Talat Phlu Market 🇹🇭 Bangkok Hidden STREET FOOD Paradise
BANGKOK, THAILAND - Talat Phlu Market is one of the best street food markets in Bangkok. It is packed with delicious, authentic and cheap Thai street food. The best thing about it is that there aren't many tourists it is a genuine local food experience in Bangkok. Located on the Thonburi side of the river, the Talat Phlu market is the original Chinatown in Bangkok and is best visited late afternoon and into the evening.
I try gut chai (Chinese chive dumplings), bbq red pork rice, crispy rice salad with fermented pork and raw egg yolk ice cream.

It was in my to-do list for later this year, now you added couple of stops. I definitely have to go with an empty belly, but I have the doggy-bag ready, I don't eat all completely, I save some for later and eat more options. Done that in many places.

That coffee looks incredible, good description with the buttered toast. I keep trying to find good words to use for the immense flavor that comes in one of those... theyre ridiculously tasty. Thats amazing how quickly the translation options allow you to just order completely Thai thai dishes (as long as they make a nice orderly list like this, which is also great for their own advertising!). Nice work Joe!

and man, the Yam Naem is SUCH a quality dish, this is overlooked genius... Western world missing out with stuff like this.
@hungrytoexplore

Every time it gives me the buttered toast vibe. I must admit, they are pretty addictive, even though I prefer to drink black coffee to respect the quality, I find myself ordering these quite often. Yeah, I must admit, with my very basic Thai phrases... Google translate camera function has been so useful in provinces of the tourist trail. Although, I do try and order in Thai when I can even if I translate it first.

What day and time do they set up the street food. I think it's in the evening. What time do they close up at night. Also there's a wat down the street that has a night market do you know the days and hours. I think it's on the weekend however I don't remember.

Interesting. I was thinking, what oil do they fry that in, then you said it was pork fat or lard. The reason I thought about it is that there seems to be a lot of food cooked in oil and I wondered if they use a lot of seed oils like corn, sunflower, safflower etc which are really bad for you. They do however seem to be a staple of western diets.
@hungrytoexplore
Жыл бұрын
A lot of the time peanut oil is also used, which can cause issues for people with allergies as they don't really think about that. Lard makes things better though, let's be honest haha.
Hi! Is Talat Phlu the market to go if you are in Bkk for two days and You don't want the modern ones like Jodd Fairs? :)

If you want a proper local and authentic experience then I would say so. It’s not a touristy place but lots of great food. Wang Lang market is also a good local one closer to the river. Don’t expect music playing, nice places to chill etc. just great food and local atmosphere

Hey! You can walk up there from the bts in 5-10 mins, it’s an easy walk. Or simply take a grab bike from where you are and head straight there. It beats the traffic

@@hungrytoexplore Hey.... First of all so sorry for late reply... You are very kind so you replied me .. As I found that you are a nice KZreadr who living in Thailand.. Actually 26 times I have visited in Thailand but never ever stay one night in Bangkok... Because I have visited almost everywhere in Thailand.. More then 60 Provinces but there are 77 provinces . Mostly I explore the remote places in Thailand where most tourist not interested... I love to stay with locals so totally I stayed in Thailand more than two years but never in Bangkok.. because Bangkok is not a real picture of Thailand....I think I am only tourist in Thailand who never stayed in Bangkok..lol.... And about TALAT PHLU walking distance... you told me about 5-10 munits.. Also recommended me to grab bike.. You know what ? I never ever had experience to use taxis or rental motor bike in Thailand because of I am solo traveller also I afraid to use taxi in Thailand because of scamming.. So I never ever had any bad experience in whole Thailand and other reason always I carry cash 3000-4000$ as my backup money... 🤐 And not more then one thousand Thai Baht . Next month gonna explore Bangkok for first time and of course I go TALAT PHLU food market by walk from TALAT PHLU BTS station.. Thanks Artist and Worldwide Traveller M . S Khan

Haha yes, that’s okay for me. But because it’s fermented it has good bacteria which is okay. Although I guess you need to find good quality one. It’s one of my favourite Thai dishes too :)

I have never gotten sick from eating fermented pork salad, however, I got such a severe food poisoning from eating a Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich from a fast food chain here in the USA, several years ago. I was soooooo sick, my throwing up took away most of my energy that I couldn't even drive home from work. My co-worker had to drive me home in my car, and my brother dropped him off a few streets away. Luckily he lives in the same town as I. That was one food poisoning that I will remember for the rest of my life. 🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢🤮🥴
