Thanks for this! My father in law gave me his 05 F150 that got rear ended. The bed and bumper are toast but everything else is in good condition. The frame is mostly unscathed. I’m going to put on a new bed and bumper and use it as a work truck. This video helped me get my brain wrapped around it.

Sounds easy enough to disconnect gas neck line, vacuum line, rear electrical plug in, bumper and six bolts . I'm taking mine off to replace some rusted support rails and install a new fuel pump, once the weather gets above 60. I will be filming the entire process. Thanks for the heads up.

Heads up, if you have a super crew cab, DON'T take the bed off to get to the fuel pump. You can touch the top of the pump unscrew it but it will never come out.

Removing the bumper a must? Or can I get by leaving it on? Replacing fuel pump.
@okcvet1st
10 ай бұрын
If I remember correctly, it'll be pretty hard to remove the bed without scraping it up, leaving the bumper on. The fuel tank can be lowered to replace the pump. I've had many tank strap bolts strip out from being rusty. I've had to cut many to get them out and replace them with new bolts. I prefer to lower the tank instead of removing the bed for a fuel pump replacement. Hope I helped!

For anybody else wondering......this is a SuperCab truck. Pump placement is always the same regardless of cab size and bed length......cab options are (from shortest to longest): Standard cab with no space behind the seat

Did you ever go ahead with your box swap? I have an 09 F150, and came across a rust free 05 bed. I'm wondering if there are major differences or obstacles? I already know I'd have to buy 05 taillights since my 09 style won't fit. Will my 09 tailgate work on the 05 box?

What size Torx plus t55?????
@okcvet1st
5 жыл бұрын
As I stated in the video this bed required the TP50(tp meaning Torx Plus). The T55 is too big. The T50 often shears off. The part number for the single piece is 81090 from Lisle but will most likely have to buy the set: Lisle 81000 Torx Plus Bit Set, 9pc, available at Oreillys for about $40, or Summit Racing for $26.99. Not all beds require this size but the plus bit set is very nice to have. Hope I helped you. Thanks for watching!

Oh, and just to let you know, most part store employees seem to not know about the TP torq bits even though some stores have them on the shelf. Just give them the part number so they can see it in the computer.
