Tal. I'm sad about the loss of your friend Jeff Beck. I remember seeing you play bass with him. You seemed smaller than that jazz bass. I was so inspired. I can assume you were smiling through your solo at the Beacon. It has been one small shining light watching Tal grow.

It is obvious Tal is a savant. Anyone who can go home and learn to read music in 2 weeks without formal training by themselves is a person born to do what she has done. All she did is travel halfway across the world and hang out with musicians in a foreign country and dazzle them with her talent. Most 16 year olds are thinking about going to prom. Her continued innocence carries on today as she grows into this very unaffected adult with experiences that are so unique. She is a one of a kind and how appropriate she ended up on bass with Jeff Beck. Even Jeff Beck, a savant himself had a wonderful respect for her uniqueness. Guess I am buying her CD :)

You have to ask yourself how a 16 year old Australian girl convinces her parents to let her move to New York to pursue a career in music without so much as a high school diploma. She is blindingly talented on every front, and her ability to somehow meet the most noted musicians in the world in such a short period of time speaks to her extraordinary talent, confidence and youthful optimism...not to mention beauty.

The third time I watched it was today, just right before getting interested enough to look up more from her and I'm surprised I haven't heard from her before. To sing and play bass at the same time is difficult. She sings and strum chords on the bass as if it was a guitar. That reminded me of Les Claypool. And it all comes out of her as if it's nothing to brag about in this interview. Thank you for bringing it up.

Great lass. Interesting in her mention of 'bass greats' - I never heard of any of them, probably because I only know of the folks who were more famous in bands. How about Paul McCartney, Sting, Jack Bruce, Noel Redding. Like me, Sting played in a three piece band he said he came to the conclusion that 'less is more' as a musician. I wonder how many reading that will understand it?

Great interview with Tal, but it is kind of appalling she had to school the interviewer about Anthony Jackson!!

Let's not forget another young Phenom ..... Jonny Lang ~ in 1997 voted ( at 16 ) BEST NEW GUITARIST with the release of hit single -- "LIE to ME" [ in three years -- from 13 to 16 ] he stayed in his room .... learned the licks of all the great blues players -- AND BINGO -->- at 16 , was 'great enough' to be B.B. Kings opening act ! KIDS ... HUH (?) GO FIGURE -lol- Tal is somewhat different. She's so "Down to Earth" .... because she's literally from another realm ~ a visitor to our fair planet from the world of beautiful Bass Players .... BASS-MUNDIA ( in the Taurus constellation amidst the Pleiades star cluster )🎸Fortunate are We 🎸 ☆Visitors to our Blue-🌏Jewel of a planet ...not-suprisingly.... usually start-off in -->- Australia☆ prime example AC-DC ✔ --L👽L--

Well, for the last 60 years Paul has been playing bass and singing at the same time. Not an entirely new thing, but it is a remarkable skill. You have to be born with it.
