I have Gate and is excellent. Always thought that an expansion would be really welcomed and here it is with extras for Tin helm! Very generous from his part. Just hope some publisher would bring Glover's works to Europe... Looking forward for the interview, too. And in the meantime, he has a YT were he talks about game development and it's worth to check. Cheers!

I love Gate and Tin Helm. I can’t wait for his new big game! The art in that looks incredible! I’m yet to get gates but when I find a few other Gamecrafter things to combine shipping I will get that! I also really like the look of Desolate! He’s definitely a big inspiration.

Just got both delivered from the crowd sale, and played my first game straight away. I’m glad I waited until Gates came out because I can definitely see needing the extra variety to ensure longevity of the experience

This looks so good. The small size would really fit well in the Tiny Epic series. Would be great if a bigger publisher could pick this up and expand Glover's prospective audience.

I was in on the crowdfund for this one, despite the shipping to the UK making it quite a pricey prospect. I've been watching the shipping progress to an almost obsessive level (my girlfriend is definitely sick of me giving her daily updates of where the games area!) and it looks like it'll be with me very soon! Super excited! I'm also excited for Jason's next game - Underquest - which I guess will also be on Gamecrafter and which I'll also be backing, more or less regardless of cost 🙃

My copy arrived this week in Germany. I am quite curious how my first play will be as I am a big fan of Game Crafter games :-D

really love his games - I just wish the neoprene mat had labels of which cards to put in which spaces.

Nice review and demo. Could you use the Gates game mat with the first Gate game?

It looks like it would be clearer if heroes with a value of 0 in a particular stat didn't have the icon.

I'd really like to see you do a video about Castles of Dawstone from Game Crafter. It's a pretty cool game with some interesting concepts, though pretty flawed. So far, I am the only one to make any posts on bgg for it. The manual had some problems, but the designer chimed in for me. I believe it's worth looking at. Kinda like Gate, in that it's about tower defense, with deck building and worker management. The dice rolling makes it feel a little bit like Yggdrasil. Definitely better as a solo game than two player though. I wish I had wrote down my thoughts about two player soon after the first time I tried it that way, because I had quite a few suggestions and questions. There were definitely some elements that made it drag on as a two player game. Plus, I think the use of sliders for keeping track of things on the cardstock player mats was un-needed, considering that the neoprene mats came with cubes. This was a good overview. Just got my copy of the expansion, but haven't tried it yet. Really looking forward to the Jason Glover interview. About to be a Patreon.

Interesting compact game. I highly recommend checking out Dungeon Runner card game. It has solo, adventure, and replay-ability written all over it!

I really like the idea, I want to figure out is if there is an RPG option where player progression would be possible. A coop mode would also be fun.

… and if you have not yet purchased Tin Helm and you’re going to be purchasing Gate, Gates, and Tin Helm, just keep adding the rest of the GameCrafter store to your cart. 🤣 I’m intrigued by this. Was already added to ye olde wishlist along with Iron Helm. I may need to try my hand at the Print and Play option so I can play more of these without overspending. I’m not knocking GameCrafter’s prices, it’s just the reality of 8 packs of cards at $7.99 ea plus shipping adds up quickly.

PNP for gate or gates?

CARAVAN QUESTION: It says to discard the recruits...does that mean they go into the discard pile, or they're removed from the game? Or maybe they just go back into the deck? No clue. Verbiage is a little unclear...

Not sure. Always best to ask rules questions at BGG, or the designer's FB page. Jason is very active on FB. I am not a rules guy.

You went so fast through all the cards that you could not see the names of the cards. In fact most the cards you just basically shuffled and glossed over. What kind of "review" is that if you're not going to detail the cards AND the rules? In order to make an informed decision of whether or not to buy the game I'd like to see what actually comes with the game AND the details of the cards AND the rules. 0/10. Not even down voting this because that affects the algorithm. You don't deserve any boost on the algorithm at all for that shoddy speed run.

It's a small version of the game, but also a slightly different game. That is to say, it's not just Iron Helm shrunk to a smaller size.

Hi I just got my new copy of Gates and it's just amazing, but what does this card ability is: "YOU MAY THRASH THIS CARD IF IN DISCARD" somebody could help me please, I'm from another country and the text translation doesn't give me any clue how it works or what to do exactly?
