In today's guitar lesson I'm going to be showing you how to play Take Five chords on guitar. I'll guide you chord by chord, slow and easy. You'll learn the basic jazz chords, that make this song so great, without sounding bland.
You'll learn the famous Take Five Intro and rhythm pattern, as well as all the fantastic Take 5 dave brubeck chords on guitar.
I've made the Take five guitar tab, that includes standard music notation and the chord boxes. I've tried to keep this an easy lesson. The chord boxes above the pdf tab will help you reading and understand the song better.
I've also made a Take Five backing track. It's acutally two backing tracks, one fast one slow. You can use this to play along for practicing or performing live.
If you want to know more about the Take Five chords guitar, you may want to check out my basic jazz chords guitar lesson here on my KZread channel.
I hope you like thjis Take 5 guitar lesson, including backing tracks / play along, Take five tab pdf and this video tutorial. Please give it a fat thumbs up, share the love and the knowledge and subscribe my channel for many more jazz guitar chord lessons.

Danke Sandra!!! Unser Gitarrenlehrer war hin und weg, wie gut vorbereitet wir in den Unterricht kamen! Dank Deiner didaktisch tollen und gelassenen Art zu erklären! Greetings from Cologne Kurt
very well explained, I am grateful to you. Right now I'm in a nursing home and i will work before going to God. Thank you for all this knowledge sharing. God takes care of you
Lovely. Thanks a lot for demystifying this jazz classic for me.
Thank you for your clear and patient lessons. I have been a blues/folk/whatever I could learn player for a number of years. While I have always enjoyed listening to jazz I always felt that it was beyond my reach as a player. You demystify it in such an accessible way. No condescension and always leaving room for someone to learn the, for lack of a better term, better way to play it. I enjoyed your lesson on song for my father and this song has been one of my favorites for quite awhile. All the best to you. Keep it up!

Thank you so much for sharing your guitar wisdom 🙏🏻
I always liked Take 5... cool rhythmically, in how the chords “share” the 5 count. And, what a melody😉. I remember learning it from George Benson’s CTI recording of it, way back. As usual, your analysis as you went through the lesson provides great insights (wish I had that back then!). Missed “lunch,” but had a great Moto ride👍😉. Be well!

What a neat way to play an Eb-7. That position keeps the tone "consistant" with the other tones. Some people will play a chord at say the third fret, and then instead of playing the next chord in the tune at the fourth or fifth fret they will jump up to the eighth or ninth fret, which breaks the consistancy of the tune. I see that with some players who will play a CM7 chord at the 3rd, 4th, and 5th fret, and then jump up to the eighth and ninth fret to play a C#dim. Their logic is the first string on the ninth fret is a C#, so that is where the diminish is to be played. And try as you may, you can't convince them that a C#dim can also be played at the 3rd, 4th, and 5th fret, by just raising the bass note. I think it's a pride thing. The idea that, "I play the right chord, so why do I have to change it because someone thinks their chord is better"? So glad there are people like you on the net who lead us "constantly learning" swing guitar players down the correct path with rewards at the end. Keep up the good work and thanks.

@@GuitarversumSandraSherman Thank you very much for your wishes. My area (Valencia) is one of the least affected and has more "trackers" hired in Spain, but economically it is a disaster that was not known since our Civil War, no tourism, no cars sold, few people go to restaurants ... I love this lesson - 'Take Five' is what got me into jazz all those years ago - and I've put off learning it until today... which is probably the biggest mistake of my life! However - having spent a lot of my time playing blues and messing with the pentatonic scales... what you refer to as the 'beginner' shapes fall more naturaly for my fingers. I'll continue to work on my 'jazz' shapes... but just being able to finally play it in any form is a small miracle! No guesses as to what the rest of my weekend looks like!
@GuitarversumSandraSherman
Жыл бұрын
It's all just a matter of practice. The Pentatonic was difficult in the beginning too. At least to make it sound bluesy, want it? Now it's ready, bc for years you didn't play anything else. Now it's time to add to that. But I have improv tutorials on how to make the Pentatonic sound jazzier and how to generally use it in jazz. Type "Pentatonic Guitarversum" in the YT search box to find those tutorials (for major and minor chords)
Thanks Sandra. I have just started learning Jazz after 40 years of playing guitar. Best wishes Paul
