That they keep making the most vile characters look sympathetic disturbs me. Reva, a Youngling who saw all her friends killed by Anakin/Vader. Decided to join the Empire, work under Vader to hunt other Jedi is somehow her way of avenging the Younglings who died. Bo Katan, once the right hand of Death Watch. Someone who took sadistic pleasure in raiden villages and wanting to disposed and assassinate her sister for changing Mandalore from warmongers to pacifist. Now she portrayed as someone who aways had her people best interest and will be a good leader. Even though she the reason for the mandalorians being on the edge of Extinction. Sabine who doom the Galaxy just to see her friends. Likely putting countless lives at risk. Is portrayed as the right decision because she was did it out of love, she was destined to do it and had no choice and Wil of the Force or whatever. Anakin also put one person life over the whole galaxy and he was portray to doing the wrong thing and was his own selfish choice. Barriss bomb the Jedi temple, frame Ahoska for murder and show no remorse for it. Now is portrayed as the sympathetic. Can we see a female villain or character be held accountable for her actions for once.

Great comment! The muddled morality disturbs me. I’ve read excuses such as “redemption is a theme in Star Wars.” Absolution without penance and sacrifice is meaningless. Lucasfilm’s writers don’t comprehend the OT and prequels. They see only at surface level, i.e., they fail to notice deeper mechanics and meanings. Thus, they copy obvious developments (ex. Anakin Skywalker’s restoration) but ignore setup and payoff. Like you, I’ve had enough of justified evil. It is a perversion of Star Wars ethos.

imo this is just because the true objective of the show was to show WHY people turned to the empire, not just evil people being evil. Imagine if the entire series was just “hahahahaha kill kill kill!” there’d be literally no value in the show. Good video and nice narrative, but i disagree with it (no hate tho)

Thank you for your comment. I observed only reasons to despise the Empire from bureaucracy to inquisition. I didn’t expect or want a positive take on evil but… I hoped for a nuisanced perpective. For example, instead of revenge against the Separatists, who’d already gone extinct, wouldn’t a fear of weakness or overdeveloped sense of justice have improved M Elsbeth’s backstory by connecting her childhood trauma to her later loyalties? Again, not enough Empire in a show with Empire in its title. No hate. Only discussion.

I thought it was fine. I enjoyed seeing Bariss again, and liked her arc here. Morgan's story was nice as well. Not sure why this show is getting hate. Glad I didnt have to sit through another show with Vader and Palpatine for the 100th time despite their character arcs being completed 40 years ago.

Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine are one of the reasons why people watch Star Wars, they're iconic villains of all time, the stories around those two are interesting and Impactful to see. The reason why Tales Of The Empire is hated is because it doesn't involve the actual Galactic Empire itself, which is disappointing already but also pushing Kathleen's agenda of "Women are strong and powerful, men are weak and distrustful." Where none of the women in Star Wars don't get held accountable for their actions. Morgan is not an interesting character and I already don't like her, but yet somehow she 'justify' her actions because she has a sad backstory, I sympathize with Vader and Grievous because they're well written and explains why the way they are. It doesn't excuse their actions and all the atrocities they committed, but at least we can understand them.

@Darksidesoldier1 are we watching the same franchise? Did we watch the same show? How is Tales of the Empire not about the Empire when it is about Bariss becoming an Imperial Inquisitor and then rejecting the position? Inquisitors are a major part of the Empire. How is Morgan joining the Empire and becoming an underling of Thrawn (an Imperial Admiral) not about the Empire? What you are meaning to say is that you don't like Tales of the Empire because it isn't about parts of the Empire that you would like to see. The show is about the Empire. This is inarguable. "Men are weak and distrustful." LOL. In the show we see Vader (a guy) as the leader of the Inquisitors. We see the Grand Inquisitor (a guy). We see Admiral Thrawn (a guy). We see General Grevious (a guy). We see Peleon (a guy). The Empire is filled with powerful, tactful, and impressive men. They're just the bad guys. You realize the Empire is bad, correct? Vader is not someone to look up to. Thrawn is not someone to look up to. The Empire is not something to celebrate or enjoy. So, what do you expect from a show about two characters becoming part of the Empire, and then rejecting it in their own ways, either for good reasons or personal ones? "The women in Star Wars don't get held accountable for their actions." Morgan died bro. Bariss might be dead bro. Bariss was held accountable. She was thrown in jail for life. Then, given a second chance by an evil Empire where she realized she would have to become evil to survive. So she ran away to live in a hut on an ice planet for years helping jedi and changing her ways. All until the Empire came back to eliminate her for her betrayal (being held accountable). I think Morgan is interesting. A former Nightsister turned acolyte of Thrawn is cool. She clearly despised the Separatists for wiping out her people. Why would she not side with the Empire, the governing body of the galaxy that fought against the Separatists and wants to establish order throughout the galaxy? Her reasoning and backstory makes sense to me. She then see weaknesses in the Empire, but finds Thrawn and realizes he knows what he's doing, so she joins him. What is confusing? What is uninteresting? Your criticisms of the show sound like they are coming from someone who didn't watch the show, or doesn't watch Star Wars. Because they make zero sense. All you have to say is you just don't like women characters. That makes it easy to completely disregard your opinions entirely. Lol

One issue with this criticism is the stuff about how the jedi are portrayed in the Barriss arc. Yes, the Jedi are spoken about in a negative way, but why would you expect them not to be spoken about negatively? It is the Imperial era after all. As for the Morgan arc, I partially agree, but I disagree that Wing is portrayed as villainous in the last episode. As much as I hate to say it, the Empire were obviously the bad guys in both arcs, and that is one of the major problems with the Filoni bs. There is no nuance.

Oh, no, my young Jedi, you will find that it is you who are mistaken about a great many things. We can agree Nightbrothers existed, yes? The Clone Wars and Fallen Order clearly showed them to us, correct? Here's their official StarWars.com entry: "For centuries, a simple society of male Zabrak warriors known as the Nightbrothers lived on Dathomir where they were governed by their counterparts the Nightsisters... Territorial and extremely hostile to outsiders, the finest fighters among the Nightbrothers -- including Darth Maul and Savage Opress -- were known for highly acrobatic maneuvers, optimal agility, and a proficient use of mixed combat styles to help them surprise and best equally skilled opponents." Sure sounds like the Nighbrothers could've helped defend Dathomir against the Separatists, huh? But... In Tales of the Empire, no Nightbrothers. Where did they go? Not a single male on the entire planet? Curious. Hmmm. Would you like to question me on another point of lore?
