Tales of the Empire is the way forward

Ойын-сауық

I really like how they didnt try spinn Morgan's character as misunderstood or sympathetic. Like sure, she still has her tragic backstory that we all were expecting her to have, but after that the show makes it clear that she wasnt forced or manipulated into doing everything that she did. She straight up was just bitter and miserable and wanted to make those around her just as miserable. Also, holy sh*t. The designs of the Rebel characters with the Clone Wars animation style go hard!

They made her sympathetic until she wasn't. They perfectly showed the spiral down the dark side. She was tragic at first but she let it get into her head too much, then legitimately tried to help her people first but as soon as things didn't go right, she turned that into hate back at her own people instead of looking at herself. And became the very monster that made her.

Morgan having a chance to move forward from this tragedy, but choosing to slip into further darkness. Barris being offered the chance to embrace that darkness, but chooses to seek the light again. It’s an interesting dichotomy. Although I think two more episodes, one for each arc, would have fleshed it out a bit more. Just my two cents.

Its not interesting at all because Morgan is portrayed as wanting revenge since the very start. Whats even worse is that her quest for revenge is pointless because Grievous is dead, so her current motivations make zero sense. What a garbage character and a garbage trio of episodes.

I find the animation of Filoni so mechanical though. Characters walk and run like robots following a pathway like they are on rails, often keeping in perfect formation walking with multiple characters, turning 90° turns likr they are joined together with the force. The animation fluidity of the terrible SW:Resistance series, that was animated by polygon pictures instead of Lucasfilm in house studio, is far more natural and superior.

I'm theorizing that the friend that Bariss sent the child and its parents to is not Ahsoka but actually Asajj Ventress. Bariss while in hiding would seek not the person she previously betrayed but someone who shares her experience and even fought for the same side before; another former apprentice of Dooku's who has turned from the Dark! Asajj and Quinlan Vos are probably working on the underground railroad for force sensitives and survivors, so it would make perfect sense for Bariss to be cooperating with them by sending the kid's family their way.

The dichotomy of one character choosing dark while the other chooses light really works well in Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire. I think Tales of the Sith will have Sidious' rise as a Sith Lord (Before Phantom Menace) and have Vader gradually find redemption (Post-Empire Strikes Back). We could see Sidious training under Darth Plagueis and Vader going through the same Force trials as Qui-Gon, Yoda, and Obi-Wan had done to become a proper Force Ghost. This makes sense as Vader did not have any rage and was very passive during the events of Return of the Jedi when it came to conversing with characters like his son Luke.

Would have been great to follow a Storm Trooper around; Or to follow a well respected trooper like Fordo (who we haven't seen in ages) trying to serve; even some politicking would have been interesting. Instead we got one story ultimately following a jedi(ish) and one following an Empire-adjacebt witch. Both great, but feels like more could have been done with the promised Imperial focus.

"Tales of the Underground" "Tales of the Clone" another interesting idea is "Tales of Mandalore" in their reconconstruction phase as they are retaking/populating Mandalore after the events of the live-action series. an episode taking place during order 66 after The Seige of Mandalore. another being the Empire glassing the planet (leading up to or aftermath?). maybe some insight into the Armorers cult or about the weird droid Mando & Bo katan ran into, plus those rock skiff riding Mandalorians. end with an episode of the recolonisation of their planet. though idk what the next season of The Mandalorian has in store for us so we'll see what their fate will be then.

I bring this up because Barriss and Ahsoka are roughly the same age, yet when we get to Empire era in fully swing Ahsoka looks like she's barely aged much unlike Barriss who now looks like she's middle aged. This is especially weird as Lin looks exactly the same as she did when Barriss ran away from her. What gives?

I think Baris was done well, after second thought . I’d give it a 7 out of ten. Yes she did basically unlife herself, though it was for an ok reason, if you appreciate that she lived a full life. Lyn hasn’t aged a day, implying she had a longer life to live. Baris fans should be happy since she got a better life than most force users, there is much more time to explore.

I think this was somewhat lacking. There were some good bits: the battle of dathomir, thrawn, the new republic being just as corrupt as the empire. I liked seeing the Venators continuing to flank the ISDs - seriously, the Empire couldve had a winning strategy using Venators as fleet carriers and support ships. I was a bit let down that these episodes werent really about the empire, and save for thrawn, continued to pump out petty villany. A galaxy spanning empire cannot simply pummel its subjects into submission and have the reach and influence it had. The "slow descent" into tyranny that was shown in Andor is missing, so that means the Empire has offer something people want. I found Barris' story pretty pathetic. She was so resolved that the Jedi had lost their way she framed her best friend; that thread couldve been pulled on much harder, but no shes gotta have a redemption arc.

While I politely disagree with some of your other points, I do think that if TOTE gets a proper season 2, I would like to see proper Imperials. Piett, Yularen, Needa, or Konstantine would make fascinating stories to unfold; how these men of the Old Republic transitioned into fascism.

@@AISNeymar Vader continued to be evil for 20+ years and only went evil in the first place for an entirely different reason than Barris. He never even second guessed himself until the ONE thing that could have redeemed him showed up. And even then it took a lot of convincing on Luke's part. His redemption felt earned. Bariss' betrayal of the Empire is just a less entertaining version of that tbh. It just would have been more interesting if she saw the Empire taking over as a good thing. We've seen the Imperial redemption arc like half a dozen times now.

Nah, Rebels was Filoni's magnus opus, that was the show he was heavily invested in the writing, and basically was his vision. Clone Wars was basically George Lucas, and later Filoni telling the show's writers to just do whatever they want.

Miyazaki's influence on Filoni is one of the things that makes him special, but it is also one of the problems for some fans. Miyazaki is not literal, he is not explicit, he likes to leave things open for the viewer to play and think about what is happening. Silences and pauses are as important as words and movement. And his stories sometimes do not develop in a linear way, but in circles. And this contrasts with American cinema, and much of European cinema. While Andor uses a two-minute monologue to develop the characters and shows each situation on screen. Filoni refers to an old friend of Barris, he does not give you the satisfaction of that reunion between Barris and Ahsoka, not even the certainty, because that emptiness, that longing, is what emphasizes the importance of forgiveness in the entire story, and the last chapter, the tension What fills that void generates is part of the narration of the story. Barris can find her way, her redemption, her second chance, because she is forgiven. In the same way that Vader can redeem himself thanks to the understanding and love of his son. Just like Morgan never found understanding or forgiveness for his mistakes. Circles and fill in gaps.

I had no expectations or was slightly pessimistic, however I thought this was a good run. I don't think it reaches highs of TOTJ, but the quality was better overall; there was a few TOTJ episodes I felt weren't the best. And yeah, I think Barris deserved a longer format and Morgan isn't my favorite character of all time, but I think what we got was good; Fourth Sister massacring a village, while Barris protects a child will remain with me for awhile. I just really wish they would get away from the 3 - 4 era with animation and branch out! Give us an animated show during the GCW, with appearances from Luke, Han, Leia, adult Omega, Rex, Ahsoka, Sabine, and Bo Katan; make a prequel show about Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Satine or a young Dooku show; heck, I would take a New Republic animated show between 6 and Mandalorian. Just move out of the same old stomping grounds.

I like the concept of Tales of the Empire and Tales of the Jedi, but I was very disappointed by the Barriss Offee ark. When we last saw her, she was turning to the dark side. And then after being imprisoned by the Jedi I'm supposed to believe that she abandoned the dark-side path she had already started going down? She wasn't a character that I wanted to see be redeemed. She had a great backstory to make an impressive villain, and they wasted it.
