Mom of 4 here, who was a nanny also. Huggies are the best for boys. Especially because they can pee heavier than girls and more toward the front. They hold more, and science experiments prove that too🤣. Newborns poop almost every time they eat so they go through a lot of diapers. I also get eczema from wipes so Huggies natural care worked best for us. Costco brand are exactly the same as Huggies and they’re cheaper. I’m so excited for you!

With regards to nappies and wipes, don’t worry so much about what brands and just focus on getting BULK. Those first few weeks are more draining than you will ever know and getting out of the house will feel impossible so try to stock up like your planning for an apocalypse x also 10 is the minimum nappies you will go through per day. 😳😅 we aimed for a change every two hours but my son would poop immediately after the change 🙃 also congrats I love your work and I’m so excited that you are having a baby boy like I did!

Some of the best advice I ever received when I was having my first was: never decrease the noise level in the house. New babies will sleep when they're tired. My mom suggested I lay a blanket on the floor and vacuum around her. She never needed total silence to sleep. The 2nd is never create a cave-like atmosphere for them to sleep. It seems the right thing to do but you'll never be able to re-create that when you visit people, take trips, etc. They'll get used to needing total blackout and when you're out living your life, they'll have a hard time sleeping unless it's dark. I wouldn't tell another mother what to do, these suggestions just made life much easier and I'm super glad I took the advice.

I agree with this. Babies don't need quiet or complete darkness to sleep and if that's what you give them, that's what they'll require. For me, that also included taking the baby out regularly so he will learn to deal with noise and commotion without becoming overwhelmed so easily and you won't be at the mercy of nap time, rushing home because your baby or toddler can't sleep except in his own crib. Babies are generally very adaptable unless trained not to be. The one exception is bedtime. It works out best to have a routine so you don't have any sleep issues.

Don`t have a baby myself but 95% of my close friends do. The ones that never put the baby in a "shell", that took the baby out from the beginning, and exposed them to noises (of course you won`t take it to a rock concert but you bring it to a dinner party) have the calmest, easier babies. The earlier they get used to the real world, the easier it will be for them to adapt...

I agree! We have train tracks very near to the back of our home. I didn't try to make my daughter's room especially quiet or dark knowing she would inevitably hear the trains at night. She was the best sleeper when we were out. She could fall asleep anywhere. We never had to plan our days around her naps because she would just sleep on the go.

I don't think that you will use 10 diapers each day. I never did with my daughter. The diapers now are so good at holding liquid so that they feel dry against the skin. So the baby can pee a few times before you need to change. Or it will be a lot of waste. But you will figure this out after the baby comes. Plus they will give you advice at the hospital ❤❤

A cart for all the stuff you'll need for feeding the baby, your water bottle. Extra snacks for you. A place for your tablet so you can watch something at night. Second time mom here... not that you need advice, you are so prepared its awsome. But here is some things ive learned about diapers after having 2 kids. More like 6 diapers a day as long as you use lanolin butt ointment. Its all natural. And please please don't buy a bunch of newborns diapers. They grow out of those so so fast. Also don't open all the diaper boxers cause you can exchange then for a larger size if you leave the boxes unopened. I personally prefer Costco diapers. They are the same as Huggies. They are literally manufactured in the same facility. Diaper brand is honestly just preference. You will be a great mom. You inspire me. Thank you for being you. ❤ Many blessings to you and your family. May you have a healthy and safe delivery.

The Kirkland diapers from Costco are a great texture and kept my baby cozy, Pampers had weird bunching and the top layer was sticking to her and coming away from the absorbent part. We loved the texture of the 7th generation wipes too, not flimsy or synthetic feeling, more cottony. At baby showers we received a lot of different types of diapers and wipes and that really helped us get through the first while, folks brought different sizes and we always had at least a first pack for when there were 2 or more blowouts in one day, signaling time to size up!

