I also like how this version of Tails is open to being hugged. People might not realize how significant this is, but in Sonic X, Tails did not like being hugged by humans. To be fair, there was a plot reason (and to be brutally honest, it was one of the more realistic scenes in all of Sonic X, in terms of how the general public would react to these characters suddenly appearing), but it is worth noting.

@@humantoonThe plot reason was because the first time the characters were taken to a public place in Sonic X, the people thought they were really cute and got very... grabby. In Tails' case, a lady slammed his head down on the counter and started to pet him really hard, almost on the level of something you'd see Elmyra do in 90s Tiny Toons. I think their butler guy (who is basically Alfred from Batman), managed to fight the crowd off and get them out of there. Eventually the public got used to them and stopped doing that, but it was definitely a culture shock. Pretty much exactly what would happen if these characters showed up in real life.

It doesn't help that the first few cartoons that he had a voice in actually made him female, it wasn't until games like sonic adventure that his gender was clear for those who play casually, although i personally think there would have been less confusion if some people actually ready the story of some manuals, although then again, they were never that trustworthy to begin with (cough cough mania calling amy sally), among other mistakes

@@spongefan6170 Silver's definitely not going to be in Sonic 3. If they're going to use him, I'd put him at the fourth or maybe fifth movie.

The big/little brother dynamic between those two is the best. I always love seeing Sonic being a good big bro, helping Tails believe in himself. This movie did a great job of starting Tails off with the hero worship but having his view on Sonic evolve as they adventure together. That eye roll he does when he says, "Only Sonic the Hedgehog needs rescuing this much." That was perfect. Taking the admiration phrase from the start and having him use it to joke about how Sonic isn't the perfect hero he thought. I also adored it in "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" when Noah's little brother wanted them to use the handles "Sonic" and "Tails" when talking over the radio.

Tails: *exists* Me: Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before.

It's mainly to show what Knuckles was doing that caused him to come out of the Ring Portal right after those humanoid guys did in the beginning of the second film. But the point is this means Chaotix exists in the movie universe.

The only two times I've ever seen Sonic get character development (like REAL character development that includes a change in behavior) are in SatAM (which could never be confused for this) and... Let me just check something with the director for a second... Ok, Jeff Fowler's the guy that directed the first two films. He did some CG work on Shadow the Hedgehog, and also was de-virginized to the Sonic franchise by watching Sonic X before that... He also has at one point expressed interest in having a major plotline centered around Tails later... Uh oh.

Nine is an amazing and interesting partner to have. Tails is a funny prey to play with. It's a shame Nine can only exist as long as reality remains broken. It would be so good to see those two meet. (I incline my head a bit for my hair's shadow to cover my eyes while twisting my mouth into a predatory/Joker like smile) I truly love the contrast between innocence and efficiency. Sometimes by watching both tear each other apart. Sometimes by watching both balancing each other out. This Kitsune and baby fox present a rather unpredictable duo, as I don't know if they work better as a team or as rivals. And just like Momobami Kirari, I sometimes love what's unpredictable in order to test myself. What do you think ?

A Kitsune is a Nine Tailed demon shaped like a fox, known in Japanese mythology for its cunning and intelligent nature, along with its seductive and manipulative tendencies, using those attributes and its shape shifting habilities to strengthen its reputation as a bringer of calamities and tragedy. For example, I heard this myth in which a Kitsune took the form of a beautiful woman and seduced an Emperor in order to isolate him from everyone else. It then proceeded to end his life, ensuring the end of his lineage, and consequentially a period of difficulties for the kingdom. Needless to say, Kurama/Nine Tails representation wasn't the most faithful, as it was pretty much a killing machine that lacked the manipulative traits, and therefore didn't do much to seduce Naruto into using him more often.

Well, Sonic Prime ended, and Sonic still remembers Nine. So technically, that means the alternate universes still exist.

@@EdenLovesDragonsForSomeReason That only worked because Sonic is the first person to ever call him that (give Boom Sonic credit, he at least let Tails hug him for a bit before saying anything). The humans had to almost get killed by the Death Egg Robot, and that was more of a passive hug. And in some other universes, you have to do even more to get a hug out of him. He does not hug people often, and it usually doesn't happen easily. His hugs are a big deal. If he's hugging you, you did something major.

You're not joking. Tails' backstory is like three Mother 3s. And if you don't believe me, here's some highlights from the Reader's Digest version. His parents died when he's about 5 when lightning hit his house and they gave their lives to save him, which is why he's afraid of lightning. He lived in an orphanage for at least a year, maybe two depending on the continuity, and the orphanage was run by two asswipes that made all the kids steal stuff. Tails (who was being bullied constantly) refused to do so and built things for the owners instead to appease them. The other kids eventually found out and bullied him harder out of jealousy of his intelligence. Then Tails and Sonic met. In most continuities, Sonic eventually shuts down the orphanage and looks after Tails from that point on. It's at that point he promises Tails that he won't let anything bad happen to him. The PROBLEM is that everything under the sun constantly tries to hurt Tails. Movie continuity will likely nix the orphanage, but I imagine his parents probably still met their end when Tails was young.

Jeff Fowler likely is well aware of how popular Tails is (pretty much being the most popular character in Sonic) and how protective the fanbase is of him, and probably intentionally got Colleen to voice him (also I think he might be good friends with her). But yeah, Tails is one of those characters you really have to be careful with. If you screw him up, people will riot.

He was a little more Sonic X than Sonic Boom, but yes. He was indeed adorable. But jeez, the Tornado didn't last long against Robotnik's 'stache.

I've been a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog for as long as I can remember, especially playing the games as a kid and being terrible at the LOL. I'm so happy that not only did Sonic 2: The Movie lived up to the hype its predecessor set up, but actively embraced the goofiness of the games, from Agent Stone pulling out an instruction manual for the Death Egg Robot that looks exactly like a SEGA video game manual from the old days, to keeping Super Sonic a secret, to even restoring Knuckles' personality from the somewhat funny "meathead" to the noble yet easily confused warrior.
