooku's too. Outstanding!
The episodes with Dooku were just sooo good omg I loved his tragic story.
I love the way Dooku placed his lightsaber on the table, very Kyle Katarn.
This show and Andor are top tier SW. Both quite different in how they approach relaying the lore, but just so amazingly well done.
Watching Dooku in front of the tree remembering Qui Gon was heartbreaking 💔. The fight scene between Yadal and Dooku was epic. I need to rewatch Clone Wars now. #DookuwasRight
You mentioned it but the “I’ll do what I must.” Comment goes further. Dooku says it, Qui Gon says it re Anakin, then Obi Wan says it when facing Anakin on Mustafar and again as Darth Vader in the series. I just find it cool that that comment, or way of thinking, has passed down from master to apprentice a couple of times at least.
It’s cool to see that Dooku was a Master who inspired and encouraged creativity. This show definitely made it hurt more to see that he turned.
The "I will do what I must " line was passed down to Obiwan as well. He said it to Anakin the first time they fought in revenge of the sith and when they fought in the season finale on the Kenobi series
Re: Palpatine, he's always been shown to be loose with that Rule of Two. He clearly was grooming Anakin to replace Dooku, and once Anakin became charbroiled Vader, Palps pretty much spent the next 20 years finding replacements right down to a random moisture farmer from Tatooine. Before the prequels, I always figured Yoda speaking in his peculiar way was to get Luke to slow down and listen to what he was saying because he needed to decipher it. In ESB, Yoda also spoke normal sentences too. It's only the later Flanderization of Yoda's speech in the prequels that made him all crazy sounding. Also, in that last fight that giant door being a spike toothed maw swallowing all light, both Yaddle and the last bit of Jedi Dooku still was.
I think Yaddle was afraid Dooku might have been suicidal....

Yoda speaks backwards to honour his master. In canon there is no identity for his master, although in legends there is. It is however still canon that Yoda speaks backwards to honour his master, perhaps adapting it during his time as a padawan perhaps.
In fact Dooku almost tears up when speaking of QuiGon in Episode 2
Dave Filoni is adding so much good backstory to the prequel trilogy that it's making me forget many of its flaws!
The Republic was already slipping towards the Dark Side which is why Dooku willingly turned. He didn't want to be a pawn. The Jedi didn't realize they were already fighting to protect the Dark Side by doing the bidding of a corrupt Senate.
The moment I saw The Sith Lord, I knew I needed to see both your reactions. Great video!!
I doubt fighting Yaddle had as much to do with Dooku being able to fight Yoda as being Yoda's padawan and sparring together for decades did lol.
Totally agree that the context scenes around already established ones is the best. Filoni is a master at setting them up. Great reactions ❤
18:00 I Iove symbolism of that scene, Dooku is heading to darkness, but also to the right, meanwhile Yaddle is heading towards light, but to left sight, meaning of course that she's embracing light side, but also that she is wrong, Dooku embraces darkness, but he is right about everything. Also it's nice similiarity towards Maul and Ahsoka encounter on Mandalore, Maul stands on the right side, he's not wrong about everything, he tells what is actually going to happen, but Ahsoka does not believe him, she also stands like Yaddle on the left side
I really appreciate the noticing of these different soundtracks for every moment and episode in tales of the Jedi!
Remember, the planets Raxus Prime and Secundus are two separate planets. Prime is the trash planet, Secundus is the populated planet.
My takeaway frame Yaddle speaking normally is that Yoda is just fucking with everyone
3:26 notice the stance Qui-Gon assumes.... Classic, even that early.....
Dooku's fists were clenched when he confronted Sidious. That conversation could have gone another way.
It's awesome that Neeson's son was the voice of young Qui-Gon.
1x3 episode, the mission was to determine which one of them would follow the rules set out for the mission. Like all things, there are politics, and those on the Council would want to promote "like-minded" Masters to the Council.
With what Filoni has said about Qui Gon's death, his work as a Force Ghost speaking to Obi Wan, Yoda, and Anakin, and now this, Qui Gon is probably one of the most important Jedi in Star Wars
HAha was the vampire's castle remark a little smirk about Christopher Lee playing Count Dracula all these years? :D What I took most from this was that Qui-Gon took the best traits of Dooku, to become the Jedi he was. Thats great, but also saddening because whilst he eventually becomes force ghost and will be instrumental in bringing down the Sith in the end; Dooku will become a disposable tool in Sidious aim to have 'unlimited power'.
You guys are the best!! One of my fav channels !! May the Forcé be with you both. 😅
This reaction is awesome! Props to you both.
I believe the reason why Yaddle speaks normally is that Yoda has a speech impediment. My reasoning is that I'm currently re-listening to Hier to the Empire and Leia and Chewy go to Kashyk to hide from the mysterious kidnappers. While there they come across a wookie leader who speaks understandable basic, the reason explained is that he has a speech impediment.
Don't forget that Dooku was trained by Yoda.
from what i i've gathered from other reactions, is that yoda is speaking the way he speaks as a tribute to his master, now if canon or not, i find that to be pretty damn awesome.
I loved it so much Great reaction and review as always guy's 🤘
I know Yaddle was expanded in novels and comics but I've only seen her in Episode One. So it's crazy to see her go from like, Yoda puppet in a wig who just disappeared, to this cool character who seems like a good Jedi and I was so sad to see her die. In just a few minutes of footage! Really well done.
The visual between dooku flying off to sidious and anakin flying to palpatine is fantastic.
Yesssss I was waiting for your guys reaction! Man the dooku eps hit hard. U understand his fall
- When Dooku told Qui-Gon that he was wiser than him, it reminded me that he said the same thing later, but already to Obi-Wan in the first episode. - Many believe that Dooku did not attend Qui-Gon's funeral because it was painful for him, on the contrary, I believe that it was planned in order to meet Sidious without witnesses, given that the entire Order was at the funeral - In the 3rd episode, Raxus is mentioned...Most likely, they were talking about the planet Raxus Prime, where Dooku himself later settled and an analogue of the Death Star was built there - the Dark Ripper
Dooku telling Qui Gon "You're a wiser man than I" is repeated from Qui Gon to Obi Wan in TPM and from Obi Wan to Anakin in ROTS.
These were SO GOOD I wish there had been more Dooku episodes - more of his early years, him actually leaving the Order, how he manipulated Syfo Dias...
I often forget Dooku was a teacher
At this time, Plagueis was still alive! When Qui Gon, was talking to Dooku about the sith Lord... He was still alive
After this series, the movies and the clone wars are recontextualized in a new light.
This entire arc was the best SW content I've seen in some time. In love with the Dooku episodes.
After watching all six episodes. I give this series a 9.5
I believe Dooku has already left the jedi order in the last episode, and was just visiting on business. Yoda had let him keep his lightsaber and he was still an influential “Jedi”, though no longer filling that role.
I do wish we could've gotten that one shot of Palpatine showing Dooku a recording of Maul killing Qui-Gon because it would've been really cool to see Clone Wars style Maul killing Clone Wars style Qui-Gon.
Dooku absolutely blamed the Council for Qui-Gon's death, but he blamed Palpatine equally as much. It was the first time he truly realized Palpatine was evil incarnate, from this point onwards Dooku always try to overthrow Palpatine every chance he gets.
