He was singing in Breaking Pangaea before he was asked to join TBS as a touring member but that didn't go as planned as he ended up becoming a full on bandmember. He did other projects after TBS and is currently active as The Color Fred.
Fred is one of the most underrated and talented musicians out there. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves.
Fred is a legend and took this band to their highest level
Whose idea was it to hide Eddie in the corner? The man is the backbone of the band, he deserves more credit!

@@12bakd75 Here's a great explanaiton from Fred in an interview Ultimate-Guitar: Some of the tracks that appear on Bend To Break were originally brought to Taking Back Sunday for inclusion on Louder Now? Fred Mascherino: Yes a few of the songs were ones I had brought to Taking Back Sunday and they for one reason or another, thought wouldn't fit the album. And one of those songs was If I Surrender. They were saying that it was too much of a pop song but I thought it would have been great. Everything I wrote, I'd always let the band hear and if they weren't into it I'd say, 'well that will go to my next project'. Ultimate-Guitar:Do you think having your own material consistently being knocked back by the band fuelled the impetus for you to finally leave? Fred: It was one of the factors. I will try and clarify it. I didn't leave the band simply to do this. I left the band because I felt it had hit the end of the road. We were trying to write our fourth record and the excitement that I had writing the last two, just wasn't there for me. And it really showed because when we were writing Louder Now, we had got together and in the first week we came out with four of the songs. But when we were writing for the new record, we couldn't finish one song and we had been at it for months.

Fred is everything for TBS
Their live music is awesome, I dont care what anyone says, TBS is freakin epic!!
This is one of my favorite bands, but I need to point out that this performance was pitch corrected. Fast forward to 3:45 when Fred is screaming "i've got it bad". The weird pitch glitch you hear is because the pitch correction wasn't getting a pitch since he was screaming so it did not know where to place his voice. The more you know..

I'm pretty sure it's just his voice cracking or whatever it does when you scream. Remember that Fred never learned how to scream with the correct technique that doesn't shred up your voice. He said in one if his recent videos his voice still shreds up when he tries to scream nowadays.
@KendallSwan
2 жыл бұрын
@@raymon8044 He may be screaming with less than perfect technique, but that's definitely the result of poor pitch correction from whoever mixed it. The intervals are mechanically perfect and don't sound human at all.
2021 and still the band's best line up for me. Like if you agree.
You people do know that when you go see a band live it won't be perfect... you all going on about auto tune and how their vocals sound and shit, if you wanna hear perfection stay at home and listen to their CD and don't see them live. when you see a band live it's about the rawness of the music, to see them actually playing the songs and to see their emotion and to just have fun. Adams vocals aren't the best but everyone knows his voice and knows its taking back sunday when you hear his vocals, he puts a lot of emotion into it when he plays live and to be honest I like it when he sings out of tune here and there because it shows that he is not perfect but can still connect with millions of people. No one gives a fuck and is just letting loose anyway, its all about vibes man.

damn I miss the old TBS...They are way better here than they are now
Yeah!!!
Lookin at Adams vocals from the 2000s up to me seeing him 3 weeks ago at PNC..he is definitely a studio vocalist who requires multiple sessions to get the sound right..live, his vocals are never anything close to the album sound.. Love these guys, had a blast, but do not ever expect adam to have vocals thatll carry the show.

Definitely not a 10/10 hit with these crazy demanding songs. I remember hearing the pitch correct on their live acoustic album from years ago and realized they use a lot of processing for these recorded gigs.
Adam's vocal is unique 💯 and it's so fine and makes him hot as always! 🙈
Fred brought out the best in all of them but that's also why they separated from Fred I think he got under their skin because he wanted to practice and focus on the music and they wanted to mess around I think the quote was they care more about cooking then practicing and making music or something like that
This is their best live performance. Adam is top flight here.
For this tbs era who is the song writer hes fuckn so damn cool!..kudos to him!his idea is freakin awesome
Fred isn't auto tuned at 3:44. He's pitch correcting himself on the scream cause he couldn't hear himself for a sec. It happens a lot in live performances.

It seems to me that his vocals are being run through a compressor. When you scream all sorts of funky cracks and whistles happen. They might be quiet, but compress the vocals and you can hear the cracks. I could be totally wrong tho. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't get much better than Fred on vocals.
This is still so much better than the already really good album version

That's what he was saying. The guy before him asked if he was the only one who thought TBS was best with Fred and the guy said he agreed wholeheartedly. I'm on the fence though, I do like some John Nolan.
the autotune during the screams: what is my life
fred breaks pitch correction, seriously.
there is auto tune, but obviously not alot, just enough to help them stay on pitch. but at the end as u can see it does work with screams cuz screams arent an exact pitch and ur able to hear the auto tune trying to correct the pitch of the scream more. btw tbs didnt decide to auto tune them selfs, its the guys at aol sessions who edited the song.
@KristianEgs Half agree
I love the effect the pitch correction gives to the vocals.

Fred TBS is the only TBS
Who is doing back up vocals? I forgot his name and since I dont know what year this was recorded I cant figure it out
Camera said "Whoa!" 1:38
who's to say you'll have to go?
they keeped it mainly simple with fred with power cords but if he would of had more rifts this band would have dented rock emo
a decade under influenece of the drugs !!
What year is this performance from?
wow.looks like he finally learned how to sing
actually it's 2006 when louder now came out. fred left in 2007 so this couldn't be in 2008 anyways
They always play so much faster live. No wonder the vocals suffer. Great performance tho
Really never thought I'd look back at this band and say wow 20 something years has gone by. Hell I never thought I'd make 30
The reason Adam and Fred sound a little better than usual is because I can imagine it's easier to hear your self sing in a setting like this as opposed to a venue with loud people and shitty monitors
3:44 can clearly tell that its autotuned. there is no way that sound is produced without it.

fowgelbrother dude that scream was nothing but a bad scream. If you listen to bands like i set my friends on fire that use autotune live you’ll know that it does nothing to your voice when you scream. That was just a voice crack it happens all the time to me in the studio and I wonder how I produced a sound like that
@gp11g08 i think if it was that brutal theyd catch it haha i think thats just his voice. there's definitely pitch correction throughout though
auto-tune on the final scream? lol
Seems like everyone else agrees, but Fred is the shit!
Probably plugged straight into the board to record it.
I hate to be that guy who corrects everyone, but this had to have been either late '06 or early '07. Fred was gone and Fazzi had just joined by 2008. I think this performance was brought up in the AP piece about Taking Back Sunday, as Fred mentioned in his interview that this was done during a period of time where Adam wasn't drinking or smoking. He spoke very highly of the Australian tour they did around this time, and how great Adam was.
@KaineCloaked Maaan i don't wanna get into an internet argument haha. I do a lot of work in studios and have done for about 7 years, recorded dozens of songs, and i have even had to use it on my own vocals. Sound like its been melodyned. I'd put money on it man!
Fred Mascherino
2006.
2008, I guess
05 or 06
It doesn't sound like they're using pitch correction because there are slightly flat notes everywhere in these sessions. I think it's just a good performance from Adam for once.
When screaming the voice is very unpredictable. That's not auto tune. If you auto tune a scream it sounds way more jumpy. That sound is just him trying to find a pitch while screaming which is very hard to do
