The most underrated part of this is that you do what you can without pushing yourself too hard. Bit by bit your body will adjust and then it will ask for more. Too many people try too hard to fast. Just take your time. Especially if you have never exercised before. Remember, she lost about 30lbs in five years. So it was a gradual process and she just kept at it. So for anyone reading this, easy does it. It's not a race and you'll get there.

Genetics play a key role in that, a big hand full of Japanese people live very long and have great skin genetics. The other key factors is diet, nutrient intake, and fitness, which she clearly perfected.

Amazing what you can achieve by just following the standard advice of eating your fruits, veggies and lean protein, moving your body and lifting weight and keeping a positive attitude. It seems so simple and we've heard it so long we just ignore it and look for a quick fix to aging, but this is surely the way to go.

How is it ok with our body to force only 4 hours of sleep and yet put it through the grueling excercise afterwards? Am I missing something? Also, look at her hair, its still good and holding up. Generic advice is wrong, true restoring sleep that your body needs is first 4 hours of deep sleep. But most people drink caffeine, are not healthy, magnesium deficient, etc, that's why their first 4 hours don't work for them and need to catch up with additional hours, even though later phases are only giving a little amount of deep sleep and more rem sleep that only tires you up. Also if you have psychological problems for sure your sleep quality deteriorates and you feel like you need to sleep more, but instead get tired from all of the shallow phase sleep. It's not really healthy to spend time in rem sleep. tldr sometimes less is more

But, as an American teaching in Japan, I heard from teens that they were told that if they were sleeping 8 hours a night, they weren’t working hard enough. (They were studying for college entrance exams.) Hope this kind of mindset isn’t what she’s promoting.

I appreciate her but i have seen women too much caring about self . Old women in Indian villages such as my grand mother had similar fitness but their stories are not published because they never cared about flat abs. My grandmother raised 8 children and then spend lot of time with 24 grandchildren. She never had time and never did exercise. But she was fit till age of 86. Now since Japan is facing population crisis they should also promote women like my grand mother who never thought about themselves instead dedicated life to family.
