I always felt that , Taal ,being one of the best compositions ever made by AR Rahman, could’ve been a more legitimate contender for Oscars than Slumdog millionaire! Taal is a perfect blend of melody and instrumental genres of Indian and western music ! Hats off to ARR for this ever- refreshing masterpiece!

A.R. Rahman's music is out of any kind race ... He is legend ... Oscar can't limit him.... he is blessed and his music still blessing us.

My uncle (teen age boy back then) bought the cassette and hid it under his pillow. Every now and then he'd listen to it and look at picture of Rai. He died this year of heart failure leaving four kids behind. Rest in peace, uncle Ratan.

This soundtrack is so damn beautiful. Brings back so many memories. God bless R.A. Rahman!

None of the modern day music systems, headphones seem to match the quality of Sony, Aiwa Walkman experience back then :(

I remember seeing this movie at 5 or 6 years old and I was so fascinated by the movie and the Indian culture. I am 24 years old and still always amaze me every time me and my family see it! This is far my favorite Bollywood movie! Did I also say that I am Mexican?? Well I am and I don't even know how to dance, but this makes me want to learn their choreography!

This is one of the finest album composed by Maestro AR Rehman.. This music was relevant in past, is relevant in present and will be relevant in future.

Music was released on Compact Disc in 1999, which is a new trend then, and a new rage among music lovers of AR Rahaman Sir and Subhash Ghai Sir. Entire album is All Time Best

Yes, even I'm one of those people who didn't even understand these songs when the movie was released, and still sang them along with the cassettes! I am listening to the entire album at once for the first time in YEARS! Oh MY GOD! The impact is so freaking POWERFUL! How can one simply listen to it without a thousand rushing overwhelming emotions, goosebumps and tears of sheer happiness from such extraordinary music! I didn't realise this at all at the time but TAAL was so ahead of time! So experimental, beautifully and intricately crafted. AR Rahman is one of the geniuses in the world, not just the country.

In 90s, A.R was way ahead of other composers of that time. Similarly, in 2000s, his work was much better than the new composers. And in this decade, he is still on the top. It must be noted that most of music directors of 90s couldn't survive in 2000s. Similarly composers of 2000s found it difficult to work in this decade. One thing is clear that A.R's music is independent of time.✌

Abhijeet Anand I don't know what music has to do with religion. And let me clear that he is as creative as he was in 92. He works predominately in Tamil industry. You should go and listen to his recent Tamil albums like Kaatru Velliyidai, AYM, I, 24 etc.. And moreover as far as Hindi is considered how can one ignore Rockstar, Raanjhanaa, JTHJ. He has been awarded the National Award for Mom this year. Just your taste of music has changed coz of some Himeshs, Honey Singhs, Armaans etc, ARR is still just like what he was in 92. What a masterpiece of album by my musical legend A R Rahman Sir....still remember buying the audio cassette of this movie in July or Aug 1999....Each of the songs outdo the other in terms of quality....after so many years, tried listening the cassette on my old tape recorder, though the audio was out of place due to the age of the cassette, the magic the album creates is still in tact...As a 12 year old, the songs blew me away when it first released....ARR Sir must have had a blast recording all the songs of the album...this album will never grow old with time as its striking quality is the blend of Indian & Western Classical in the correct proportion....Am proud to live in the era where celebration of music existed in the form of AR Rahman Sir....No other can pull off such a hard hitting album with sheer variety & maintaining its ethnicity in tact...

I am hearing this album in 2021. A.R. Rahman is a genius who created this album. This is a masterpiece.💖🔥 This album was created before I born. My elder brother told me about this beautiful album. Thanks to him for this great gift.💖💖

I am reading these comments and feel connected to my fellow 90s kids who are probably going thru life while reminiscing about their time in the 90s. It connects us to the time when we had only school to worry about.

This movie was epic, just after the massive success of hum dil de chuke sanam world over, Aishwarya Rai was seen in this movie. Just after an award winning performance she was there was another award winning performance. Hum dil de chuke sanam was the breakthrough of her career & after Taal she went right at number one. She conquered another world after conquering Miss World........ God bless you Queen of bollywood!

A deaf person might just regain the power of hearing thanks to this soundtrack. Such quality in 1999

I was just 10 during this movie audio release, that time I had felt ' nice songs '... But now I feel what the heaven to listen these songs... What a combination of instruments, singers voice and tunes!!!!!!!... He was very ahead of that time.. Amazing album, ARR is a gift to the music world. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.... Infinite ❤️ symbols... That's it .. love you ARR.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🎵🎼🎶

Every time I listen to this since my childhood I feel nostalgic. Really a fabulous music by A R Rahman sir. Only 90s kids will know what real music means.
