Tai Chi Lessons with Master Jian Liujun

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The programme opens with the essence of Tai Chi Chuan, explaining the fundamental principles of the discipline, including the Yi Ying, Yin and Yang, the Five Elements and the Eight Trigrammes. We then move on to exploring Spiral Movements and the Figure 8. Spiral movements form the basis of all Tai Chi Chuan movements, which is why the master, Jian Liujun, specifically concentrates on them. The Figure 8 is a short form, which is ideal for learning the essential Tai Chi techniques. It is also one of the forms used in Chen style Tai Chi competitions. Every exercise is fully explained and illustrated in detail in this film, making it an indispensable tool for learning this reflective Chinese art form. Each chapter includes tips on how to get the best out of this superb interact ve programme, while magnificent and tranquil shots of nature make the film even more enjoyable. Master Jian Liujun is a doctor of Chinese traditional medicine, a university professor of traditional chinese medicine at Guangzhou University, the ex-Vice President of the Guangzhou Shaolin Qi Gong Association and a disciple of the twelfth generation of Chen style Tai Chi Chuan. He is the founder of the Quimetao Institute and the Wushu Institute in France. His teaching ability stems from the many years of practicing Qi Gong, M.T.C and martial arts, during which time he has perfected and honed his technique. Master Jian Liujun represents the Centre of Chen style Tai Chi Chuan at Chenjiagou in China and is also Head of the European branch of the International Da Cheng Quan Association. -

Very lucid instruction and perfectly paced for someone like me who is not familiar with Chen Style movements. The Sifu as well as the one who helped create this video have done so with great love and devotion to the art of Tai Chi as well as to those who may be interested in learning it. Thank You!!

I have watched countless tai chi videos and have been a practitioner for over 20 years. What I see here is a true master sharing some essential concepts that are seldomly taught and often misunderstood by many, so called masters. The figure 8 concept is beatifully shown and these exercises really demonstate this. If you have bad knees you work within the framework of what is comfortable for you. You cannot expect to have this type of movement when you start practicing. Thank you sifu Liujun for sharing and my sifu Jesse Tsao sends his regards to you.

Very well made instructional video. Best for when you have 2 hours of downtime and want to participate in an active meditation. However, I would caution against the knee exercise at 1:05:05. I have tender knees so I have researched a lot about the physiology of knees. Knees are a hinge socket. The exercise at 1:04:30 is okay because the apparent knee movement is made from the ball and joint of the hip sockets. The knee exercise at 1:05:05 unnaturally rotates and weakens the hinged knee joint. Good Tai Chi should always be healthful for the body. I enjoyed the introduction to the basic exercises, the detailed explanations and the multiple angles and repetitions of the Chen 8 Form. Great for beginners.

Thanks. My own knees can be potentially a problem, I don't know, my mother's side of family has some mutation and the knees we have are not the ordinary sort and are not very good for running and anything that puts a great strain on the knees, though I'm trying to surpass the highest standards of military special forces anyways.

  • @sillymesilly

Knees do not weaken from rotation. Your knees are weak due artificially reduced range you placed on them.

If you have knee problems, you are likely obese. Wise men say: Eat less, move more. Modify all movements as your injured obese body instructs you to, cowman. Modified exercise is superior to no exercise. But i think the thousands of years of practice trumps your lifetime of “expertise” PS: Debate is healthy.
