Takumi, Initial D & My AE86 On Japanese TV | Juicebox Unboxed #86
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
What does my AE86, Initial D and Takumi have to do with each other? Back in 2006 the voice actor for Takumi, Shin-ichiro Miki showcased my AE86's engine bay on a Japanese TV show. They follow him around in his Initial D Trueno as he talked to like-minded enthusiasts about the chassis. These findings led me down a rabbit hole to try and map my Trueno's history.

"A car that I ripped out of a bush in Ireland was in a Japanese t.v show" Unreal!!

There's a REALLY good chance that more 86s were imported to Ireland from that lot during the Celtic Tiger, so I wonder if other people might find theirs there. Some serious detective work here by Neil and company! You wont see 86s regularly, but on really nice summer evenings, you'll sometimes see a few ripping around. There's a huge group here of them compared to so many other places. I was on the way through Ireland as a visitor in 2009 and couldn't believe my eyes at how many were out and about! I also found out the Rally of the Lakes was going on, so the car guys were out in force. I did have a chat with one guy at a petrol station and he said they run about 7,000 euro and I was shocked at how much it was worth here.. I had nearly bought one in the US in 2004 for $4k but to a starving student, it was WAY out of my price range and it seemed astronomical for an 80s car with 300,000 miles! Little did I know that was cheap! haha

Holy shit, that's some really interesting and unique story behind this car. Absolutely insane that you found and got exactly this 86 that was on that show presented by the Takumi's VA itself! And y'all trying to restore it. How did it even ended up like this, abandoned and in such weak condition? That's really sad, but also fascinating at the same time.

Given that this is a special (86th) episode, I thought I'd share my little story with this channel. So, a few years back (before the first vlog was uploaded) I was searching for different videos of street drifting in Ireland (in particular 86 drifting) and I came across this video called "The night life". It was uploaded 8 years ago (as of now) and it intrigued me. So i went into the channel and watched the other videos that was on there at the time. I noticed that there wasnt much uploaded and each upload was like months and years apart. Anyway, when I stumbled across this channel, the last time there was an upload was like a year or 2 before. But I subscribed anyway and whacked the bell on. A few weeks (or a month) later, the first vlog was uploaded. I just thought it was mental considering that there was not much activity on the channel, then this whole unboxed series began and iv been along with you guys ever since. I'm honoured to be subscribed to this channel before this series even began and its been such a fantastic thing so far. As much as it is hilarious craic, it's actually quite inspiring too. Thanks Neil, It would be cool to shake your hand some day. Stay safe lads. *David, Derry, Northern Ireland*

Yeah that's cool. You've definitely gotten yourself a pretty interesting 86. I'm sure I'll be on this ride till the end and beyond. "She'll be some yoke for diffin lad when she's done." - Neil Sheehan (strong Irish accent)

i love this history lesson of your car, its just amazing. also just wanna point out how much i appreciate the content you make because its not like all other youtube creators that stretch a topic out for a 20 minute video that could of been done in 3, this was fun to watch the whole way through. cheers from texas ^_^

Ya if some youtubers had that much to talk about it wouldve been an hour long video
Wow, thats a crazy story behind that car. I remember, when I watched the first episodes, the car just seemed like trash. In my mind it was like a shitty drift car, you wouldn't mind crashing in a wall. Now, hearing about all the history its almost painful thinking the way I thought back, watching the first episodes of the channel. Feels like you get to know a person more than just a few seconds to respect their value, or maybe the car just got the value thought that amazing background story. Anyway, I always get a little bit philosophical watching the vlogs, it's a super special mood which helps me escaping the stress of the day...so sorry for getting side tracked ^^ Super awesome video, I really like the style, it's made. Sadly I'm really behind the vlogs, because I got a lot of stress at work, but now I have a lot of content to whatch. Great video as always, I hope you keep up with the car and the videos. Thanks for making the vlog. :D

Kudos on that video Neil. Amazing to have found those bits and pieces of the cars history. Very cool to have. You'd make a good private investigator 😁
this literally gave me chills.. I always wanna dig up some history of the car I buy just because of this exact reason, like old analog pictures back in the when the car was in the glory days (gets kinda nerdy after a while but thats the fun of it tbh) would be amazing to find some previous owners of this beauty back when it was in japan :)
The documentary of your cars history is amazing. I love your sickness with this. What an amazing find with that video clip. Wish I could find old photos of my crap car.
Wow super rad to learn the history of your car. Makes me really wanna learn how my FC got to how it is today.
This is bananas man. Really glad you dug this stuff up, super interesting seeing the history of such an iconic car! even if its a bit spotty. Keep up the good work mate, can't wait to see this thing done.

Excellent episode, my favourite one so far! Insane that not only has your car had an interesting life, but that you were able to track it all down with the help of some other passionate people
I wish your channel would blow up. I luv watching your guys stuff.
I LOVE how much effort you put into this. Very relatable. Finding a single clue like that and trying to follow the trail through the weird, mostly neglected place that is the Japanese internet.
I felt the same way when I found old photos of my car online too. Good stuff

Some people have original windows stickers or can trace a car back through a family. Few people can trace the absolutely wild history of their car around the world. Thanks for taking us on this journey. This little machine is lucky to have someone willing to dig for that kind of history just to know where it came from.
