Rob, I own the white dial automatic in 41mm. It is absolutely fantastic. The differences are a magnified date window (which my 51 year old eyes enjoy), a horizontal striped, textured dial and of course the movement. I bought mine from an AD (too many fakes out there) for only $1,498.00. I'm certain the quartz could be purchased for way less. Mine keeps excellent time and the power reserve seems spot on at 36-38 hours. In my opinion, there are just too many Tag haters out there.

My first luxury watch was a Tag Heuer quartz diver, white dial, black bezel. I got when I was on one of my trips to Hong Kong back in 1995. I forget what size it was.. I think no larger than 37mm or 38mm. It was my only watch pretty much for 12 years straight. I am still sad I somehow somewhere lost the watch after I moved into a new home in 2007. I loved that watch and it survived so much abuse. Me falling off a high fence and getting hit by a car crossing the road.

I finally bought the 300m Seamaster Professional, but after much back and forth I went with the black face. I love the white too, but I felt the black was just more versatile. I bought the bracelet as well as the rubber strap. LOVE this watch. Almost mooched out and bought the new Bond watch in titanium, but it was like 8 grand. This is one of those watches that changes dynamics completely depending on what light it's in and the lume is just stupid good. I like that the pip is green as well as the minute hand, while the rest is blue.

I'm jealous. I have no white dial watches, and every time I think of getting one, I see something else!... One day hopefully!. I'd definitely be OCD about the second hand not hitting the marks. Hello everyone, I like this watch, I am thinking about it for a very long time, I want a nice quartz, grab and go watch that I can really use and make most out of it. My question is, knowing the value of the movement is the rest of $1500 worth it? I know you don’t buy just a movement but also the glass, the metal, the brand, the screw down crown, etc., but is this jump in price justifiable? For example I kinda understand the price of a grand seiko quartz with 9f movement which is revolutionary, but for a regular eta or ronda, is it really worth it? I am keeping my watches, but I don’t want to feel that I was ripped off, if I may, and that the time piece although gorgeous, is practically a $300 watch and $1000 brand on the dial...thank you for any input. Sorry for the length...

People underestimate the simple convinience of a Quartz movement and the luxury of not having to screw around with power reserve, accuracy or high follow-up costs. The thing is that with an off-the-shelf movement for 30 bucks instead of some magical in-house movement obscuring the costs people start asking what they are even paying a grand for. The issue isn't quartz, the issue is that the pricing of luxury watches just isn't based in reality at all.

Seems some just aren't seeing beyond a movement. It's usually a snobby move, and I think that applies here too. A watch is supposed to be hassle free, dependable, well built, and nice looking. You can get that from a $300 micro (usually) with a typical, done to death NH, or you can get it from this Tag. What's easier to maintain? Whats the better time teller? Why aren't those things seen as value just like all the piled on micro merits that are perceived to be?
