Take that! Matthew Hayden advancing at pace bowlers
Спорт
Two steps and BANG! Is there a better sight than the big burly Queenslander opening batsman Matthew Hayden walking down the wicket to smack a fast bowler back over his head or square or of the wicket for a four or six? (Answer: No)

Haydos warranted his place in this Aussie side not only due to his ability to perform but also due to his in your face approach. He was like a giant bully who wanted to kill a bowler. Almost all cricketers who picked their all time 11 had him as their opener.

Hayden advancing and hitting right above the bowler was a real treat. Still remember him hitting the world no. 1 bowler at that time, Shaun Pollock above his head in the 2007 WC.
I spent 7 years (1993-2000) telling anyone who'd listen that Hayden should be opening for Australia ahead of Slater and then Elliot and all I got was "he's not good enough", "he'll never make it". What a legend he was. I'll never forget that banner at the GABBA in 1996 that said "The only thing bigger than Haydens average, is Taylors bum".

I was lucky enough to be at the Gabba for the Aus vs NZ Test in 2001. Half the match was washed out, but in the first innings I was witness to Hayden and Langer's first 200-run opening partnership (IIRC), and then on the last day when Waugh and Fleming decided to try and get a result out of a match that was otherwise destined for a draw, Waugh sent Hayden and Gilchrist in to bat. Two overs later, they had about 30 on the board.

Matthew Hayden walking down the wicket to the quick bowlers was one of the more intimidating sights in cricket. He taught fast-bowling bullies to be afraid. It was a privilege to watch him bat. The disdain that he appeared to have for the fast bowlers was extraordinary.

Alternative title for this video - Hayden slaughter Bowlers!
Haydos has got to be one of the best batsmen of his era (with the exception of Ricky Ponting!) He was so good at advancing the pace bowlers, no wonder he scored 380!
When he played against India Indian bowler thought why I selected for this match what a wonderful batsman
Top 5 opening batsmen of all time and part of an opening partnership with Langer that will be remembered for a long time.
Great vid. We need a forever recording of this guy so we never forget how awesome he was. Its a stunning technique. Just a gentle two step stroll down the wicket and brutal and effortless power. Pure Class. He will always be one of the most studied and copied left hand openers in Test history. Magnificent to watch.
Hayden playing these sorts of shots is a big part of what got me into cricket as a kid.
A true monster of the game. Brilliant technique and effortless power when he chose. 3:33 slow motion replay....awesome. Didnt get to play much T20 cricket until he was close to retirement and on the decline, but we can imagine what he would have done when in his prime. One of the true great test openers of all time...this is one of the guys you definitely want for an unlikely last day run chase. Class and Power.

Hayden left a big impression on fans like myself because of this particular movement down the pitch! Courageous, aggressive batting at it's finest!
Hayden a true Legend never forgotten:) Breathtaking opener💥
This shot had a different fan base 🤩🤩🔥
He was the velvet sledgehammer of that team. The slo-mo vision of that shot at 3:27 in Adelaide is classical Hayden. Awesome. It just screams " i'm in charge out here " That unique signature stroll down the wicket still has kids around the world trying to copy it.
