I've got a rover 60 paired with a rippin lips 8' heavy rod and it's my favorite combo for catfishing, awesome reels in my opinion, I've been looking at the piscifun chaos 60's as well they look legit and reasonably priced like the rovers

I love KK, but I am not convinced with these round reels yet. I have a box full of junk ones from the same manufacturer. Brand names aside these are from the same factory as Yangs. I'd never pay for one again unless I used it first, I've been burnt a few times over these. I know they are an improvement over years past, but that buyers remorse thing still stings lol. Great vid Kevin!! This is a great company, love the products and service, it's just this one reel, we have history 😉

  • @KastKing

hoptag nope there really is at a cast control knob. The knob moves the spool (closest to drag) and the knob you are referring to is a line memory dial. - if we understand correctly.

  • @KastKing

Hi Austin, it's normal, the drag knob is a tension knob for controling the tension of the spool.

I have a rover90 that I bought for sturgeon last year. I catch several hundred sturgeon every year so I put the reel through a hard test. Unfortunately it did not pass. Something’s wrong with the drag. The handle spins backwards as drag as being pulled out. And the retrieve feels rough. I’m working with Kastking to replace it. I sure hope the second one is better than the first or I’ll be done with Kastking

If you don't mess with one knob, why is it on there? Just an honest question. It looks like a power house of a reel.

  • @ThePigonSkates

The tension knob on the handle side is for centering the spool, the clicker side tension is for setting for spool tension/backlash control. When setting up the reel I will loosen the clicker side, then center the spool with the reel side, go back and set the clicker side tension. You're good to go.

I have to disagree with you about loosening the drag after each trip. Now, that used to work with felt and steel washer stack type drags, because they did not have the stiffness of carbon fiber disks, and would eventually make your steel washers slightly convex on the drag stack side of the reel. This results in decreased surface area contact in the drag stack, and thus, reduced drag power.. With carbon fiber disk drags, the disks are a lot stiffer. Which lets you put more pressure on them with drag star. This is why they have more drag power. But, like your reference to brakes on a car, they do still wear from friction when they rub against each other. This results in a loss of drag power, because as they wear, they get thinner. And therefore, not as rigid as they once were. It will make your drag feel smoother the more it wears, but the trade-off is that you do lose some power. Loosening your drag after each trip is unnecessary with carbon fiber drags because like I said before, the disks are stiffer, and the steel washers do not get "dished out" like the felt and steel stacks do. When I get a new reel, the first thing I do is take it apart and remove all of the factory grease and oil with a rag, Q-tip, and alcohol. Then I polish all contact areas. I then soak my drag disks in Quantum Hot Sauce overnight, and then reassemble, and lube the reel with the Quantum Hot Sauce. Soaking the disks in the oil overnight, greatly improves the smoothness of the drag when fighting fish, and also extends the life of your drag.
