Michel. You are the master of revealing parts hidden in a block of scrap metal. Fabulous work as always. Thank you for taking us along with you. It’s so very much appreciated. 👏👏👍😀

Totally agree with your comment, Andrew. Michel is the type of teacher we need, in our tech schools, to teach the younger folk in fitting & turning. Instead of buying NEW material, you go to the tip-shop and scrounge for the material with the hidden "Michel" parts inside.👍

@@rossgebert9422 I so agree. I now always look out for “scrap” metal as a source of that elusive part. Behind a rusty exterior a shinny new part is indeed hidden. No need to start with shinny new metal. 👍😀

Nice work! Great to see the new lathe getting at least a few chips made. I think you can get more than 1mm cuts done with a bit of practice and understanding which inserts work right for that sort of thing - although if it was chattering, maybe your headstock bearings need a bit of adjustment - it's hard to tell from the video.

You should see the mess i have now. My new to me 4 tool post for my Leblond needed a new compound lower clamp insert. Simple. I found a nice peice of steel, and cut it to fit, in the Index 40H. And it has virtually no play. So next step is to drill the center fixing bolt and 2 alignment pin holes. Guess what. the pins in the center body are NOT aligned with the flats in the tool body. Even the old lower clamp has the pins crooked. ???? What lurch did this? If i drill the holes straight the tool it is 5-6 degrees crooked, and with no play its not going to happen. SO i need to A. Drill the pin holes crooked in the new clamp. OR B. drill them straight, and then redrill the center body so that it ends up with a straight tool. If you read this, what would you do?
