If you run Icecrown and do cast blizzard on your core like you mention, does it double the damage by chance do you know?

Yup it does. It will be double blizzard on your core
I heard that mining isn't considered as battle, so the fury sticks after mining until the miner gets into real battle and leaves it. Was it changed? I don't have that talent, so I can't check it

It was a bug. you can see that in the video. It's fixed
