I loved the video. You are a pleasant host. We see such monstrous equipment at the Indiana State Fair every year and always wonder how they operate. Thank you farmers for feeding us all on this planet!
So fun... Thanks for sharing... Refreshing... You two give me hope in this crazy world! Blessings on you both...
Thanks for explaining how this combine operates. Back in the 70s, I was 12 to 14 the first time they sent me out with the grain cart, nobody told me the combine didn't stop! I have a 14 yz450f. Ttrs are great bikes.
You guys are awesome together, showing life within nature, very down to Earth.
Working and having fun in same day together is priceless thanks for all you guys do
That's literally a perfect Sunday.
I find the Combine to be a miracle of engineering. They are probably one of the most complex and impressive 'classic' machine in existence. To take a bean on the plant and harvest it into a marketable product at such speed and volume is truly impressive.
@leelafarlett4401

I've always been baffled at how much money it takes to grow just 40 acres (the land , equipment , interest for bank loan, labor etc.) of beans for such a small profit. 4000 acres makes a lot of money, but my god seems like a better return would be anything but farming . But, it doesn't take much education , and you get a lot of time off in winter. Cotton brought about 75 cents 40 years ago, now its just around a buck. Where is the profit?
@ctdieselnut

@@leelafarlett4401 same with a lot of things. Firewood has been 200/cord plus delivery in my area of the northeast for 30 yrs. Price of gas and labor have at least doubled if not tripled. Farmers have it worse because they don't even set there own prices on a lot of stuff from what I understand. Original post: combines have always amazed me as well for the same reasons. They're unbelievable.

@@leelafarlett4401 truly baffled by your comment... Not a lot of education? A lot of time off in winter? Yea i dont think so buddy. Its not like farmers work 6 months and get 6 months off. This aint a job, this is a life style. 24/7 365 days a year. Where is the profit? Its non existant, or if any a very small amount. You make money, and all that money flushes straight out again. When i was a worker milking 200+ cows i asked my boss/the farmer. How much money does a farmer make? He answered: I'm a millionair once a month and i'm broke the remaining 30 days.
1. Thank you for feeding us. 2. Also it is so nice to meet all the "squares" I fly over when I go vacationing.
So, to add to the confusion about auger cart / grain wagon debacle, my Dad worked for a farm in Deleawre County Ohio for a couple years when I was a baby (so about 30 years ago) and they called theirs a "Bunny Wagon" because when it was empty, it would "hop" through the field and down the road.
I’ve driven across Nebraska many times during harvest time and always wanted to stop and see how all this works; this was the next best thing. Fun and informative.

The automation process sure beats the manual way my uncle and granddad used to farm. They were tobacco farmers. Their farm was located in South Central NC near the Sandhills of NC, I know things have changed tremendously since the 1960's and the 1970's. My mother was raised on that farm and she had 9 siblings. My aunt and uncle on my Dad's side were Cattle farmers and were milk producers. Also from NC. Lovely place. I have traveled to Chicago and Wisconsin but have not spent a lot of time in the Midwest.

Guys, great to see you working together. BTW a cart is a transportation vehicle with a central axle or axles. A wagon is a transportation vehicle with wheels at the corners, usually with one set steerable. It is a grain cart as opposed to a hay wagon.

You're used to it, so you deal with it. I would wither and die in an environment like that. I grew up in rural Alaska. No police and do whatever I want. You start riding motorcycles at an early age, and back then, there were no helmets. We had lots of old World War 2 roads to ride on and lots of old buildings to explore. As kids we would take rifles and go out shooting. We'd go fishing. No adult supervision needed and no helicopter parents. It's a totally different world from the Bay area.

Love it, you guys are a great couple, best two smiles on the whole internets mainly Laura's! We useto run Trimble on everything except the combines and peanut combines and dumpcarts, it was fun to actually drive sometimes.
Love your show. Grant with all the technology you have in that combine I can see you are staying as productive as can be so I'm going to give you a little advice when you make your split and can't get thru without dumping. Instead of cutting into your right so you can dump on the grain cart cut a path to your left for the grain Cart that way when you done unloading you can start harvesting right away instead of waiting on the graincart to get out of the way. Not saying what you do is wrong but will save you some time. Keep up the great work and God bless you and your farm 😊
Perfect Sunday combining and dirt bikes!👍👍🙂