Agree about a diaper warmer. How silly - if you use wipes of any kind yourself, you'll soon find out that it's completely unnecessary to warm them. Also agree about the diaper pail. Love the Dekor Plus! You just step on the pedal and the outer lid flips up. Then you drop the diaper onto the spring-loaded inner door and the diaper drops in, the inner door snaps shut automatically, and you step off the pedal and the outer lid closes. It's very odor proof and not unattractive. The bags are a continuous roll, so the size is adjustable to what you need. And it's easy to clean if/when you need to.

In my opinion- picking the diaper brand is what fits your babies body best (Huggies might blow out more for one vs pampers blow out for another baby) where wipes are what you like best. (What wipe doesn’t rip mid wipe and what thickness you like, etc- kinda like different people like different brands of toilet paper) We only use one large case of diapers of each size and then stop at size 4 for a few months and then size 5 for like a year. You don’t need a ton of the nb size. If you don’t open the box you can exchange it for the next size up.

And soem people with big babies go straight to size 1 and skip nb.

Disagree wholeheartedly with the warmer. Baby gets used to these nice warm wipes but you don't change the baby at home in the same place. Child Development teacher. Take it from me don't get your baby used to anything where they need to depend on it. Same with a lovey. If they latch onto a blanket or stuffy, but like 4 of them and rotate them in so they all smell the same. If you only have one and it gets that smell and then try to add another one it won't be the same. Or worse if you lose it.

I swore by water wipes when my guy was a baby, they don't have a lot of things added to them. Also diapers with the wet indicators were lifesavers the first few weeks when you need to track every time they pee/poo to make sure they're getting enough milk. Such an exciting time!!!

If you have sample fabric for your nursery blinds, bond it to fusible buckram (sandwich the buckram between your main fabric and some remnant fabric for the inside). Trace and cut the shape of that plastic end cap. Fix using double sided sticky tape. The buckram means the fabric won't fray. I've done this for several roman shades

My "baby" will turn 30 years old this year (still my baby)❣️ I remember when I was given a baby shower, I was a little bummed because, instead of cute clothing and shoes, etc., most people gave me diapers; so many, that I literally stacked them against the wall in my bedroom and they went all the way to the ceiling! WELL, I cannot say how glad I was to have all those diapers when the baby was born... they REALLY go through them!!

We looked at cloth nappies/ diapers. But realised the time for cleaning, it wasn't the best idea for us as couldn't dedicate the time to. So i went for a biodegradable nappy option instead. Also instead of wipes we used cotton wool pleates & water for cleaning. We got recommended by a dermatologist that babies don't need to be bathed more that once a fortnight, but clean areas when dirty. This worked great for us as my daughter had eczema & bathing less frequently & for shorter periods when she did, helped massively.

  • @Beruthiel45

Same here. My first baby, my daughter, got eczema and the doctor said frequent bathing was completely unnecessary, just to clean where needed. My third, my second son, was the first to have an occasional disposable diaper when we went on a short trip and he got a bad rash right away, so back to cloth even away from home for a day or two. Best treatment for diaper rash is any cream with zinc. Those without zinc don't do anything for the rash.

If you painted it to match the wall color, it would help make it less noticeable. Second, do not forget to make a list for things for you as a new mother. You will need special things for down there care and things for you if you plan on nurcing your new baby. Nurcing pads, etc

When he did wear diapers we really loved Rascall & Friends, we also love the sudocream for rashes. But also don’t forget to get stuff for you! It’s very easy to go through 10 diapers a day, even more sometimes. Plus, you will be amazed at how many clothes your baby will go through in a day as well. It’s been over 40 yeas since I had my babies and I still remember how much laundry I had with a baby. We also thought we would be those parents who didn’t use disposable diapers, we were going to use cloth diapers. Didn’t take us long to change our minds, there were sooooo many diapers to wash, plus they didn’t keep their little bottoms as dry as the disposable diapers (and I’m sure the disposable diapers diapers are much better now than they were 40 years).
