Are there any objectives you follow when I comes to the breeding ewes? Since they are in natural habitat do you tag for identification as to who gave birth to who? Wish you all the best guys and success❤❤. You content is awesome all the time and the Playlist makes me 🪝 even more 😂❤

So happy to hear you enjoy our videos! Thank you! At this stage, we only tag ewe lambs, and each color designates the year they are born or if they're from a specific group of rams. We don't keep track of the ewes' lambing record, just because for us, it's not as beneficial in extensive farming compared to intensive farming systems. And for now, we keep all ewe lambs to grow our herd size, but we will definitely later start selecting for specific meatmaster traits😊

Hi I like your work, it's very inspirational to say the least. I'm just curious where do you get your supply of water? And how often do you water your Lucerne?

Hi! We use well water for our lucerne and it depends on the season, but in summer months we water every 2 weeks, depending on your soil. Young lucerne needs watering more often as their roots are not deep enough yet, so every week.

super work on the vids! i'm curious about your solar panel installation, especially with respect to eskom load shedding. how many KW of panels did you install? is it used only for the water pumps? are you able to use it to charge a battery "wall" for backup power? you showed a manual switch over between eskom and solar. i imagine battery wall backup would be more useful with an automatic switchover, especially with frequent grid outages. were your techs for the installation from sutherland or willston?

Thanks! The panels are 7.5 +KW, and they are set up only for the water pumps. The panels are also a distance from the house, which makes it difficult to utilize it for backup. Also, the Eskom power line is not very stable and, at times, doesn't even come back on after loadshedding. So we're definitely looking into setting up a system 🙂The installation was done by an electrician from williston
