Taking a Break!

Спорт

In this video I play a round of disc golf at Bayou Bandit, and explain why I need to take a short break from content creation. My disc golf hobby has a lot of parts. Playing disc golf. Form work. Practice. Content creation. Watching content. Forum/Discord reading. I knew at the beginning of this year it would be rough dividing my time between these things, but I've reached a point where I have to scale back.
If you liked this video, please give it a Like. And please Subscribe if you haven't already. We drop new videos every week! From disc golf rounds and challenges, to reviews of disc golf products, we strive to bring consistent and interesting content within this sports genre, covering locations and items differently.

Holy hell man, never knew you were still working and doing all this. The fact that you made it this far is a feat within the sport that you’ll eventually get your flowers for. We should just make Sean start editing the videos!

All great content creators need a break now and again. Just like @DondoDiscGolf said, rest, recharge, then come back we will still be here! Its important that something that should be fun and relaxing to you does not turn into a job. Love your content and your outlook on the sport. I only have been doing Disc Golf for a year and a half, but this is one amazing open arm community!

Well, are you free this Sunday, and do you have a Glitch? I'm thinking a Glitch only round on a short course that day. Sean might be available.

Yeah I'll still be playing disc golf but the content creation side can be exhausting. I'm enjoying the break so far. 😁

Love your videos Nick! Me and my brothers tried to golf at Bayou Bandit this weekend but we couldn't figure out where to park or where it started, can you give us any info on that end? Enjoy your break you deserve it!

Yeah you can park along the street basically anywhere. If you go to UDisc, look at the course map, the streets alongside holes 1 and 5 is basically where everyone parks. Best spots are right alongside hole 5. The maps program you use to get there will take you right there. It's the last street in the map. 🙂

Nick, I have been watching your videos for a long time and realize that I’m not subscribed, that was a very easy fix for me😊 I totally understand but if I can give you a little advice, don’t stop filming, I never film any Disc Golf rounds and last year I got my first ace and a few months later,I got my second ace and the only thing I can think is, I didn’t film it. I am 62 years old and picked up the game about 10 years ago. I cannot throw very far, never have been able to. I can throw about 260 maybe 270 feet, every once in a while 300 feet, but my game is all about approach shots and putting, and I have come in second place in a tournament and actually won a tournament in the MA60. I know there is something that I am doing or not doing to be able to throw over 300 feet consistently, but the quest is still there, just to find that certain something that puts us over the top😎 And if you keep filming, once you get yourself back on track, you can always go back and edit the video and commentate over the video , I think that would be very cool😎 Good luck and keep slinging them Disc 👍

Thank you so much! Yeah I'll definitely keep filming. I will focus on having more fun and enjoying the game more. Sometimes I get so caught up in everything else, but that's not why I started playing in the first place. 🙂

Been with you since disc golf day 1. You don't need to get better to make better content. If you aren't improving with how often you play maybe just accept it and bring some of the fun back.

Yeah, definitely. I stopped practicing on new things, or getting better with things I can improve, like putting and forehand, or even rollers. I want to have more fun, and I'll adjust my content going forward. Probably something like 1 round a week (2x 9 holes or 1x18 holes) and maybe something like a product review or comparison, or some challenges. Want to make things more fun for the channel, too. Thank you for your continued support! 😁

I’ve also noticed that because when I have fun, I don’t even remember the terrible holes and I even play looser even when I’m not so focused about the score. I can also say from my limited time playing disc golf. I’ve noticed the same thing myself as well as friends that started with me that you have a huge jump in progress early on that becomes almost minimal later. Yes form can improve things, but a lot of form for even the pros, It’s just to build consistency. Everyone has their cap and health they can throw their arm. I have a couple friends who can throw 450 + but they will disk way down compared to me and throw much lighter instead of trying to bomb every hole not only save their arm, but to be in a better position not always do we need to throw max distance. This does actually lead me into something I saw from ball golf which I played for nearly 2 decades and got sick of as players got better popularity got more they started making courses to design not only the difficulty but the length of the pros and although it’s nice to try to see what they play on every once in a while, we’re recreational players who want to have fun. sometimes the course takes all the fun out of it when it has ridiculously long holes that are so difficult that even pros would have a bogey on… I just hope that people don’t qualify good as only by what the pros do because the pros make up a super small percentage at top instead, and even they have tournaments they do horrendous on and don’t make the cut as well as have more and more in injuries as these courses keep getting longer. we need to enjoy and be glad that there’s still plenty of courses out there that are parks with 200 to 300 feet for holes. Younger people might sit back and say this is too short, but give it a couple decades and they will be glad that course exist as well.

@@fishblade2 Thank you! I will be turning my focus to forehand and putting, because I've stagnated with both, and I think I can make some real strides there. Often I'm too focused on form, and that's detracted from everything else. So I'll be focusing more on fun, going forward. 😁

Dude just stop filming, there is no reason to make this video. No one would care if you didn’t post for a month or two or hell even a year. It’s apparent you film casual rounds with you and friends. If that’s not enjoyable then stop. But it’s weird that people think they need to make a video and drag out this like you and or your content is necessary. KZread has a weird way of making people think they need to do things when they don’t. Enjoy your life don’t let this mess with you. Hope your time away is beneficial.

I appreciate your concern, but a) a fair number of people in my audience do actually care, b) it's my channel and c) I I wanted to play that round and film it. It's not a matter of enjoyment, it's a matter of time management. So I took a 2 week break and I'll make 1-2 weekly videos going forward. Thank you for your comment, and have a great day!
