    Soooo 60’s. Glad you think Falcons are cool!! I love seeing your reactions to some of the quirks that were common back then (ash tray, passenger mirror, crank windows). I had a ‘67 Mercury 4-door Comet years ago which had many of the same features. It’s amazing to see how mach cars have changed over the years. Thanks for posting

    NICE Pic . My first car was a 1967 Ford Falcon . I some what restored it before I became a mechanic . Bought it in 1982 sold in 1984 loved the wing windows.

    I am enjoying your videos, even though KZread didn't give them to me in order. I like your enthusiasm. My first car was a 63 Falcon Futura convertible. In the summer after I graduated high school my friend and I rebuilt the engine. My second car was a 68 Falcon. You may have already done this, but you can get key blanks that match the originals and you can have them made into an extra set of keys. I always carried an extra trunk and house key in my wallet. And I hid an extra ignition key in the trunk. I did this in case I accidentally locked my keys in the trunk so I could retrieve them. It never happened. The extra ignition key hidden in the trunk was in case I left my keys in the ignition switch and locked the door I could get the extra key out of the trunk to unlock the doors with. My system worked well for me because being a guy I always kept my wallet in my pocket. Doesn't quite work as well for a lady that could lock her purse in the car. Good luck and enjoy your Falcon.

    Her enthusiasm and appreciation for the details is infectious. I love watching her gush about the vent wings - that, too, was a favorite feature of mine from that era. Keep that six, darlin! Rebuild it if you have to, but keep it and keep up on the maintenance. If you take care of it, it will outlive all of us.

    Amazing video! Your enthusiasm in explaining things makes for a unique and exceptional storytelling style. On another note, your Falcon (Carl) was very lucky to find an owner who loves him so much. Success!!!

    I've got a 68 Falcon that I drive regularly when I can't ride my bicycle or walk. I'm the second owner, I picked it up in 1984. It's got over 130,000 miles on it, the engine has never been rebuilt and it still runs well. I've replaced some parts on it, the usual suspects, so it is a reliable runner. I think you'll have good luck with yours, too. Have fun.

    I know, right?! I thought it was amazing when I learned that side view mirrors were a dealer add-on. That some might not have them at all, like yours, and that some could even be installed in different places by the dealers. Some of the Falcon guys we've met said that some dealers would install them on the fenders instead of the doors.

    Actually, the driver's side exterior rear view mirror was (federally) required, and the passenger side mirror was typically an option on entry level cars like the Falcon in 1965. Some individual states may have required two exterior rear view mirrors however.

    Hey, enjoying your falcon story! I completely restored my grandfathers 61 falcon, I mean every single bolt!...with a little help from a lot of different people - especially a few in the falcon club. If there’s anything I can do to help with your restoration just let me know. Also, you can read my thread here: www.rainierfalcons.com/forums/showthread.php?2657-Saving-Granddad-s-Falcon/page41. You guys will for sure find that the most valuable part of your project is the time working together and all the great people you will meet. You are lucky to have each other- wishing you the best!

  • @dhbfastnp
    @dhbfastnp4 жыл бұрын

    Oh, first thing the club told me...Safety first! Does it have a single master cylinder for the brakes or a double? If single, you might consider the upgrade to double.

  • @ElliesGarage

    @ElliesGarage

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yes, definitely. We've been thinking safety too, so we are upgrading the brakes with a dual bowl master cylinder along with a power booster, and we're also going to be adding 3-point seat belts. Thanks for watching and for the encouragement!!

    @@ElliesGarage The dual master cylinder became standard issue starting with the '67 models. The '67 Falcon is slightly different but that master cylinder should bolt up and work. Don't forget to snag the prop valve from the donor car.

    @@ElliesGarage I've been slowly working through your older videos. I know this was a long time ago but one safety item to think of (if you haven't already) is a good fire extinguisher. If something were to happen it would feel terrible sitting there on the side of the road with no way to fight it. Fingers crossed it never happens but it's always good to plan for the worst.
