Which is why I believe Korea can dominate BL land if they take it seriously lol So far there have barely been any series produced (though it has picked up a bit the last year lol). The episode is as homophobic as it gets. I can appreciate a good gay joke, but this was really shameful. This is the kind of gay depictions I'd expect back in the 1950's. In other words, there really is no joke. It only relies on people finding homosexuality innately funny and/or gross. That's it. I couldn't watch anymore in good conscience after this episode. They called him weak, made him a coward and a criminal, Vincenzo was repulsed to the point of having PTSD at the mere thought of pretending to like another man, and in the end, all of the other guys (none of which are depicted a gay themselves) gang up on him and lock him in a room full of zombies to torture him. And we are supposed to be okay with it because he had a history of beating up his male dates. Where exactly is the joke? The build up and punchline? They're non-existent. It's just a bad gay guy being punished by everyone, and he doesn't even know why. Hardy har har har.....

I honestly like how Cha-young isn't even a fujoshi and yet she supported them so much, like she wasn't even jealous for 1 second but was instead just laughing at him along with Mr Nam, and I like how Mr Nam also got him to do it, I find it so funny. Has to be the fluffiest BL I actually liked

Basically Vincenzo told him his name, but Minseong's brain cells are full of Tae Ho. Does not listen anymore. Such a cutie. This episode is one of the best, I laughed so much. And it always gets me when he swears to Cha Young while leaving, super angry. His face expression is priceless.

@@zee007zee3 Yes, but Vincenzo clearly isn't helping, here's an thread of comments I found on Dramabeans regarding Vincenzo Ep 8: ilovecoffee&rain UNREGISTERED I might me one of those rare ones, who never felt the homophobia because the dating assaults of Min Sung was so horrifying. I thought it was natural that Vincenzo would be disgusted to even think about seducing him. Min Sung literally offered his dying mother funeral money! I mean WTF? Who in their right mind would not be disgusted? If he was homophobic, do you think he would have played the 'Tae Ho' part with such ease? REPLY rubytuesday I see where you're coming from, but the fact that it was precisely being shown the extent of Min Sung's awfulness (as we saw in that dinner scene) that caused him to lean in MORE into his flirting suggests otherwise. It wasn't Min Sung being a 'bad guy' that Vincenzo seemed disgusted/horrified/etc. by (at least when it came to seducing him), it was the fact that he was a guy, period. REPLY Miky I also was not feeling any problems about it even more when Vincenzo is a straight guy...Is it really homophobia that he found it hard to do it,for me it isin't...I doubt he cared at all for Min Seung being gay or not as mare fact nor looked like he would have treated him different if they had any other type of friendship but found him react somehow normal as it included him,and found it hard to do it aside from going maybe against his morals as well...I would find also hard if i was in his position... rubytuesday Vincenzo as a character has literally committed murder. If pretending to be romantically interested in a dude is where he morally draws the line then that is only further evidence of the homophobic writing behind him. Also, the context of the text in which he exists as a character is very important. A lot of straight men feel uncomfortably being perceived as gay because of societally enforced hegemonic masculinity (and I'm sure those values are even more firmly engrained in a conservative country like South Korea). His behaviour on his own could be portrayed as purely comedic if the writing outside of this one behaviour was firmly pro-LGBTQ+. But it wasn't- instead, we have our only (canonically confirmed) LGBTQ+ character being an abusive monster, and our hero clearly displaying disgust at having to be perceived as gay, despite never having any issues with the huge assortment of other random things he has done within the show. Also, Vincenzo doesn't exist. The writers choose his characterisation, and frame that characterisation how they like; they did not frame his behaviour in any sort of critical lens. All these things point to homophobia on the part of the writers, or at the very least, a bending to the status quo in regards to how Korean media has commonly portrayed its very few LGBTQ+ characters thus far.

@@dumplinglover8042 this literally made me so happy to see someone calling out the blatant homophobia. it's not even good representation for the LGBTQ+ community, everytime we are shown on main screen we are either: 1. extremely sterotypical and used by the hetro main leads 2. heavily sexualised for a hetro audience 3. a third class citizen who had a rough upbringing 4. a criminal with abusive tendencies every damn, supposed, LGBTQ+ show shows one of these. i got excited learning that there was a gay character in vincenzo only to discover he's a shitty abuser. i'm actually disgusted at the writers, why would you make the only gay character an abuser? oh right, because gay people have to be seen as one of those 4 things i mentioned before or else people won't watch.

That episode was so hilarious but at the end I actually felt bad for him, because he was so in Love and then he found out he never loved him. Like yeah he’s an asshole but he was so cute and so in love with Vincenzo that it hurt me to watch his heart get broke in half😩😅if they’re ever going to make a BL series together I would definitely watch it the second it comes out

...don't know about the best friends part in Arthdal Chronicles - they couldn't have been more opposite - what with Song being so giving & selfless while Kim was the exact opposite...but his character gave us some good laughs thou - best line of his being "...what happened to your clothes...did you eat your clothes because you were hungry...?" - I laughed till I fell off my couch...!!!

He didn’t fall in love with Vincenzo, why do all of you think that? He’s literally a domestic abuser, he didn’t just “beat people” he beat his boyfriends you know the people he “loves” Vincenzo was just going to be another of his victims, it wasn’t love it’s what abusers do they are nice at first then they turn, how you see him with Vincenzo was how he was with all his ex boyfriends before he beat them so viciously he gave them permanent damage like he made one of them blind, you also forget about the person he framed for murder, he was also a “fake person” because they way he was acting was all a ruse him being nice isn’t the real him.
