19 TRD sport (2nd owner since 6k miles). Started doing my own maintenance, about to hit 80k miles. Love this thing. Biggest complaint as stated is the peakiness of the power curve. Ive had an aftermarket tune for some time so the hunting is mostly gone. This engine definitely could have benefited from an 8 speed. My dad has a 2024 Tundra, and the 10 speed on that is awesome for cruising on the highway. Toyota thought an 8 speed would not have benefited for economy, which i dont think it would have, but it would have smoothed out the shifting i think. Annoying that the truck needs to drop gears everytime you need to pass someone and is exacerbated by how tall the gears are too. Asides from that, truck has been problem free. Got some annoying tailgate bushing creaking but thats about it

One of the biggest cons with almost all of the Generations of Tacoma is the front cam bolts always seizing and rusting needing to be cut out and not being able to align the tires until they are replaced which results in people, who do not work on their trucks on their own, going to the dealer and the dealer saying that they need new lower control arm.

That million-mile Taco is on its 2nd engine, but the rest is still good! For fit and finish the sheet metal gaps and tailgate are Sub-pare!!!! There really bad. Most of the mods I have done are to fix what Toyota should have done. Tune, seat jackers, Anytime Locker, Front camera, film for the cluster and radio, Locking tailgate, bed matt, floor mats, door jamb protector.
